Questions about COSORI CO165-FD Food Dehydrator (50 Recipes) for Jerky, Meat, Herbs, Fruit, Dryer Machine with digital temperature,5 Trays, Overheat Protection, ETL Listed
Q:
So besides $100, what is the difference in functionality between this (co165-fd) and (cp267-fd)?
Answer: The plastic food dehydrator (CO165-FD) is 450 Watt with 5 round plastic trays, while the stainless steel food dehydrator (CP267-FD) is 600 Watt and has 6 square stainless steel trays. Hope this helps!
Q:
is it okay to run while you're sleeing or not home?
Answer: I have a different Cosori model but to be absolutely safe it is better to run it when home and awake. A few years ago there was a recall of a food dehydrator that posed a fire hazard--check google.
Answer: Yes, I actually had to leave home with it running when my child had an emergency at school, it shut itself off when the time was up. Also it’s very quiet so it won’t disturb you in your sleep.
Answer: I do it all the time, it’s about as safe as letting your refrigerator run while you aren’t home. Something like a crockpot is a grey area for most, but this is just a high powered fan with nominal heat.
Answer: I would never leave anything like this running while you're sleeping or not IN the home. There's ALWAYS a chance of fire.
Answer: ' nominal heat.' LOL. 450W, so it's about half of most 1000W ovens or a 1000W heater. If the fan broke and whatever safety they put in it didn't function and shut it down, you'd definitely be risking a fire. Non-flammable surface with extra width underneath, wide margin to anything else around it, and fairly close to a smoke detector and you'd likely be safe enough and be awakened by the smoke detectors if something went wrong.
Answer: I do it all the time. So far, so good. There is a timer on it so it will automatically shut off when the timer goes off.
Answer: Yes
Q:
Is there a way to order more of the fruit roll sheets or are there any other ones I can purchase that will fit?
Answer: I've tried some other brands and I can tell you that "National Presto Dehydro Fruit Roll Sheets" do not work - they're 1/2" too large. Their nonstick mesh screens do work in the Cosori.
Answer: We have not sold accessories separately, but are working on producing some to meet your needs. If you have any question or issue, please contact our customer service team for further help. We are always happy to be at your service!
Q:
What is the warranty?
Answer: Your Cosori comes with a 1-year warranty and You can extend your 1-year warranty by an additional year. Log onto and enter your order number within the first 14 days of your purchase to register your new product for the extended warranty. During the warranty, We'll take responsibility for any product issue. Hope this helps. Feel free to reach out to us through email, phone or Amazon Message if you have further questions.
Answer: I’m not sure but their customer service is great. They respond quickly to emails. They sent me a new lid for free even though it was totally my fault it broke.
Q:
Can I buy individual tray? I broke one.
Answer: You can go to cosori.com and buy 2 trays together.
Answer: We have not sold a tray separately, but would like to assist you and resolve this issue. Feel free to contact our customer service team for further help!
Q:
How loud is it?
Answer: Not sure what to compare it to, but definitely a constant humming noise, like a sound machine.
Answer: To me it’s real quiet. My dishwasher is louder than it.
Answer: About 40 decibels. Refrigerator humming.
Answer: It is very quiet.
Answer: Very quiet.
Answer: It's like a small table top fan on low speed.
Q:
Since Cosori still hasnt come out with additional trays, has anyone bought a second dehydrator and just uaed the trays?
Answer: On another answer someone said to contact the Cosori company and you can buy 2 trays! That was a year ago. Hope this helps!
Answer: I just use the trees that came with her. I think there’s five trays and that was enough for me.
Q:
Description says designed in California, but where was it actually made? Is this dehydrator made in China?
Answer: This dehydrator is designed in California and manufactured in China.
Answer: Who knows where anything's made. All I can say is excellent customer service and an excellent product. I rated 5+ stars. Being Cali based this has to fit Cali prop 65 compliant.
Answer: Almost everything is made in China or another foreign country.
Answer: Yes.
Q:
Can this be used to dehydrate nuts?
Answer: Temperature settings start at 95F - 115F suitable for nuts - never done it before. However, I would say yes, you can dry nuts in it. I love this dehydrator using it for fruits, meats, etc. so many possibilities and easy to clean.
Answer: There is very little moisture in nuts. And they keep best if you keep out air and keep them cool. This means you should probably NOT dehydrate them, because dehydrating exposes them to air and heat--which makes them go rancid, icky-tasting, and less nutritious. The difference in weight between fresh nuts and dehydrated nuts would be small, and they're already lightweight, anyway.
Answer: Yes, you can. You can set the food dehydrator to 150°F for Nuts and Seeds. Hope this helps! Let us know if you need any further help.
Q:
Where to buy just the plastic lid? I cant find it on amazon.
Answer: Currently, we do not have spare parts available for individual sale. If you are looking to have any parts replaced under warranty, please feel free to reach out to our support team. We would be happy to hear from you!
Answer: no sorry
Q:
which is better round or square dehydrators
Answer: I never had a square one, but I do have the round one which seems very efficient with no disappointments so far . I love this one and will continue to enjoy it.
Answer: this is the only one i have used and love it. capacity is the difference.
Q:
Has anyone had good results using the fruit roll sheet instead of the mesh screen for small seeds or nuts?
Answer: I haven’t been using this item for seeds and or nuts but I’ve been using fruit roll sheets for some small herbs and flowers. Making jasmine tea, spices and etc...
Q:
From the description it does not have overheating protection? no sensor built in to check for overheating, that is how i am reading it?
Answer: Overheating is extremely rare. If the dehydrator overheats, it will automatically shut down as a safety feature, and will no longer turn on. Please reach out to us if you have any questions!
Answer: It does have overheat protection.
Answer: Apparently not. I tried to let it "rest" for a few days, but it still would not work. I actually used it 5 times before it stopped working. Also, I never heard back fro Cosori about a replacement or refund.
Answer: I don't think it overheat it dries the beef jerky real good but the lid just cracked for no reason at all I wouldn't buy this one I find one of them thicker lid
Answer: UL underwriting requires emergency shut off, to meeting the standards in the USA
Q:
Do you have to rotate trays during process?
Answer: Rotating the trays helps to keep the drying process consistent. I got better results when I started rotating the trays. It is very easy to do.
Answer: I did not when I worked on fruits and veggies. One reason I liked it so much!
Answer: I don’t think it’s necessary. However I have done it
Answer: No
Answer: I haven’t used it yet. Sorry.
Q:
Do they sell extra trays for these
Answer: I was also looking for some trays and I couldn't find them
Answer: See nothing about additional trays in the literature that came with machine. Excellent product tho with 5 trays plus 2 inserts.
Q:
How long for jerkey? Does it make a food-sized batch of jerkey? This would dehydrator would be for a gift for someone who currently makes jerkey in ov
Answer: 18-24 hrs depending on thickness of meat and amount of meat per drying session. I made a batch that was 6 lb of raw eye of round. It should be a huge improvement and less expense over the oven.
Answer: It’s takes about 6 hours to cook jerky. We get around 2-3 lbs of meat and the machine is packed. Bought this for my husband and he uses it weekly to make fresh jerky
Answer: This is a good dehydrator. Comes with a manual to operate and a receipe book. There are 13 receipes for jerky...most are beef . My husband uses the garlic-soy receipe for beef jerky and drying time is 6 hours which is perfect.
Answer: I have not made jerky yet. This dehydrator comes with a small recipe book. Not sure if this answer helps...
Q:
Is the entire unit BPA free?
Answer: Yes! The plastic we used is BPA-free. If you have further questions, please contact our customer service team and let us assist you. Hope this helps!
Answer: I know that it says in the description that all the trays are BPA free.
Q:
Where can I purchase extra trays? (Not mesh screens) I would like to have more than 5 trays for big batch dehydrating.
Answer: Did you find the trays?
Answer: Get from Amazon or check Cosori website.
Q:
American made?
Answer: The item is designed and tested in California and manufactured in China. We hope this helps!
Q:
I have bought it, and noticed it is only 120v. in my country, plugs are at 230v. i did not plug it yet. how can i adapt to plugs here ?
Answer: You should be able to buy adapter that allow it to be used on a 230v outlet. That’s what we used when we travel out of the US.
Q:
I am wondering if I received a defective product. Has anyone noticed their product making a rattling noise as if the fan is loose?
Answer: Yes, that does sound defective. I have the same issue. Noticed it immediately as the sound of a loose fan that's striking somewhere as it spins.
Answer: I received mine in perfect condition. Worked as described. My fruits and meats have been perfect. The humming noise from the fan is not bad but I did place it in another room since the kitchen and family room are close together. I think you may need to send yours back since your having those issues.
Answer: Just normal fan hum in ours, no rattle. Would call the company, feel they are reputable and helpful from all the reviews
Answer: It sounds like a small (8”) desktop fan to me. Definitely not silent, but not rattling or anything like that.
Answer: I have not noticed any unusual sound coming from ours.
Answer: Mine is quiet, no rattling. Contact customer service
Q:
will dehydration preserve the fruits?
Answer: Yes, it will preserve them. Below is an article of drying/Dehydrating fruits. A different article advised "Store in a cool, dry, and dark place. Dried foods can maintain quality for up to a year depending on the storage temperature. The cooler the storage temperature, the longer dehydrated foods will last. "
Answer: It is best to store the dehydrated food in a glass jar or air tight bags. I have stored my veggies in canning jars for months with no problem. Keep in a cool dark space when possible. You will be surprised how much better the fruit, berries and veggies taste that often you won't be keeping them more than a couple of weeks.
Answer: Most dried fruits can be stored for 1 year at 60ºF, 6 months at 80ºF. Vegetables have about half the shelf-life of fruits.
Answer: They can be refrigerated for 3-6 months
Answer: ABSOLUTELY
Q:
Is this product bps free? it states that it’s bpa free but doesn’t mention bps
Answer: Your quite astute. But the unit is a BMF.
Q:
For those who use this at least once a week, how has this impacted your electric bill?
Answer: We use this all the time, it hasn’t affected our electric bill at all, it’s a low setting for 6-12 hours.
Answer: i wish i knew because of electric heat it’s hard to eatimate
Q:
Can this be used to dehydrate breast milk?
Answer: I wouldn't think so. The dehydrator doesn't handle liquids well. But to be fair my wife is not lactating, so we can't test it for you.
Answer: Why ? Freeze it
Q:
Is there a nylon storage bag for this?
Answer: None indicated on the listing, and none included with my purchase.
Answer: Not with it
Q:
How can i buy extra trays? what can i do to buy extra trays? don't answer if you don't know. thanks
Answer: Accessories for our food dehydrators are available on Amazon. If you don't find the product you need, just get in touch with our support team for further assistance. We are happy to help!
Q:
What is all that come with the machine?
Answer: 5 grated trays and one solid insert for fruit leather making
Q:
Where to put fruit rollup tray to catch drips ?base or the bottom tray ? so you only have 4 trays to use instead of 5 ? use parchment paper on trays ?
Answer: Use the fruit roll-up tray on the base unit to catch any drips then wash the tray. No need to use parchment paper which can't be reused. Instead use non-stick Teflon food dehydrator sheets. They're re-usable.
Q:
What is the electricity cost? If it take 11 hrs to dry apple chips, how much electricity will spend?
Answer: That is impossible to answer, as the cost of electricity varies greatly depending on where you live. For example, the cost in U.S. Dollars can vary from $0.03 per KWh up to $0.19 per KWh, and I understand that in some parts of the world, it can go up to two or three times as much. If your electrical cost is $0.10/KWh, then 11 hours of use will run ~ $4.50.
Q:
Can you buy more trays?
Answer: The trays are not to be sold separately. If you have further questions, please reach out to our support team for further help. Our contact information can be found in the user manual. We hope to hear from you soon!
Answer: Yes
Q:
What is the depth of each individual drying tray?
Answer: From the part of the tray the food sits on to the top edge of the same tray is approx. 1/4 inch, and to the bottom of the tray sitting on top of that one is approximate 2 cm less than 1 whole inch. The entire tray from top to bottom is around 1-1/4 inch regardless of what height the food sits on it.
Answer: Each tray is about 0.25 inches thick. We hope this helps!
Answer: About quarter of an inch
Q:
Could this be used to dry onions and garlic to make our own onion and garlic powder?
Answer: Yes, you can use it for that. Here is an article that shows the process and some tips.
Answer: Yes as long as it was cut up. A whole onion wouldn't fit between drying trays
Q:
Is this BPS free?
Answer: Answer is indicated multiple times in listing.
Q:
It sounds like something stuck in the fan. What is it normal?
Answer: Normal was just a fan pushing air sound nothing rattling or against the blades. This was of course for the 31 days it worked before going dead (no lights when plugged in nothing).
Answer: No, that does not seem to be normal!
Answer: I've been using mine regularly, no problem or "noise" is probably something you spilled, suggest you find what it is, and clean it without taking any fixed part off
Answer: My dehydrator is fairly quiet. We can hear it run but it runs in a smooth type rhythm.
Answer: No I dont think so
Q:
Are the trays deep enough to dehydrate bananas whole? And, will the appliance work to dehydrate whole bananas?
Answer: I haven’t tried whole bananas but I have tried sliced bananas. The sliced bananas take 6-8 hours so I don’t know if whole bananas would work or even fit on the trays.
Answer: No not really
Q:
How long does this take to freeze dry mango?
Answer: Not sure, it comes with a small recipe book that tells you how long and at what temperature you need to dry certain fruits and vegetables.
Answer: This is not a freeze dryer
Q:
Will a 1kg 1.75mm 3d printer filament spool fit in the machine or will it only hold smaller reels?
Answer: Oh, absolutely, with room to spare...
Q:
What is the wattage of this dehydrator?
Answer: The power rating for this food dehydrator is 450W. Hope this helps! Let us know if you have any other questions.
Q:
Can anyone explain the wattage to me? How long does it take to actually dry out foods?
Answer: I have followed the recipe times/recommendations in the instruction booklet. I find that it takes a bit longer than my old dehydrator that did not have temperature or timer settings.
Answer: I haven't tried it out yet to determine if the book is accurate with the length of time it takes. SORRY
Q:
I love my dehydrator, but with as much beef jerky as has been made, I am conserned about in where the fan is. Is there a way to clean inside?
Answer: We recommend cleaning the surface of the base with a damp cloth, as there is not a way to get into the area where the fan is located. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
Answer: This was a gift for my son-in-law. I do not know the answer to your question. Sorry.
Q:
the plastic top has cracked and can no longer be used.. how can I order a replacement?
Answer: I would attempt to call the manufacturer CORSORI to find out if a replacement is possible. Some manufacturers have an order site. Its worth a try
Answer: I don't know mine have a little crack in it to the lids are real cheap
Answer: I would contact their customer support on website.
Q:
I need to run this for more than a couple days. Do I need to reset the timer, every other day or can I use it without the timer?
Answer: We used it to dry persimmons that were ripe and juicy. I set the timer for 10 hours. I am not sure what the maximum time is. If your product isn't dry, just reset the timer for additional time.
Answer: It will likely overheat. I had mine for a month and ran it for 20 hours then it stopped.
Q:
Just set up mine for the first time and it making a lot of rattling noise, really loud in fact. Anyone else?
Answer: I would get a hold of the manufacturer. Mine does make a noise while running, but not loud or rattling. Hope this helps.
Answer: My machine does not rattle. The humming noise of the motor running is a bit loud but not extremely so.
Answer: We can help! Please reach out to our team at your earliest convenience using the contact information located in the manual. We are here for you!
Q:
Feed up. Why does it take weeks for these items to arrive wheb youre offering fast ship? Over 2 weeks waiting. About to cancel.
Answer: Sorry can’t answer your question. All I can say that it’s the holidays and everyone is ordering plus because of the virus know once to go to the store or can’t. Just be patient.
Q:
I bake cut up sweet potatoes as treats for my dog, can I simply cut into thick chips and dry in this model? Would I need to bake or boil before?
Answer: I don’t think would need to bake or boil. They would come out like a potato chip. I would just cut into thick chips like you suggested.
Answer: My guess is that you could just put in the raw cut chips. You might have to experiment with the thickness to get exactly what you want. I do meat for my dogs and had to figure out just how thick to slick the beef hearts so I got a chewy treat that wasn't messy and wet and yet not to dried out. Good luck.
Answer: Depending on thickness you may have to dehydrate longer the thicker the item. But should work fine. Doubt you would need to bake or broil. I do banana chips for my pups. Because of moisture in the bananas it takes longer for those to dehydrate.
Q:
Directions for cleaning say soak in hot soapy water. not dishwasher safe
Answer: I just wiped off with a sponge in the sink and rinsed it off.
Q:
Does a book comes with it to show how to rehydrate food and the time for each
Answer: A book does come with it that tells all that
Answer: I think it's more of a pamphlet but there's plenty of advice out on Google. I rarely look at the pamphlet cause I prefer electronic data.
Answer: Yes it does
Answer: Yes
Q:
Does anyone actually rotate the trays while cooking? in the instruction manual it says to do so to help food finish at the same drying time.
Answer: If I’m around, I do rotate the trays. You can see that the lower ones dehydrate faster so it’s helpful. I usually just move the bottom two to the top 2-3 times furring a 12 hour period.
Answer: I have never rotated my trays and have never had an issue. I usually have 3-4 trays.
Answer: I've used mine a few times and I didn't rotate the trays. In my opinion, I think my bananas were pretty much the same anyway.
Answer: I rotate my trays.
Q:
can I dry blueberries?
Answer: I made dried blueberries but I had to cut them in half to do it. Make sure you place them cut side up, otherwise they stick to the tray. They were tasty.
Answer: There is a recipe book that includes the equivalent of fruit roll ups. The machine also comes with a special piece for drying small fruits. I haven’t tried blueberries, but I don’t see why you couldn’t.
Answer: can you dry homemade noodles in this machine?
Answer: While the recommended times on fruits in the recipe book doesn't list blueberries, it does list grapes (left whole) and cherries (pitted) and so many others; so I would say yes.
Answer: I don't believe you can if I understand your question properly. You CAN make 'fruit leather' with the Cosori, after you have blended/pureed the blueberries... think fruit roll-up.
Answer: Yes, you can! There is a whole list of different fruits and vegetables in the booklet that comes with the dehydrator.
Answer: If you do it in the first five week, yes. That sixth week, be prepared for it to just stop working AFTER you can no longer return it.
Product reviews of COSORI CO165-FD Food Dehydrator (50 Recipes) for Jerky, Meat, Herbs, Fruit, Dryer Machine with digital temperature,5 Trays, Overheat Protection, ETL Listed
Schmoo : Not dehydrating as it should
Ive used it once on highest setting for meat and was disappointed. Instead of 8-12 hrs I cooked some thin meat for nearly 24 and it wasn't totally dehydrated. I will give it one more shot before I send it back.
Jojo Salvador : not effective
not effective when dehydrating as it took forever most of the times....a lot of wasted energy for longer use...
Jamie Morgan : Can't be cleaned
It cannot be properly cleaned. There is a drip pan at the bottom and liquid drips down and dries. This pic is of it halfway cleaned when I worked on it for 20 minutes already. If it was removable you could run water over it and clean it in a jiffy. But it is attached to the machine motor and cannot be submerged or get very wet so damp towels is all you can use. I eventually resorted to usibg a knife to scrape it off. It is scratching the plastic and will become harder and harder to clean. Returns suck especially for such a large item so not sure what I'll do. I don't have time for this nonsense.
A. Castanza : Actually perfect
Super easy temperature controls and timer control. I’ve been using mine for a month and a half now, almost daily, for homegrown mushrooms and herbs and leftover produce. Excellent product. Make sure you follow the instructions and run the machine for half an hour in a well ventilated area (I just opened the window by it) before first use (and wash it, too) because it does give off a smell. Would highly recommend. So worth it!
Amazon Customer : Easy to use but a little loud
I bought this dehydrator to dry my 3D printing filament, so I'm usually running it on a lower temperature. This is an initial review since I haven't owned it that long. I really enjoy the user interface for this dehydrator. The "touchscreen" buttons are clean looking and responsive. The air temperature exiting the fan is accurate to +/- 1°F. When all 5 trays are used the temperature gradient from bottom to top is about 5-7°F, so it is also fairly uniform. It rattles a little when you first start it up, but then it quiets down after it reaches temperature. During operation, the fan can be heard even when I have it in another room. That's the only main drawback. If it was quieter, I would give it 5 stars. Overall, I am satisfied with the purchase. I would recommend this dehydrator.
Monita Fields : Easy to clean but The lid cracked in months. I called Amazon and they said 6 months has passed
I was going to send it back when i got it because there are so few shelves. When I dehydrate I do a lot. But I was desperate. I make my dogs treats so they are healthy. I have to do it way more often because of the amount I can make at one time. I have used it often since I got it, the problem I have and I am not sure how to contact the seller is the lid has already broken. It is very thin. I think it needs to be redesigned with more shelves and a thicker lid.
GerryGS : A healthier choice
We are using this dehydrator for about 1 month. It takes a little time to get good results, mostly because we have not use one before. I has several temperatures of adjustment and you will have to monitor your food so that it does not dehydrate too much. It maintains the taste of the food. It sounds like a fan but not too loud.
Amazon Customer : still trying it out
I am dehydrating bananas right now. We will see how that goes. I grew a lot of Basil, so I picked off the leaves and put on the 5 shelves at 95 degrees as recommended. As I had not used a dehydrator before, I set it at 5 hours so I could check on it. Nothing. I put it on another 5 hours. Still nothing. Another 5 hours. All in all, I put it on 5 hours 6 times and they still are not dry. These were whole leaves. I had also cut some up at the beginning and put on a paper towel. Those were dry in a day. The whole leaves are still moist after 3 days of cooking. I finally took them out, cut them up and put in a paper towel. They were dry enough to put in a jar after less than a day. So, the herb thing didn't work for me. I am now trying to dehydrate bananas. I only put two sliced bananas on one tray so I can see them through the plastic lid. I put them on for 10 hours. I will update after. UPDATE: I dehydrated bananas and apples in less than a day, so that worked. Just not my Basil. Maybe I should have raised the temperate instead of the recommended 95 degrees. 3 days trying to dry out Basil is absurd when they dried out in a day in a paper towel. The bananas and apple slices, however, less than a day and taste good.
solomonbundy : Convenient
This is my second dehydrator I've owned. I really like this because of the timer and temp functions (and automatic turn off!) My first dehydrator didn't have those things so I always had to make sure to be home to unplug it when the time came. This dehydrator is very simple to set the time and temp on and comes with an easy-to-read guide. I followed the instructions that said to run the dehydrator for 30 minutes the first time with nothing on it and it did give off a little bit of smell as it was supposed to; however, the next time I ran it and was actually dehydrating bananas for 12 hours, the smell it gave off was a lot more noticeable (and it wasn't the bananas, I think). The third time I ran it there was no more smell. I really like this dehydrator. Something I have to watch out for, though, is my autistic son touching the buttons on the front and turning it on, so I have to make sure I unplug it when I notice it's done drying.
This is a non-issue for me, but I know some people don't buy products not made in their country and so I am letting you all know the box does say that this is made in China.
Texrealt : It works as advertised.
My first project was 7 pounds of eye of round made into beef jerky. It worked perfectly. It was my first ever attempt at jerky with a fairly expensive cut of meat. I was impressed with this machine's performance. We have an older brand X model that still works and I used it for overflow. They both did will, but the Cosori finised faster due to higher maximum heat setting. I'm please with my purchase and don't hesitate to recommend. I'm enjoying the beef jerky!
yelley2010 : Perfect for a first
Purchased this as my first dehydrator. I wasnt looking for anything over the top as I'm just getting started. It's super easy to use. Quite frankly I didnt read the instructions. Came with a manual and a small "cookbook". My only gripe is that the brand/cookbook doesnt have more recipes. It does give a generic table for times and temperatures, but it doesnt cover everything (or more rather), even on their website. But the actual unit is fantastic. I've been looking up temp and time combos online and adjusting according to if the items have dried sufficiently enough or not. Super easy to clean and wipe down. Would definitely suggest as a first time unit or for smaller batches. Item came with 5 trays, a cover, a little mesh tray, and a fruit roll tray. It's also pretty quiet, nothing more than some white noise in the background, so we dont even notice it when it's running.
Amazon Customer : Gets the job done
I've made beef jerky and some fruit leathers and they all turned out great. Temperature maxes out at 165 F. I used a temperature laser gun and it does get very close to 165 at the middle. I didn't check the edges. Cleaning is alright. Expect to soak the racks in water and then scrub with a brush. As for noise, it does get loud if you don't have the cover on. If you have the cover on, then it's a tad quieter than a microwave. My biggest gripe is the height between each rack isn't that tall. Especially the top, because the cover doesn't provide as much height as the racks.
J. Hahn : Hoping for more but expectations may have been out of check
I was hoping to be able to dehydrate some vegetables to the point of very dry, almost crispy, I wanted to make snacks. While they do dry out the are still chewy not crispy, I will continue to work with it to see if I can get the outcome to the desired texture.
marc : Very bad lid
The only thing bad is a lid it's very thin and it cracks without even doing anything to it I think they should send me a new lid or another unit I don't think I'd buy another one having a lid like that without the lid the unit is worthless
DESY CHAN : *UPDATE* LOUD
First time I used it to make 1 lb of beef jerky. It's so loud, sounds like something stuck in the fan.
**UPDATE** 12th January 2021 I have contacted the customer service & they were very helpful. I received a new unit for replacement of the loud unit I purchased from Amazon & returned the noisy unit to the company. Everything works well, it does not create a loud noise. Thank you so much Cosori!!
Crazy quilter : Good machine
I returned this item but not for poor performance. Our fig tree produced over 1000 figs this year, 10 times its past history so I bought the dehydrator to dry some of the crop. It worked great, but I found I did not like dried figs, knew I would not use on other fruits etc so I returned the dehydrator.
Laurie Enokawa : Works great for making dog treats!
Love it!! I’ve made several batches of dog treats (chicken breasts, hearts & feet so far) and am very pleased with the results. Easy to use and clean. My dog is very happy too!
Joyce B : Very useful
This is the first time I am buying food hydrator so I don’t have much experience with these products . But I will let you know what I like about this product and what I don’t.
First of all it doesn’t make that much noise , very easy to use , automatically turns off after the drying time ends. And also very light , doesn’t take up much space in the kitchen. I only used it for fruits and so far so good for making fruit snacks.
Only downfall that I am not happy about is the trays are made with very fragile plastics that you have to be really careful to clean or wash them.
I will update if this product stays working or not.
Chris Colburn : Don't expect to receive it
I order two of these and one got to my local store then was sent back as soon as arriving. The second one got lost in transit to my location which made no sense. I loved using this product because my friends have them, and I like the control and design of it. But I am severally upset with these transactions.
Customer : Mostly Excellent with a Significant Design Flaw
I have owned my Corsori Dehydrator for a little over 1 year, and use it frequently. I love just about everything about it EXCEPT: the lid, which is fairly important to proper dehydrating, is made from a very thin, brittle plastic. Although I have always been careful in use and cleaning of my unit, my lid has cracked numerous times and now looks like a clear plastic pizza ready to serve. It has become unusable and, according to Corsori, is not available for replacement. It is disappointing and irritating to have to buy a whole new unit because a poorly constructed but important lid has failed miserably!
Ryanian : throw away. really noisy
First time use it but it has 100000 used sound. The noise is too loud
marc : Very bad lid
The only thing bad is a lid it's very thin and it cracks without even doing anything to it I think they should send me a new lid or another unit I don't think I'd buy another one having a lid like that without the lid the unit is worthless
Sentrisity : Used twice, cover cracked, great customer service
I like the temperature and time control on this machine. Seems to work well. Owned for less than one week, used twice and the cheap plastic cover has SEVEN cracks in it. It was not dropped, it cracked from use.
Update: I contacted the company and they immediately made it right. Updated to 4 stars due to great customer service.
J. Patterson : By far the best one I’ve found
I searched for quite a while before buying a dehydrator because I wanted one that did everything from temperature ranges (high and low), had a timer that would shut off the machine when done, multiple tray types (most only come with one type) to use for various reasons, one that wasn’t overly expensive and one that was quiet enough that you don’t hear it running. This was the only one that I found that did it all. I am very happy with this product. I have used it for multiple foods and have to say I am beyond happy with this product. Definitely recommend!!
Logan G : Great value
I purchased the dehydrator with drying herbs in mind, but with the variable temperature controls I can do so much more and not have to be concerned with 'cooking' at the correct temperature. Clean up is a breeze and everything that we have made has been wonderful. Great value for the money.
Chris Colt : High Quality, Precise Temp control, Large capacity, easy clean, PERFECT for "Sticky Tape Syndrome"
I am using this food dehydrator for 2 purposes - 1) the same traditional way most people are using it - for dehydrating fruits, veggies, fruit rollups and making jerky - for this unit is excellent, precise (temp & timer - temp checked w/ calibrated 4 temp probes placed on every other tray including top & bottom -very close temp range between each tray) , easy to use/program, a breeze to clean - trays are dishwasher safe - I chose not to expose then to the harsh dishwasher temps/ detergents - they are coated so food releases so easily even the fruit rollups sticky thick liquids come right off w/hot water & a sponge. 2) Audiophile/Videophile - Analog/digital magnetic tape "baking" to fix "Sticky Tape Syndrome". I own many analog tapes (reel to reel, cassettes & video VHS, Betamax etc..) Ampex brand tapes in particular (not only this brand), made between late 60's to early 90's have tape formula problem that allows moisture from humidity to cause the glue binder in the tape to liquify causing tapes to literally come apart while playing in your machine - tape particles stick to heads, capstans etc.. ruining your precious audio, video tapes & potentially causing damage to Tape player, VCR, video camera or best case, a mess to clean off all that brown residue that peeled off of tape - BTW that residue was once sound or video so it is now gone forever - imagine an important family event on VHS now parts stuck to your VHS player head - ruined tape. You can tell if you have sticky tape if tape squeals / screeches when you try to play, or if machine jams or is sluggish when rewinding/fast forwarding - playback either sounds flat - no high end for audio or video that is grainy or full of "noise" lines then usually starts getting stuck pouring out on floor. STOP immediately, remove tape - hand wind if necessary & proceed to "baking" (don't try this with conventional gas or electric ovens even convection types - they are not made to maintain PRECISE low temps for long periods with constant air flow - u will possibly melt tapes or not remove moisture like a dehydrator was designed to do - low even temp, air flow & long bake time 48 hour minimum - REQUIRED). By "baking" the tape in the right type of food dehydrator @ 120 to 130 Degrees F for 24 to 48 hours & a 24 hour cool down after (Cosori has large enough trays to bake several 10.5" reels & multiple VHS, cassette, 8 track tapes on different trays as many as you can fit lying flat). Tapes may need a second bake if badly sticky, if so, "rinse & repeat". I checked Cosori for stray magnetic fields from blower motor & heating element with a lab grade magnet-o-meter and there were none even @ bottom close to motor, so no risk erasing your recordings. It works - that is why I tested temperature regulation on each tray to make sure there were no wild temp swings from tray to tray. Once baking is complete tapes will play as new but may need treatment again if stored in humid environment - keep tapes in air tight container w/ humidity absorbing packets you can buy @ Amazon or locally - keep box in temperature controlled dry environment. There are several internet & youtube articles/videos explaining this "sticky tape syndrome" & how to treat specific formats/tape sizes for Video (VHS, Beta, mini type "C" VHS even data storage mag tape media), Audio (cassette, 8-Track, Reel to Reel) if you "google" it. The Cosori model# CO-165 FD is HIGHLY recommended for this purpose because of it's large diameter trays, space between trays, great temperature and timer regulation and fantastic price for this level of quality.
As a food dehydrator also excellent for same reasons above - included cook book/recipes excellent primarily for its General Food Dehydration Chart - which lists dozens of fruits, veggies, herbs, flowers and meats providing time and temperature guidelines for "safe" minimum standards to properly dehydrate & store various foods correctly - which require refrigeration or air tight room temp storage after dehydration - fewer inedible dried up tidbits and no "food poisoning" risks from bacteria from improper dry times or storage.

Dan : Need new lid but am unable to get one
You can't purchase a replacement lid. And it's light weight plastic and can break. As did mine. You can get additional trays all day long but no lid. Disappointed.
Uncookie : Awesome little unit with a self-timer
We've used this to dehydrate several meals for backpacking and it works very effectively. I particularly like the temperature control and timer feature which turns it off after a prescribed number of hours. The meals that we have been able to prepare for the trail have rehydrated well and are much healthier than high-cost pre-packaged freeze dried stuff loaded with sodium. I am happy with this purchase.
Anonymous, happy customer ... : I love this device...BIG HIT with dieting chicks!
No, seriously, this little device works great, I have apples on, as we speak. Cleans up nice, heat is good, timer also. Very flexible, at a good price-point. Also, It takes the chill out of the room. I adore double-duty products!
Christina : Died before we even tried anything good
It stopped working after only using it twice. So disappointed.
Amazon Customer : Highly recommended
My husband and I have wanted a dehydrator for years and assumed we couldn't afford a decent one, until we found this guy! It's super easy to use, doesn't put out bad smells, and is SO QUIET (we live in a small apartment, it was a concern). It just sounds like a white noise machine. I've only used it for mushrooms so far (it's full of enokis in the picture). My tips are 1. Absolutely rotate the trays, even if you just switch the top and bottom ones every few hours, 2. Really try not to overload each tray too much, and 3. Go to Cosori's seller page and buy some more mesh screens. The mesh screens have been a life saver for mushroom bits that are already small and get even smaller when dried
Nancy K. Holsted : MADE IN CHINA
I researched online and it clearly said made in USA.. box marked in big letters. MADE IN CHINA. I want to support my own country. I haven't used it yet so can't respond to the other questions regarding cleaning, temp, and use.
Emily S. : Great for a First-timer!
I am loving this dehydrator! This is my first one and it has been getting used for sure. I have done several different fruits and they were delicious! I also made jerky from a top round roast that turned out great. The only negative thing I have to say is that the trays are a little hard to clean up after the jerky. You have to clean in between each slot of the tray....not the end of the world; it just takes time. I would definitely recommend this dehydrator!
Amanda decker : Awesome except one major thing ( to me anyway)
So I have had this for about a week and Its been running non stop. So far so good.. very simple to use but I have one problem... why is the plastic liner that goes under the 1st tray not removable... I mean its what going to catch the most stuff... it really needs to be able to snap out for easy cleaning. It's like the most needed part to clean...
Betina Roher : Fan motor burned out before one year, warranty claim submitted
Fan motor burned out just shy of a year; we maybe got six or seven uses out of it in that time period. I submitted a warranty claim 10/7/2020, so we'll see how the customer service end of things goes.
Update: Customer service was very responsive, so that's worth another two stars. CS wanted a video of the fan not working; so when I recorded that the dehydrator started smoking and melted a little. I was told that I couldn't get a replacement shipped because of CA wildfires, so they offered a refund of the original purchase price; I pointed out that their Amazon store has these in stock to deliver in two days to Eastern PA, but for an increased purchase price ($20 more vs. last year).
CS sent me an Amazon gift card for the more expensive identical model on 10/9/2020 after five or six emails, so I will order another. Let's hope that this one doesn't catch fire?
Chris : Great All Around Dehydrator
There are limitations to the heat settings, but it is easy to use and has enough capacity to deal with an abundance of harvested fruit. It is easy to clean. We have a photovoltaic system so use it during the day so don't use too much power drying fruit.
Worthy Active : quality
while Im loving the Dehydrator, the top has already cracked to the point i need to re order. Also the Trays are very hard to truly clean, even after soaking. I would buy again .. black if they made it along with getting extra plastic tops.
Ron J. : Works great for my needs.
Bought this to heat my 3D printer filament. Worked great for that. Just cut some of the trays to fit the filament and was good to go. There is a .stl on thingiverse.com That you can print so you dont need to cut the trays if you want to.
Brandon : Works decently, with room for design improvement
First of all, it is certainly usable. I have used it 4 times so far over the course of a month for dried fruit. It's relatively quiet, especially if the top lid sits flush, with some audible fan whooshing and hum. The 4 touch button digital control board is simple to use and program. However, there are some design issues I've noticed. 1. Like most stack-able dehydrators, the trays are somewhat troublesome to clean thoroughly. The tray design for this model has a drip catch trough (?) around each tray, which is not useful as a drip catcher due to the mesh nature of the tray. It is very narrow and difficult to clean even with a sponge. 2. Secondly, the center air intake does not have some kind of cover or removable cover. Plus it overlaps with the hole in the center of the trays so some of the items can partially hang over it, causing it to drip into the base. Things certainly drip. I've been using the fruit leather tray at the bottom to catch drips, but it's a bit hot for the tray. 3. The most annoying issue I've had so far is that the lid is super close to the tray. There is a nice 3/4" + gap between each tray which can fit most things, such as smooshed apricot halves. However, the clear top sticks close to the tray. In addition, there is a divet around the center of the top which forms a makeshift handle, but pushes nearer to the tray. This makes it so that unless you have very flat or small objects to dehydrate, less than half the top tray is usable (and only usable for smaller medium sized pieces (think half a cherry). I tried dehydrating quartered apricots smooshed flat on the top layer and the lid couldn't close flush with the sides of the tray because it smushes against the apricots. Most of the hot air tends to flow out from the sides of the top tray and lid rather than recirculate. It also makes the fan sound much more audible when it is not flush.
Overall, it is definitely usable to dry fruit pieces. Like other stackables, it is a bit difficult to clean. It has some design flaws which could easily be fixed. All in all, I would recommend getting a slide in tray type dehydrator rather than a stackable.
Eve : Great dehydrator
I love this dehydrator. My first batch of jerky was perfect, and I was able to eat it same day. The recipe book is also convincing me to try new recipes.
Brady Reed : Cosori's great support!
My out-of-the-box dehydrator failed to turn on with my first use. Needless to say, I was sorely frustrated. I called Cosori support hoping that there was some kind of reset, but alas, no. The pleasant support representative simply sent me another dehydrator. I didn't even have to return the original. The replacement dehydrator came in a few days and I was off the races, dehydrating to my heart's content. I was very satisfied with Cosori's support.
BTW, after I realized that I need not return the original dehydrator, I disassembled the dehydrator, thinking I may find a loose connection. I'm not an electronics guy and I found nothing that seemed amiss.
Brady Houston, Texas
Amazon Customer : decent for the price
I purchased this to get in to dehydrating left over produce from store. The packages of veggies in the store are too big for my small family to finish so I take out what we will eat in a timely manner and dehydrate the rest then process into powders to be added to food later. This works well for for most produce but doesn't work too well for things like tomatoes, and meat for jerky. Not sure if it me or the machine at this point.
Vanessa : Is this what adult excitement is?
New favorite toy! They're a little big for my dishwasher so i power washed them with super hot water in the (clean disinfected) shower... worked great! Made jerky! Gonna make more this week!
glutenfreemom : don't bother
I have tried drying basil leaves, rose petals, etc. I don't fill it up or put the herbs very close together. It takes days. I mean days, running at 95 degrees constantly for the leaves to dry. Directions say it should take 8 hours.
Bonnie Netherland : DO not buy
I hate to say do not buy something, bc i go off of the ratings when i purchase from Amazon. However, it worked well for 2 months. I used it 2 times to dehydrate apples, 2 times to dehydrate sweet potatoes and 1 time for chicken feet. It stopped working in the middle of the cycle dehydrating chix feet (i got it to make inexpensive treats for my dog). Unfortunately it did not "pay for itself" before it just stopped working.
Rick S : Proceed with confidence....
Extremely easy to use, works exactly as it should, temps shown on the display match up within a degree or two of my temp gun, it’s a tad louder then I expected (however I didn’t really know what to expect)....it’s definitely not a small machine! It came packaged fantastically, kudos to the manufacturer....smart cause they won’t lose one to being damaged in transit! All around I’d fully recommend it and if the performance drops or something pops up I’ll edit this review but so far I’d say proceed with confidence on your purchase of the dehydrator
