does the vacuum suppose to shut off automatically or does it keep running?

Answer: No the vacuum does not automatically shut off. When you feel the bag no longer has air then you just press the right side to seal it.

Answer: the full extension of the lid downward turns the vacuum on. It is manual, and letting up on the pressure stops the vacuum mode. Seal it then release vacuum. Works good for the price.

what size bag rolls?

Answer: They have same brand of bags, and the ones we purchased were worthless. We never understood how to use them. Other brands did not work. We returned the sealer and tossed the 6 rolls of "bags", which were basically a piece of plastic doubled over.

Answer: They are 11"×33' rolls, 1 box of 3 rolls make approximately 66 6" bags.

Answer: The rolls I buy especially for the Deni machine are 11 inches wide and 20 feet long

Where can I buy replacement rolls for the Deni Freshlock 1331? Will any 11" rolls work with it?

Answer: I would love to know the answer to this question myself. I have not been able to use my Deni Freshlock because I have not been able to find the replacement rolls. I had ordered a 2-pk of 11 X20" rolls from Amazon and they were too large.

Answer: We purchased bags through Amazon. However the "bags" were a roll of plastic that was folded, required sealing 3 of the sides. We returned the sealer and put the bags in a junk sale; they should have simply gone into the trash.

Answer: I have used a variety of bags (brands) & all have seemed to work just fine. You can usually good find sales/coupons at your local "Super-Center" type stores, As well as some great deals here on Amazon. Note- If in doubt, Just purchase a size smaller in width. Good Luck!! :-)

Answer: I have only ever found the bags online...mostly here in Amazon. And no I'm afraid they won't. I guess its worth a shot but there's no garrantees of the other bags will retain the vacuumed affect. I personally don't care for the machine OR the bags for that reason. I'm looking to upgrade first chance I get.

Answer: I bought a "reconditioned" one, and it worked great for about the time it took the warranty to expire. Wouldn't get another one if it was free.

does the roll of plastic fit inside the machine?

Answer: The roll received with the machine does fit inside it. Not sure about the ones we purchased beforehand (they were Deni brand). We returned the unit. Recommend Foodsaver.

Answer: Not the best model I've ever used. Sounds like the air pump is broken. Throw it away and buy a Black & Decker - they seem to last longer. Good luck!

Answer: I don't know. However, I bought it January this year. It's useless. I follow all instruction. It sucks the air at first, but after sealing, I don't see the seal broken, but the food is not packed tight like in the middle of process. FYI, I use the bag sold together with the sealer.

Answer: I didn't have that particular problem, but I thought the wire was a very poor design for a sealing unit. Also, the bags are way too thin not to be melted and perforated by a hot wire. Sorry I can't help with your problem.

I ordered this thing thinking it would be a decent vacuum sealer and it's not. Product doesn't even have enough suction power to get the air out of the thinner-then-sandwich-bag-poorly-made vacuum bags. And even if it did, the sealing mechanism is an incredibly thin piece of wire that ready to break at any moment. This is a garbage piece of chinese plastic, a waste of energy and resources. Don't be fooled by the pictures and description this thing sucks, and not in the way it should.

Love the product works greats. This month I was able to separate each single piece of meat and freeze small meals also. Feels good to know you can control the portion of meals and pieces of meat and know it won't go to waste.

Purchased the bags first, to use with our other sealer. So thin they simply melted. Then we purchased this sealer thinking maybe the bags would work better. Still unable to accomplish a vacuumed seal.

I bought a Deni sealer many years ago and once I actually started using it I've never ever been happy with it. As stated by others, it does not vacuum all the air out of the bag (no matter how long you give it to do so) and it's a pain to use it.

I'm replacing it with a Foodsaver 2240. Enough said.

This did not have sufficient suction to provide even a tiny amount of vacuum. I did not expect it to perform like a $300.00 device, I expected to at least draw some the air from the bag.

You get for what you pay. At first the price for sure calls your attention, but you need to be aware that this is a cheap bagging solution. The bag is thin and cheap (to have an idea it's thin like a supermarket/grocecy plastic bag but less resistant).
Second sometimes it seals, sometimes it doesn't. So it doesn't matter how much you work to vacuum the air from the bag because sometimes the seal is not perfect and since the plastic bag is cheap, any meat with bone such as t-bone can damage the bag and make a whole.
I never worked with FoodSaver vaccum sealer but I saw their bags and if we compare the quality of the Deni bag with the FoodSaver on a scale from 0 to 10 I would give 1 to Deni and 10 to FoodSaver.

Shelly Belle : Don't waste your money

It doesn't seal anything properly. The vacuum head is tiny and there is no way to keep air out definitely. It seals precariously and you waste a lot of bags trying to figure out ways to 'make it work right'. Spend more money and get your money's worth from a better product.

This machine is horrible. The locking catch broke on the right side after 1 year of use. i thought possibly my wife somehow abused the machine. I purchased another one with explicit instructions to my wife not to ever use the replacement machine. Guess what? After 1 years use the locking catch on the right side broke again! This product is garbage!

I am so sorry to say, but I found this product worthless. Only after I purchased this item, I read reviews. Same minute I opened box, I tested it. It did not suck out an air, it did not do what I purchased it to do. Thankfully Amazon has good return policy, and I returned this item next day without paying for shipping.

This vacuum sealer does not seal bags and will not hold a vacuum because of this. The bags are too thin and it only has a heated wire to cut the bags which leaves a jagged edge that will not seal. The vacuum is very weak and does not stay. Spend any money for this sealer on something which will cost a bit more, but will work! I wasted time, money, and food on this!

In using the deni freshlock unit with their bags I have found that you get what you pay for. Within 48hrs., I found air had made its way into the bags. tried it over and over same results. so much for vacuum sealing .

I bought this on a budget. Wasted money. Has never worked properly. Bad design for the bags. You have to seal them on the side, not the top and bottom like other food sealers. Dumb idea, good luck trying to seal a long item like ribs. Vacuum never seems to get any air out, seal never holds if it seals at all. Bags are thin. NEVER BUY! If I could give zero stars I would.

I own several Deni products. This is the most dissapointing. It doesn't vacuum all the air out. I even returned it for a replacement & I expierenced the same problem. This is going into the trash & I'm getting another FoodSaver.

Size is nice, small and easy for my hands to operate.
Ease of use- directions were not very clear but, not rocket science to figure out.
The sealer wire works pretty well but could be a little hotter.
Vacuum suction does not work at all. I paid 20.00 dollars + tax and shipping. Just remember that you get what you pay for. Dont skimp on price if you want your food to last.

I have had this Deni Sealer for over 15 years. I've NEVER had a problem with it! True, it's the lower end of sealers, but it works well. You just have to get used to using it, selecting the correct heat, positioning the bags for sealing. Sometimes, it doesn't vacuum, but the bag just needs to be repositioned. Sometimes, the seal function cuts off the top, but there's always been a good seal. I use it very often, cook big batches and have a freezer full of goodies to grab and go! I've re-sealed product packages such as bags of quinoa, large bags of nuts and candies to freeze for later. I've used it to package batches of pesto and even pasta sauce! Just be careful when sealing fairly liquid foods to not let it be sucked into the vacuum tube. Yes, the more expensive ones might not need as much care in positioning, but for the money this one can't be beat. I will certainly buy another when/if this one EVER dies!

I have owned this type of vacum sealer for several years. I use it every day with great success. I have tried the heavier duty ones and have had no luck making the thicker bags work. I use my Deni for making frozen dinners which I can take from the freezer to the microwave. For storing rice and dried beans it is perfect. This will be my second one in six years. It took me a couple of trys to get the vacuum and sealing down pat, but I now use it to reseal packs of potatoe chips, bags of frozen vegetables, and freezing meat. For me, this product will always be part of my kitchen.

I have had this sealer for over 5 years, and I love it I was looking through the freezer last month and found a t-bone that I had vacumed sealed in 09 and it still had no freezer burn.( and it tasted great. The only thing that I have had a problem with is boiling in these bags.

My dad is a hunter of all sorts and he needed something to put in his camper to keep the meat until he gets home. My mom dosent like to mess with the meat and dosent want it in the freezer with other foods. this way it is sealed and they both can have what they want.

Red Feather : Better than the handheld sealer I had prior to this one

I purchased the Deni 1331 vacuum sealer despite all the negative reviews seen here about it. Any new thing takes some getting used to, & therefore "practice makes perfect" I have no problems using this and therefore strongly recommend this as a beginner vacuum sealing tool. Once you gain knowledge/experience w/this model, then you may or may not choose to upgrade to a more complex model. Hope you find this helpful. Until then, happy sealing. :-)
