The Open Country Gardenmaster Dehydrator, Model FD-1010SK, provides you with a fast and powerful way to dehydrate food for camping, hiking or food storage. It features 1000-watts of drying power, a quiet 2,400 RPM motor that circulates air up the exterior pressurized chamber, then horizontally across each individual tray, converging in the center of the dehydrator so each tray receives its own supply of fresh, dry air. This exclusive Open Country dehydrator design prevents flavor-sharing and produces even drying without tray rotation. The thermostat is adjustable from 95° to 155°F. Does the temperature range? it says 160 degrees and then 155. which one is it? Thanks

Answer: It is a variable dial that goes up to 160 degrees. You can adjust lower as needed. Not sure if that answers your question

Will the trays from my sportsmans kitchen fit the gardenmaster?

Is the lid not supposed to close all the way down?

Answer: Not really, it's a loose fit but it doesn't stop the drying process at all. I put the lid on and move it in a circular motion a little until it settles where it seems to cover the fruit, meat, veggies or herbs then turn it on. I like mine. I can't imagine returning it for a lid that doesn't snap down.

Answer: Yes the lid sits on the top rack and fits tight.

What is the country of origin/manufacture'??

Answer: Not sure but printed on the box is "Made in the USA" and all the documentation refers to a company in Two Rivers, WI.

How long is the warrenty?

Can any parts go into the dish washer?

Answer: I put the trays and the top disc in the dishwasher and they come out very clean. I also spray the bottom part (heating fan) with cooking spray before making jerky. hope this helps.

Answer: If you want a dehydrator that works fast then this is the one you want to purchase.

Answer: 1000 watt is the best thing for a home use, donot go for that cheap 200&300 watt , waste of time and money .

Answer: I would say go for the best one the 1000 watts.

is the heating element at the bottom and hard to clean?

Answer: The heating element is in the bottom. The heat comes up out of a 2" opening in the middle and has a mesh screen to keep food out. It comes with a plastic piece that fits in the bottom tray to keep drippings off the housing.

Answer: Its not hard to clean. I actually use the fruit roll device to cover the bottom where the drippings would fall. The heat/fan blows through the center hole of the cover so it cleans up nice.

Answer: used it over 10 times, no mess and no cleaning required , it is closed solid where dripping could get caught and not go the heating element compartment , we love it .

Answer: We use a fruit leather tray on the first layer and this blocks stuff from falling into the base/element area

Answer: Never had anything drip bad enough to get it dirty. We have done Roma tomatoes and peaches but if you start out with them skin side down they don't really drip much at all. Have not done jerky as we have a smoker

Answer: This model is essentially the same as the FD-1018, it was under a different brand of ours.

Has anyone used the 350w and upped to this 1000w to make jerky? What are the cooking time differences

Answer: We use ours to make venison jerky all the time and it takes about 8 hours. We have the 1000w and never used the 350w.
