Answer: No
Q:
I noticed that the color stated as bone seems to be the bone silver instead , is the picture wrong or the color? thanks!
Answer: I ordered the "bone" color and received bone silver. Checked the order again and it listed as bone silver in cart which I did not catch before checking out.
Answer: It appears that way but when it in the water it's more of a whitish. I use the silver with red front and the black spots. That one has never let me down. Will you be using yours for fresh or salt water? Salt water is all I do but I have been so far up the creeks before that I have caught bass On it.
Answer: I honestly can't remember... an I can't go look cuz I lost it ... sorry wish I could remember... I do know I caught quite a few decent fish with it tho...

Which color for snook or red fish in florida
Answer: i found the chartreuse green to work better on sea trout and the red head worked better on red fish. throw under the mangrove and just flick it back and forth, retrieve very slowly. cant say for snook, i never had the pleasure of catching one.
Answer: Shaun,
Answer: Bone color works great for FL snook, redfish, amd trout.
Q:
what has anybody found to be the best color? Also does it float?
Answer: Yes it floats. The best color depends on the fish you're going for. Bone, baby bass, and chrome all work for bass.
Answer: Yes they float. Best color varies with time of year and other factors but bone color is very consistently good.
Answer: yes !! it floats ! red and white is a very productive pattern.
Q:
is the one you are selling bone silver or bone in color
Answer: Bone color with silver lines painted on the bone color.
Q:
Ithought these came with feathers on the back hook ?
Answer: Larry,
Answer: I have ordered numerous Heddon and they all come featherless. Most people upgrade to a feather hook after purchase.
Answer: No they are bare hooks. If you fish salt you'll change out the hooks.
Answer: Heddon lures usually do not come with feathers, perhaps it is an added-on accessory. Rapala lures are the ones that incorporate this feature. I personally don't like it, walks messy.
Answer: There are some that do come with feathers however, you will be able to see them in the pictures. I was using mine yesterday and caught several nice trout on it. My Hedden has speckles on it mimicking a finger mullet.
Answer: Not all of them do. Depends where you get them from.
Answer: I wish. I feel that it makes no difference tho
Q:
What is the length of the lure?
Answer: I have it down as a 5inch but might be slightly longer or shorter but close to 5inches
Q:
it says feather dressed but the photo doesn't show feathers. Which is it?
Answer: Mine had feathers on back hook. Took them off though.
Q:
Best size fishing pole for walking the dog?
Answer: You would want to use a 6 to 7 foot Medium action rod with a fast or extra fast action/tip. This rod would best be line rated 10 to 17 pound test or 10 to 20 pound test if you were fishing for large and small mouth bass. You could probably use a Medium Heavy action rod with a fast action, line rated 10 to 20 pound test if you were fishing for large mouth bass with striped bass mixed in. A heavy action rod would be too stiff to properly get the "walking the dog" action this lure is designed for. Most rods designed for crank bait fishing can double as and make excellent top water/walking the dog rods.
Answer: Rubush in sw but for bass I hea dey good.
Q:
What size treble hooks are on these? So I can modify...
Answer: Hello,
Q:
Is this the same length as the heddon rattlin spook?
Answer: Hello,
Answer: If the heddon rattlin spook is 3-1/2-inch, yes!
Q:
is this really the feathered version? pic shows regular
Answer: Best to send the question to the seller. Usually, the description takes precedence over the picture. Great bait! I use the bone color with feathered tail around laydowns for spotted bass in a clear lake - there're awesome! Good luck!
Answer: Yes. The transparent one came with a white/red feathered tail.
Q:
is it weighted
Answer: No, this is a floating top water lure, it is a plastic shell with a plastic rattle inside.
Answer: no it's a top water with a rattle
Answer: No it's very light.
Answer: it's a floating top water lure with walking the dog retrieve action , it is a plastic shell with a rattle inside. NOT weighted. i prefer the saltwater hooks over the standard = better hooks
Q:
Need a red an white deep running
Answer: the spook is top water !!! find what you want with deep diving lip on it !
Answer: Then this is not the lure for you. This is a top water stick bait and it only sinks when something bites it. It rattles and “walks” back and forth as you jerk it in.
Answer: This lure floats on the top of the water. It only goes under the water when a fish grabs it.
Answer: This is a top water lure
Q:
Anyone have a color recommendation? Georgia lakes and rivers.
Answer: James,
Answer: Never fished ga lakes, but I fish Everglades back country and use bone, red head/white and chartreuse. Thinks it's the action more than color.
Answer: Hey James, we would recommend either a white or something that exactly replicates the baitfish in your area!
Q:
Does this have the feather on the back hook?
Answer: Hello,
Answer: This Super Spook does not have the feather on the back hook, it has just bare treble hooks.
Q:
Name says Saltwater, product details note All freshwater species: which is it?
Answer: This is in no way a saltwater plug. Any fish bigger than 5 lbs would tear it to leaves. I was very disappointed when I got it, I only use it in fresh water. If u want saltwater plugs get repla magnums, they will never disappoint u or let u down.
Answer: This is a color that has salt water hooks on them. A lot of people will use them on fresh and salt water fish.
Q:
What color and size work best for bass?
Answer: There seems to be no written rule what size works best for bass. The size depends on the size of the bass in the areas your fishing also the size of the forage base
Answer: While light conditions are the primary variable, I believe the action of the Spook is the main reason bass love this bait. I have historically used just 2 colors; red head with white/translucent body and Silver/black (which is best for low light/nighttime fishing). The Silver/black casts the best silhouette in low light. The bait is great for both largemouth and smallmouth bass. You can also expect pike activity with the Spook. Have fun!
Answer: ANY !!! its a great lure !
Q:
Does it come in baby bass color?
Answer: Yes
Q:
Saltwater version?
Answer: Can be used in both. Probably chmage hooks after a while in salt
Q:
would this be the right size and weight for bass?
Answer: It works well for me.
Answer: Yes.
Q:
What should the retrieve on this life look like?
Answer: I have a few different ways i fish this lure in the northeast for striped bass. You can walk it side to side with a jerk pause reel, jerk pause reel motion. You can use it like a pencil popper and keep the rode tip high and wiggle the rod tip back and forth pretty quick while reeling real slow (should hold the line to keep taught as it goes on to the spool. I'll also weigh it down with a few grams of mineral oil (make small hole then cover with epoxy) so it swims just under the surface and reel erratically, like 2 quick jerks and a reel or two, then a pause for 1-2 seconds, a slow reel then a jerk.
Answer: Slow and steady. I use a cadence like reel pop reel reel pop also depending on what I'm fishing for let it sit for 30 sec after it hits the water. This one lure has caught me many different species in Florida. Hope this helps ya catch some fish.
Answer: Walk it in. Looks like a wounded baitfish
Q:
Does this have the built in rattle?
Answer: Yes
Q:
is this a 1oz lure?
Answer: Hello,
Q:
Will these work from a tall pier?
Answer: Depending on the length of your rod and the length of the peir, you'll have to have the tip closes to the water with your twitches until you find the sweet spot. Longer rod and heavy would work fine. Try a bigger size maybe 4 see if it works better good luck
Answer: It works better from the surface level. From a tall pier, the "walk the dog" motion is hard to do.
Answer: not as well but yes.
Q:
Can you order different sizes from Amazon?
Q:
The spook say its a super spook but the picture shows a super spook jr?
Answer: Super spook got 3 treble hooks, the super spook JR only 2. The one in the pic is the JR. Hope this helps!
Answer: The one they sent me was a Super shook Jr
Answer: It’s about 5 inch lure.
Answer: it is just file pic !!!
Q:
Is the baby bass color good for big bass?
Answer: Yes it is. The color of these really doesn't matter to be honest. The water it moves and the sound it makes when you walk it is what drives the bass crazy. I've caught bass on several different colors of these Spook's.
Q:
Is this price for a dozen of them? they are 5-6 bucks at any sporting goods store
Q:
Whats the weight of the lure?
Answer: Hello,
Answer: 7/8 ounce
Q:
The bone lure looks like the bone silver version. The normal bone has no scales or shine, it's just off white. Can anyone confirm it is Bone Silver?
Answer: I've always referred to this color as "bone and diamond". It does have a scale pattern and is among the top 3 of my favorite colors of spook jr. You will not be disappointed.
Q:
Is it good in saltwater
Product reviews of Heddon Super Spook Topwater Fishing Lure for Saltwater and Freshwater
Hn : Really fast shipping and item as described.
Really fast shipping and item as described.
The Bone Ranger : The CHROME one is great.
The chrome ones I use are so great I thought I would try this black for cloudy days. You might get more accurate reviews from a bass.
Platyjaeger : They are catching fish !
Striper love it ! They are nice for the walking retrieve and I caught tons of striper with it. The hooks could be stronger because stripers are strong and I have to bend them back multiple times. Bone color works for dusk and dawn and evening hours. Front hook can catch line from time to time and after 30 fish it looses the silver color a bit.
Amazon Customer : Great lure to catch lunkers!
Love these and hav owned many. Great chartreuse color, good to use during spring.
george diaz : My super spook brings all the bass to the yard
Very cool lure
K. Carter : Good bait, swap out the hardware
Has good action. caught a handful of small schoolies on it. My only issue with this lure is the hooks. 1st there are 3 treble hooks on a <5" bait so i'd catch a 16" stripper and there would be 5 hooks to remove. also after catching about 12 fish (and loosing a few) 2 of the treble hooks were broken and the split ring of one had started to uncoil. Good bait, swap out the hardware (and lose the middle hook) otherwise the big one might get away.
FERNANDO : Excellent lure for topwater striper action!
I am very pleased with this lure. It cast very far and easy with 10 and 12 lb mono line. Good price and quality along with good topwater action during the retrieve. I caught dozens of schoolie stripers this fall with it and had a lot of fun. I am glad that I purchased several of these just in case of a price increase for next season!
J Roberts : Great lure, belongs in every fisherman’s tacklebox
Arrived fast, and I love using this down here in Florida for Snook and Trout. I’ve caught several on this and it’s perfect for those flat glassy mornings or evenings when the fish are active and running schoolies. I use it to “walk the dog” and I light em up with this.
Paulo Alencar : ????
????
Anwar : 3 pound Spanish mackerel
Second time fishing with it... Changed the hooks to size 4 Mustag. Seems to work .
Craig Krusemark : Couldn’t ask for better service and better quality
I love this one of my go to Lures Couldn’t ask for better service and better quality
Dre S. : Great top water bass lure!!
learn how to consistently walk the dog and switch out yo some stronger quality hooks (VMC round bend treble preferably) and this lure will bring you biggins if you know how and where to use it!!!
Ann Marie Sosa : Catches fish!
Great lure for catching specs & reds in overcast conditions. Gave 4 stars as the hooks rust rather quickly. Just replace with better quality hooks & you're good to go!
A. Bailey : Haven’t caught anything with it yet, but I feel the love.
I wish the company sold a version of this with single hooks only. Taking the treble hooks off and replacing them with Owners single hooks was a real pain in the patootee.
kimberly mendoza : Works.
It works the way it's supposed to. Paint job on it is great.
Consumer : It catches fish!
The action on this thing great. If it hits top water, this lure will catch it.
Unbiased Reviewer : Wiggles with ease - proven lure to catch those big fish.
Very nice bright chartreuse color. It makes walking the dog an easy task. I wish it was a tad bit heavier for a super long cast. Only able to cast it an average of 200-250+ feet depending on conditions.
Chris Viverito : Great!
Caught a ton of jacks, barracuda, & snapper in the Bahamas.. Brought it to Jersey & caught a blue fish on my first cast!
Edward Long : Holy SNOOK! I couldn't believe how well this lure ...
Holy SNOOK! I couldn't believe how well this lure performed. I was trying DOA shrimp and live bait with no luck under the lights off a pier. When I threw this on it was night and day. I fished with this lure for 4 days and ended up having to replace one of the hooks I had so much action. The one thing that I did have to change up every night was the action I put on the lure. Some nights it was a fast retrieve with some jerking, sometimes it was trying to mimic a dying fish on its last leg. Really productive lure that exceeded expectations.
Craig Krusemark : Couldn’t ask for better service and better quality
I love this one of my go to Lures Couldn’t ask for better service and better quality
Sigfredo Gomez : great lure !
this lure is great, big big big! sharp hooks and great action.
S. Larson : Love this Brand
I love pink and have had good luck with Pink Lures. Last year I found a lure from this brand at the end of my parents dock. It was in great condition so my husband and I bought more and have really loved fishing with them. They cast out nice and have a great pattern when you reel them in.... they are heavy so make sure you have good knots.... Husband tossed one out and never saw it again :)
rk : great lure, catches redfish
great lure, catches redfish, trout, snook, and even tarpon. now if only i could do that in the same trip! lol
BobGuy : Great action and very durable
Very easy to "walk the dog" and holds up extremely well to abuse. I accidentally cast it directly into some boulders and hung it up in a tree and thought for sure when I reeled it in, there would be cracks or bent hooks. Nope--super solid.
My one and only complaint was that I had to carve the resin coating out of the eye of the loop for tying it on, but perhaps that's why it's so durable.
Platyjaeger : Looks good in the water but doesn't catch fish
Not sure if it's me or the lure, but I did't catch a single fish with it while I am catching them on other ones. Thinking about adding some paint to it because the clear one is not doing it for me. I will still try it because it just looks good in the water with the "'Walk the Dog'" style but I think with some color it would be better. Nice rattling noise and weight/size ratio.
A. Bailey : Haven’t caught anything with it yet, but I feel the love.
I wish the company sold a version of this with single hooks only. Taking the treble hooks off and replacing them with Owners single hooks was a real pain in the patootee.
Texas JHSN : Caught bass within minutes of receiving lure
Testing new lure. Caught a bass within minutes from receiving lure from Amazon. Bass jumped out of the water four+ times to shake the lure. Once landed the bass on shore, the lure fell out of his mouth. Great experience ! Looking forward to repeating this experience !
Gil & Helen : Good lure
I have used these for years. Has always been a good lure.
tom : I definitely love using these lures for topwater fishing it's exciting to ...
I definitely love using these lures for topwater fishing it's exciting to see the fish jump out of the water to attack it they work great they look great you just have to remember to use the walk the dog technique with this lure or else it will not perform.
Cassi Hejlik : They are fantastic lures, but one of them cracked near the ...
I bought two of these for a weekend trip. They are fantastic lures, but one of them cracked near the back treble within the first hour of fishing. The back treble hook no longer stays in place, and it doesn't swim right anymore. Happened after catching my third fish. Figured it would last a lot longer than this!
The Bone Ranger : The CHROME one is great.
The chrome ones I use are so great I thought I would try this black for cloudy days. You might get more accurate reviews from a bass.

David S Murray : Good lure...big!!
This is big lure...too big for SW FL flats fishing...I'll use it next summer up on Cape Cod for big Stripers...very well made...HD hooks...
Joe M. : Great lure for every fish
Great lure for every fish I can think of. If you know how to use it you can catch anything. They are getting expensive tho. Should have bulk pricing discounts
MH : Super Spooks don't spook fish; they drive them crazy.....
I have a myriad of different super spooks and I have to say it's a really fun lure to fish with. I've mostly been using the super spooks in the surf (believe it or not), and have caught some pretty aggressive stripers with them so far. Fun lure to fish, and there's a "Method" to them, in that you want to learn "The walk" when you retrieve them. It drives fish mad and even in the surf I get hits. I typically wait for the first breaker to break (usually a good sized one) then you have some nice still water for a bit. Fire it out there... do "The Walk", if there's predatory fish in that close they're gonna take notice to it. I have yet to try them in a large reservoir where Stripers are present, I have a feeling they'll produce results. I also use the angler clips so I can change patters out quickly while I'm on the beach. You also have to beware of birds, cause they can see these a mile away and they swoop down on them if you're not careful, so stay alert (for coastal surf fishing that is). But so far they cast great, they alert fish and it's a lot of fun to fish with a top water lure in the Surf.
K. Carter : Good bait, swap out the hardware
Has good action. caught a handful of small schoolies on it. My only issue with this lure is the hooks. 1st there are 3 treble hooks on a <5" bait so i'd catch a 16" stripper and there would be 5 hooks to remove. also after catching about 12 fish (and loosing a few) 2 of the treble hooks were broken and the split ring of one had started to uncoil. handfree : Catch um
Works great I use these all the time when fishing salt and fresh water just reel one turn and twitch and turn and twitch that drives um crazy ,good for snook bass trout jack whatever will hit top water
Joe-G-C : Muy buena elección
Gran señuelo gran calidad y excelente precio ????
Jay : Peeling paint after light use
Its already scratched up and paint peeling after one use, light use. It does not look natural when reeling in.
Sam : Best Lure for Shallow Water
This in one of the best lures for shallow water... just walk the dog and if there are trout, shook or reds around they will slam it.
Jimbo G : Catching Machine
This lure is a Speckled Trout and Red fish magnet.
The Bone Ranger : The CHROME one is great.
The chrome ones I use are so great I thought I would try this black for cloudy days. You might get more accurate reviews from a bass.
fair-reviewer : Nice size
Great top lur for the big fish.
Amazon Customer : Great lure to catch lunkers!
Love these and hav owned many. Great chartreuse color, good to use during spring.
david : Awesome
Good price, very durable and just well made as all Heddon Lures are, I have always loved the Spook and this size is deadly not just small mouth Bass but Large mouth and Stripers also, would diffently recommend the Spook.
Nathan B. : Good lookin' bait, great action.
Got this bait to do a little walkin' the dog this fall. It has a great action and a great look to it. I got a couple hits when I took it out in mid-fall.
