I dont have an address for customer service, how can I reach them?

It is not clear from the instructions whether the sturdy brown tape covering the heating element is to be removed. Is it?

Answer: Please do not remove the brown tape that the function is heat insulation.

It seals when i push the seal botton but, it wont sean when I push the vaccum/seal button and it continuously vacuumes out the air... What am I doing

tonymcc : One of the Best Out There

I've used several vacuum machines and this is one of the best. I don't think I've ever seen one that was also 12 volt, but you can use this one in your car, boat, or RV without an inverter. It has a little more vacuum pressure than others. It also has an attachment hose that works with some of my containers and reusable vacuum bags. This uses textured bags and rolls. Smooth bags are only for the chamber vacs. The manual isn't in the best English, but it's understandable and the machine is easy to use.

If you need a simple vacuum sealer, this one can probably do the job. Make sure to read the instructions -- they can be a little rough and kind of unclear because the photos don't necessarily match reality -- but they get you going in the right direction. The device itself lightweight and isn't going to win any beauty contests, but it does the jobs: sealing or vacuuming out the air and sealing. (If you need to seal on the go, it includes a cigarette-lighter plug for that outlet in your car)

The brown tape on my unit was not shown in some of the photos, so I didn't know if it was a shipping/packing material or a critical part of the device. (Nobody wants to plug in a new device and burn or melt/fuse something to the heating element.) Fortunately, the response on the Amazon Q&A from the seller was quick and let me know that this tape should be left alone. Note in the photo that it was not "stuck" as well as it could have been, which led to my question.

Definitely don't toss the little white cardboard spacer that they include to keep the foam ring from compressing during storage (they also include a spare ring in the package, which is nice). This ring is a critical part in maintaining the suction and having it compressed or deformed is bad.

So, get a vacuum sealer bag (or roll and seal both ends to make your own), put some food into it and correctly place the open end of the bag into the unit. Make sure to lock both sides of the unit before pressing the button that will suck out the air and heat-seal the bag. The only problems I had were when I was testing and failed to make sure the side latches "clicked" in place to hold the heating elements in the proper place. I've sealed steaks for sous vide and some bags of nuts without problems. I sealed a couple of bags of colored water first to make sure the seal was good (no vacuuming on those) and that test worked: no dripping from the sealed bags.

There may be better ones out there, but for something simple to get the job done, this device fits the bill. Note that I am not sealing foods all the time: the primary use case will be periodically packaging foods for sous vide.
