Can it handle fish that weights about 15 to 20 pounds

Answer: Yes, we actually use this as a drop net when pier fishing.

What is the weight of the crab net without the package?

What is the mesh size? Wondering if I could use them as a shrimp dip net.

Answer: This net is primarily only useful for large crustaceans like west coast Dungeness or Rock Crabs. It can also be used for east coast Blue Crabs. But anything small, like shrimp, would easily slip through it's mesh. In fact, two shrimp, even large ones, can merrily waltz together through the mesh size of this. For shrimp, IIRC you'll need something along the size of 0.25 of an inch. The space here is something like 1.5 inch. Sorry, but you'll have to try something else, I'm afraid.

Answer: we didn't use them this year, so if my memory serves me well, the mesh is pretty big. I don't think they would be good for shrimp......

Does it collapse to flat so crab can crawl in?

Answer: Yes

how much does it weigh? Can I carry on a kayak?

Answer: I've never gone Kayaking so I really can't relate; but relatively speaking, if I were in a sitting position and had to handle this net, I would personally find it rather cumbersome because of it's size. The weight alone isn't so bad. But combined with a few crabs, or with clumps of seaweed, the weight can go up exponentially. Again, if I were forced to be in a sitting position to perform maneuvers (like pulling it from the water, taking out crabs and then putting the net back in), I would find it difficult.

Answer: Bonded twine

How would this type of trap be for blue crabs. In your opinion ?

Answer: We have caught them in this trap. we usually tie raw chicken in the bottom of it as bait.

really nice trap. the rings are solid and the net seems well made. our first use of the net was successful. we tied four chicken legs in center and mid way of the rings we tied three at different spots on the net. pulled six crab in on the first pull. love it and would recommend this trap to anyone who wants to enjoy the crab catching.

Nice and big , The rings are Steel not alum. as stated in the description , But that's ok IF they don't rust too bad. The netting is A little flimsy But time will tell on that point. I will use it for Pier fishing not crabbing. Overall A good value.

The rings and net seem to be heavy duty but there is no place to tie the rope to bring it up. I may have to tack some rings onto the top ring so the retreval rope will stay centered when bringing it up.

Description says aluminum rings, but the item label says steel rings which I verified because they are attracted to a magnet.

Other than that, it seems to be well-made and is a large size, so I may keep anyway.

i saw this one day and figured it would be super tiny but its not its perfect i couldnt quite afford a crab pot at 100 a pop and a traditional ring is 40 bucks here in newport oregon for the price its amazing

i bought this because its cheap and good quality . i do have another net from walmart which was 30 bucks... but this one i should say for 14 bucks its good... u have to buy ur own lines but its a very good net for this price. the rims are metal with good net lines. its very big net so catch a good amount of crab. i catch for fun so this is perfect

Very well made, heavy steel rings, they must be plated, zinc maybe, because after using it in saltwater several times without rinsing it still hasn't rusted.
