Spinning is an easy way to fish, an easy technique to learn, and uses very simple tackle: A rod, a reel, line, and a spinner. No leaders, no weights, no other tackle. The classic spinner is the French Mepps spinner, and these spinners are copies of various Mepps designs- sort of. They’re very similar, but the spoon design on these spinners is flatter, and I think, thicker. We’re in the middle of January as I write this, so I tested a few of these by tying them on a length of 4lb test and dragging them back and forth in a tub of water. Compared to my Mepps spinners, these don’t seem as active. There’s less movement and flash, and that’s what attracts fish. No doubt they’ll catch fish- I’ve caught panfish on a hook with a piece of aluminum foil- but maybe not as easily as a Mepps.

Do they work. Yes. I caught two bass first time out using them. Do they rust? Immediately... literally one day of fishing, the next day they are COVERED in rust. You get what you pay for.
