Questions about BOOYAH Buzz Buzzbait Bass Fishing Lure
Q:
Which size is best ?
Answer: I like the 1/2oz the best. It casts far and is the right size.
Answer: If by “size” you’re referring to weight, it depends on how deep the water is where you are fishing, the style of retrieve, and speed of your retrieval. So as it stands, “I can’t tell you.”
Answer: 1/8, 1/4 or 3/8 oz. Any one is a good start.
Answer: I have found the 3/8 OZ is best for the Northern and other pikes that I fish for. I recently caught a 43" Northern in Ontario but most are about 20" fish.
Answer: It really depends on what kind of fish, and what size you want to catch. Also, what are you comparing to?
Answer: With buzzbaits, I rarely go higher than a 1/2 oz. I usually run 1/4 or 3/8 because I find the lighter it's easier to get it working. I tried a 3/4 one time, even though I got I good distance it didn't run to good. Plus it was a workout due to it being so heavy and the constant reeling.
Q:
Where do you put the line through and tie the knot?
Answer: Don't use a snap or swivel of any kind. Use a Palomar knot and tie directly at the R-bend. The Palomar is a super strong knot and easy to tie. I use 30-lb PowerPro braided line to fish for largemouth bass in Va Beach/NC freshwater creeks and rivers.
Answer: You can either tie off the line directly or use a snap at the u-shaped bend in the wire just below the clacker and blade. This kind of design is common for both buzzbaits and and spinner bait lures. Snaps will sometimes slide around, fouling up on the occasional casts. This does not happen as much if you tie directly to the wire, but you sacrifice the convenience of being able to swap lures quickly.
Answer: You place the line at the sharp 180 degree bend in the wire that comes from the head of the lure
Answer: Usually you would use a barrel swivel or a leader of some kind. But there's a rounded part above the buzzer to attach it.
Answer: There is a notch at the top of the lure
Q:
Single 1/2 oz black $7.98. two pack 1/2 oz black $500.00.. i am not the best on math, but should i just buy two singles or the two pack?
Answer: Buy 2 singles
Answer: Sounds logical to me.
Q:
The weight of lead sink, lead block and lead fixture are all less than one ounce. It is prohibited to use plumb or heavy objects weighing less than 1
Answer: What in the holy hell are you talking about bud?!
Q:
What size should I buy for everyday fishing with this lure?
Answer: 3/8 oz
Q:
How long is this buzz bait?
Q:
Is this a weedless lure
Answer: I do not think there is such a thing as weed less lures even the ones that claim they are. This lure is made to run across the top of the water and I do fish them threw pads and weed beds it does get fouled once in awhile. you have to keep in mind that once it hits the water start cranking it as fast as possible I use a 7:1 gear ratio reel when using them find that anything less it does not work as well.
Answer: Buzzbaits are pretty weedless.......they have the ability to go over pads without getting stuck, but if you run them through grass you chance getting some grass wrapped around the shaft, either stopping the blade from turning or slowing it down. I throw these pretty much everywhere.....but we don't see a lot of "grassy weeds" in NE Pennsylvania.
Q:
What color should I buy?
Answer: Black for cloudy days or night time. White for lakes,
Q:
In all inland waters of the Commonwealth, the use of lead fixtures weighing less than 1 ounce is prohibited. Can i do it?
Q:
Should I remove the small, tightly fitted elastic band located just bellow the head of the buzzbait? They are messing with the skirt look…
Answer: Sorry, but to me it’s just personal preference. I have left mine just as it came.
Answer: No
Answer: No

Product reviews of BOOYAH Buzz Buzzbait Bass Fishing Lure
Magic Jack : New Dimension to my fishing
Health has kept me from using this so far but it seems to be good quality & I look forward to using it to catch bass.
Didee : Great top water lure
I've caught a ton of fish on this buzz bait. I had to get another one. My son saw how much I was getting hit with this and wanted one to so I got him one as well. The clattering is like a top water chatter bait. Black is my go to color and it never fails. After many fishes the wire starts to get warped. Great for its price.
Kawika : Four Stars
Great product!
Thomas E. Moore : A reliable buzzbait that catches fish!
Good value, sturdy, and it catches more fish than any other buzzbait I’ve ever used! Caught my PB on it.
Sir JD : Can't go wrong with this buzzbait
I live in South East Texas and throw this almost year round since we don't have harsh winters. I've been throwing this buzzbait since it's beginning decades ago. Black is always my go to color.
Mike Showalter : Reasonably priced
Great design
Tacorollin : Looks and sounds cool
Buzz buzz
Mule Man : Best Buy for the money
Great buzzbait caught fish immediately
EJ & Teresa Domingue : Catch my first 5lb Bass with it!!!!!!
Catch my first 5lb Bass with it!!!!!!
Mary V : Good bait for bigger bass
This Booyah Buzz looks like a little round-bellied blue gill or sunfish in the water. I paired it with a smelly minnow trailer and the action in the water was realistic. This makes a good bait for bigger bass.
robert : Great
Great lure. First time using a dark buzz bait. Few cast before sunset. Hooked my first one. Let the gf. Use it. Caught three more within an hour.

Brad W. : They work great especially around banks and docks
Used it for fishing the Chowan River which is a blackwater river in North Carolina. They work great especially around banks and docks. Bass love them.
Evan : Good lure
I like that it catches fish
lay opinion : Does not buzz properly.
Does not buzz properly. Not sure what is wrong with it,
leonard hartke : Quality bait
Cash a huge bass
Joshua M Fringer : This is a huge, loud buzz bait. Couldn't ...
This is a huge, loud buzz bait. Couldn't get anything to go for it, but maybe where I was fishing they were too small. I was only pulling in 1.5 pounders with my other lures. Very loud.
Donald L. : Booyah!
Great buzzbait
Jerry31 : Great bait
This is the only buzzbait I use. The extra clacker adds a different sound. Great bait
Donald Lilly : MUSKY MUSKY This is a great buzz bait, NO BASS BUT MUSKY LOVE IT !!! better wear ear plugs LOL
Finally I got what I paid for this thing is great and so loud and annoying sounds like a car without a muffler, lol. I read the comment about guy catching Musky on it and that’s what I fish for. We had a bad day but did get a follow on this bait and nothing on any other bait we threw, I love it wish they came bigger bigger for the big boys.
UPDATE 8/17/18 ok fished for Musky from 9 am until noon only caught 1 about 30 minutes before I had to leave I put on the Booyah I had tried everything else so what did I have to loose right. In 30 min had one follow and put two in the boat.
UPDATE 8/21/18 was it a fluke that I caught all those muskies last time I went fishing, I know you’re not going to believe this but I started at 6:30 in the morning and finished until 830 in the night, tried all my different lures and could not get even a follow. I tied on my old faithful Booyah and started casting in the 14 hour day on the chartreuse and a black Booyah buzz bait we put 9 Muskies in the boat. We had in all 22 mostly strikes Muskies take the lure, they don’t follow they slam it. Probably the greatest fishing day of my life the place we fish is full of bass not one strike and didn’t even see a bass all day. The lure held up unbelievable, I’m guessing I have 21 hours of throwing it and the rubber gets caught in the rotating buzzer but for four dollars plus who cares. Bend the metal buzz arm down a little toward the skirt in will make all the difference it the world. My boat looks and smells like the National Musky convention was held there, my hands are sore and my arms are aching and by the way does anyone know how to get Musky‘s off my hands LOL
UPDATE 9/3/18
Ok took a 80 year guy with me that had never Musky fished, I put a black Booyah Buzz on his within 15 minutes after we started he calmly said, there is a Musky following my bait, I said quick do a figure 8, well you know how that goes, fish gone. We fished from 6:30 am until noon and had 13 Musky’s strike the lure. We put 2 in the boat a 25” and a 33 all on the chartreuse and white 3/8 oz. it has changed my Musky fishing for sure, if I don’t get bit and catch a Musky ever time I go out, I fell like a failure. You have to love them, 35 hours and 1 buzz and it still works perfect and looks great. I attached a two way treble hook on the back, that really helps.

Geeks Fish Too : Highly Recommend! Very few Buzz baits compare to Booyah!
Excellent lure. Use them all the time and catch many large fish on them. The extra interference blade makes good noise at fairly slow speeds.
In my experience the buzz bait is often misunderstood so I am writing this review to help others learn how to use it.
NOTE: This is a top water bait. If you want to fish something comparable below the surface, use a spinner bait.
Where to fish:
- Around and over structure.
- Over or near weed beds.
- Places in Central Texas: Lake Waco (in standing timber), Stillhouse Hollow Lake, Llano River, Colorado River, San Gabriel river.
When to fish buzz baits:
- Any time the water is smooth and the fish are active.
- Spring to early summer.
- Late summer to late fall.
- During summer at night and - 15 minutes before dawn to 30 minutes after and same for sunset.
- Whenever bait fish are active.
- When water temperature is as close to 70 as possible (active bait fish is more important than temperature!).
Colors and methods:
- White, Yellow, Chartreuse during the day, Black at night or around sunset (think silhouette).
- Cast and *steady* retrieve with lure just barely on surface making a blurping/squeaking noise.
----Not so slow that you can't hear it or see a splash.
----Not so fast that it sounds like a motorboat.
----Make it "talk" to you.
- Be prepared to cast 20-30 times between fish.
- Sometimes it's every 3rd cast but those days are usually only once or twice a year (if you fish once a week.)
- If you know the fish are biting and you've seen a fish jump, don't stop trying a particular structure till you've cast a good 20 times from different angles.
- Use a kayak to sneak up on fish - this is like hunting! The fish can see and hear you way more than you think!
- From a boat: cast the bait so it lands almost on shore (within 6 inches!) and then make every effort to instantly get the blades moving at the same pace for at least the first 20ft from shore. If you are in a kayak, keep it going all the way to the boat. Cast in areas where there is underwater structure or between weed beds. A log in the middle of the river or standing timber in a lake is *prime* territory.
- From Shore: Cast out 30-40ft and bring your bait in guiding it through weeds, etc so that it takes a path that brings as close to shore as possible. Look for underwater brush or weeds to cast over.
- Remember: the warmer or colder the water is from 70 degrees, the less likely the fish will bite so you *MUST* get the lure right in front of them.
--- The buzz bait elicits a response when other baits do not.
What to expect from fish:
- It's rare to have a fish "slurp" a buzzbait.
- Usually the reaction is violent and "setting the hook" isn't necessary.
- Often have fish blow the bait out of the water literally and not get hooked.
- Drawback is that there is only one hook so keep your line tight while fighting the fish!
- Use trailing hooks to increase your odds of hooking a fish and keeping it hooked.
My experience is that Boohyah buzz baits are some of the best. These with the extra interference blade make the noise nearly perfect. Have caught many large bass on this buzzbait.
There are other brands like those from Strike King that are decent too. Most recently used is "Strike King Premier Plus Buzzbait - The Double Take" which has two blades (see my review on it). Other than this, I don't think anyone else has a buzzbait that makes more noise that this Booyah buzzbait. The Strike King miniature buzz baits are real nice for those times when the big baits are too big. Have caught way more bass on the small ones than the big ones.
In retrospect, I recommend the 3/8's ounce vs. the 1/2 ounce. At 7-8 inches long, the 1/2 oz seems too big to me. Maybe I'll catch something on them but I haven't yet. Go with the 3/8's. Have caught several large bass on them this spring (4lb +).
Tight lines,
VanVortex
UPDATE 8/11/15: I have used the 8in buzzbaits now all summer and I can't say they catch fish any different than the smaller ones! In fact, it's possible that I've caught bigger fish because of them though maybe not as many. But I've had a couple of those "Every 3rd cast" type days. (Look up hillcountryfishingrods at blogspot dot com to read about my adventures this summer so far.) I can't wait to use these on a bass lake known for large bass.

Andrea : Product as advertised
I like to night fish with it
Amanda Kordes : So so lure for me
I haven't had any luck with this lure buy it seems very durable with a nice hook. I think you need a deep body of water to get strikes on this lure. Small ponds and rivers haven't done well with this lure for me.
Gustave : Five Stars
First fish I hooked with this was a 7lb largemouth. The clacker makes it happen.

I always buy this best for summer time bass cant stop popping on this wish they were a little bit cheaper
ALEX : A must have in a tackle box????????
Possibly like others I was skeptic on how this would work. But it does. I bought the black version and fished it at night. It sure did cause the reaction bites from the big fish out there. Definitely recommend it

Used this a couple times without getting a bite yet but both times I didn't get much activity on anything else either. The action is awesome though. It's pretty good sized and you can cast it a country mile. Can't wait to get a hit. The hook is crazy sharp too.
Chad : Ok
Very big
