Do you still need to fire your grill on while smoking using this tube? I have never tried a smoker before and wants to learn.

Answer: Yes, you still have to turn the grill on so it cooks the food. Once the smoker is lit just place it on one side of the grill. Try to avoid putting the smoker directly above the flames. If you want to smoke cheese, use the smoker with the grill off.

Answer: That depends on what you are smoking. If you are doing something like cheese, then the tube on it's own will ne fine. You don't want it hot with cheese or it will melt. If you are doing anything else, like meat the tube isn't enough to produce the heat that you need. You will need to fire up the grill in order to get enough heat for that. This tube and pellets will be used to add the smoke flavor.

Answer: no not designed for charcoal

I have a smoker but temp is to high to smoke cheese, can i use this to smoke cheese with no heat source ?

Answer: Yes, I place it in my grill with the burners off when I smoke cheeses.

Some folks complain about whether the tube smoker will stay lit. Did this product keep the pellets lit?

Answer: Yes, it will stay lit for up to 5 hrs depending on the wind. Make sure when you light it, the end flames for about 8-10 minutes before blowing it out. Also avoid placing the pellet tube directly above the flames on the grill, I always put mine to one side on the edge of the grill. Once properly lit, it will produce a nice steady stream of smoke.

Just add wood pellets. Set it on the grill and the burner your going to use. Set the burner on low heat. I used a blow torch and lite the open end.About 15 mins It put out a lot of smoke. It smoked 2 hours and 15 mins. The ribs were great. Just make sure that the smoker doesn't catch on fire it will not smoke, just spray little water on it and it will start to smoke again. I order 2 smoker and gave one as a gift, works good on any grill.

It produces smoke, albeit not a lot. Yes, I have a regular smoker, but wanted this tube to use in my BBQ grill for smaller pieces of meat. Also, you'll need a blowtorch to light it. Note, the advertised "included" cookbook was not in the delivered package, and I bought two, one as a gift and no cookbook in either. In retrospect, I don't recommend it for experienced smokers.
