Product Description
Kershaw’s Clearwater 9-inch fillet is perfect for filleting larger fish with ease. The blade is made of Japanese 420J2 stainless steel with the perfect degree of flex to make detailed jobs simple. This “softer” steel enables the blade to bend without breaking so it moves easily through the body of the fish, rendering the ideal fillet. It is also highly corrosion resistant for work in wet environments, without rust or buildup. The handle, made of co-polymer material, is durable, contoured for comfort and textured for tough grip that’s soft-yet-firm, making filleting even a large catch less fatiguing. Its neon green highlights make the handle easy to spot in a marine environment, while adding stylish contrast to the basic black handle. The 9-inch fillet’s handle design, with its central contour and hand protectors at both ends, fits the hand and locks in for extra-comfortable grip. The Kershaw 9-inch Clearwater Fillet locks into its own ABS sheath for secure storage or easy belt carry.

Product reviews of Kershaw Clearwater 9-In Fillet Knife (1259X) Fixed 420J2 High-Performance Stainless Steel Blade with Satin Finish, Black Textured Co-Polymer Handle with Neon-Green Detail and Included Sheath; 3.8 OZ
Justin Mathew : This knife is great for the price
This knife is great for the price. It comes sharp but after i ran it through my AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener, it felt like it cut cut bread so thin, you could only see one side. If you want a good quality filet knife with a sheath, and still have money in your pocket, buy this!
Randy Liserio : Kershaw is tops!!!
Awesome knife! Super sharp. Great quality. Super price. Kershaw always delivers in quality. I bought this to trim briskets and it works wonderfully. I highly recommend.
Heidi Hoyt-Berg : Love me some Kershaw blades!
Gave as a gift but hubby loved it and I was impressed with the quality of the blade we will see how it holds up against the bubba blade this next salmon season the test is on! But my $ is one the Kershaw! ???? lol! !
Brad J Siefert : Not made in the USA as description claimed.
I am disappointed in this item as I purchased it over other brands because the description said it was made in the USA. When I recieved the item today, it says on the box it was made in China.
Jared D. : Made in China.....disappointed.
Description say made in the USA. It is actually made in China. I like Kershaw knives and wanted to buy a good fillet knive.
Steven Engelson : Beware of Warranty
I purchased the knife less than a year ago and I started to have warranty issues. The knife has a limited lifetime warranty but is worth less than the paper it is written on. Firstly, they will not accept a photo of the problem, the knife has to be sent back to them and they want me to pay for shipping so that they can evaluate the problem. Which means that I would be out another 6 or 7 dollars with no guarantee they would replace the knife (cost of knife about 15.00). Then it is unclear whether I would have to pay return shipping. What good is a warranty when the cost of shipping is more than the knife.
Lisa WH : INCREDIBLE PRODUCT, High Quality, & Fast Shipping!
I am a HUGE Kershaw fan. I have 4 Kershaw pocket knives and I prefer them to the Buck, Gerber, and CKRT pocket knives that I own. Currently this is my highest quality/best Filet Knife that I own. When shopping I was considering getting a Bubba Blade or Gerber brand filet knife and I am glad I didn't because they were 2-4 times more expensive. I have filayed everything from crappie, to bass, to catfish with this knife and it is super sharp and the rubber grip makes it easy to use. 5 STARS, Highly Recommend this product!!!!
Nathan : I use it to skin large, fresh sides of ...
I use it to skin large, fresh sides of salmon for filet; few times a month, nothing of frequent repetition.
It's not razor sharp, but quite sharp enough for the task.
Fitment into the sheath is a bit clumsy, but it's on my kitchen knife bar, so not a concern for me.
TB : easy to sharpen
You can't beat these mofo's
Sharp outta the box, easy to sharpen, med edge. =perfect compromise.
Try one
The plastic sheath fits dead on.
Momma D : Nice knife but…
The knife is fine but the sheath is cheap plastic and the knife rattles inside it.
James B Andersen II : Total junk!
This knife is terrible!!! Anyone that gives this knife a good review has never used a decent filet knife. Comes dull from the factory. I put a nice edge on it prior to using it for the first time (sharp enough to shave the hair in my arm). By the third rock cid it was too dull to cut through fish skin. I had to sharpen it over and over again to filet 30 fish. When I got home I put another good edge on it and gave it another try a week later (slow learner) and by the third fish it would not cut. I got frustrated and threw it out into the ocean. When I got home I did what I should have done in the first place and spent $65 on a 10” Gerber.
Taylor Weisel : sharp sharp sharp
love it. sharpest knife I have ever seen. I have owned several Kershaw. They are all as sharp as the day they were new.
Kaligirl : As advertised
Great brand at a great price. Very sharp and comfortable to use. Just did this batch of trout yesterday and used it for the first time. Better than allot of more expensive knives.
Billy Pharris : Fillet knife
Does just what it’s suppose too do
Patrick Keegan : Sharp
This knife is wicked sharp. Very very sharp. So sharp that while cleaning, it I sliced a hole through my index finger- it’s still healing months later! Great knife for scaling a big fish over 20 inches, it feels unwieldy otherwise.
Amazon Customer : Nice knife
I used this for making beef jerky, and it worked great. I was able to make thin strips so it worked out great.
Jared D. : Made in China.....disappointed.
Description say made in the USA. It is actually made in China. I like Kershaw knives and wanted to buy a good fillet knive.
Molly Kordick : It could be sharper and cheaper...
For the money I would expect more from Kershaw!
Shannon : Holds an edge
Used it to butcher deer and really like it, especially for de-boning and back straps. If it works for what I used it for then I guess it will work for fish. Whole deer and no need to resharpen.
Melany : Item as described, fast ship!
Son-in-law loved this gift. Fast ship.
Kevin C : Poor blade quality
nice look and feel, i guess... but not sharp and won't take a good enough edge for my needs. I would not recomend this to any other Chef of person looking for a sharp enough knife to filet a fish. look elsewhere.
Sam C. : Good quality
Bought because I keep forgetting my knife on the boat or in the tackle box depending what I’m fishing for so I got a few to put everywhere
jschm4_60 : It's OK, but...
I bought this to replace or augment my Rapala knife, which seems to loose an edge after a couple fish. The first use was amazing - cut through bones and skin with very little effort. Nice blade shape which allows for good maneuverability around rib cages. However, after the second use / batch of fish with this knife, I found that I needed to touch up the edge just as I did with the Rapala. I'll be looking for a shorter blade next, but I think I will avoid a Kershaw. I do like the handle / grip. It is much more comfortable than the wooden one on the Rapala and will not slip easily even when covered with fish slime.
Mickey Mouse : good for what you pay
Good knife but the handle isn't very comfortable and the sheath is just plain horribly uncomfortable, it's secure and isn't gonna get cut through but the edges are sharp, I got it because it was cheap and I needed a fillet knife and have had very good experience with other kershaw knives, if I got another cheap fillet knife I'd probably go with a morakniv mora fillet knife.

CheeseMouse : Razor sharp, good grip
This is a well-balanced, well-made filet knife. Like most, it's super lightweight, holds a very sharp edge and just glides through Salmon flesh. The handle is a tough and very grippy rubber. It comes with a stiff plastic sheath that protects the edge and point very well. I love this knife especially for the price!
TrixieMonoxcide : Better than expected
Great price, used it to carve Thanksiving Turkey. It made clean cuts with ease thin and small slices. Handled well washing in the dishwasher. A little large for the kitchen drawer. I imagine it would work amazingly on actual fish.
REMI556 : Rusted quick
After first use it became rusty.
Barnald Obamump : Take it from me
Very long. Blade become dull almost instantly and needed sharpening upon arrival. Spend the money for a better knife, I should’ve.
Gale E. : Knife is nice with sheath
Knife is nice with sheath. Larger than I expected. I would probably choose a smaller size, but, that is the only con I can think of. But my fault for not thinking.
Richard Williamson : Great value and quality blade
Was just going to use this for cut bait but was to nice just to use it for that.
Rob : Blade will not stay sharp.
A pretty good knife. It feels good in the hand and has a flexible blade but it won’t stay sharp at all. I filet a fish and have to sharpen it again. I sharpen after every fish.
D'Lacey : Nice blade/handle. Easy to sharpen
Good solid blade. Nice comfortable handle. Not as flexible as I’d like but it still works quite nicely! Cheap plastic sheathe but it does it’s job.
Frederick M. : Sharp and Flexible
I use this knife for slicing chicken breast into thin slices. I semi freeze the chicken and it makes slicing a breeze. Be careful with this knife, it is super sharp.
john wrubel : Exactly as described
Not great for saltwater use. Rusted in less than 12 hours.
Bob W : The Kershaw 9-Inch Fillet Knife with sheath is a good value.
The Kershaw Fillet Knife with sheath is a good value -- quality, performance and cost. The 9-inch blade is very useful for larger fillets, although for small fillets it requires some care during use. The knife "clicks" into the sheath and stays in-place, even when carried in luggage. The knife maintained its edge and was flexible, steady in the handle with a non-slip grip..
Momma D : Nice knife but…
The knife is fine but the sheath is cheap plastic and the knife rattles inside it.
DaCajun : Quality product and shipped quickly
It arrived sharp and it resharpens easily
alicia1018 : Great

Theresa P. : My son is happy
My 30 yr old son said "it's the sharpest knife I have ever felt".
Patrick Keegan : Sharp

Michael S. Deck : Sharpe and practicality
Very readonable
REMI556 : Rusted quick
After first use it became rusty.
GOBI S. : Awesome knife.
Really good filleting knife. Really sharp and good grip.
Amazon Customer : The knife is perfect for birthday gift for a loved one that enjoys finishing
The knife comes sharp and ready for use anytime. It came perfect with a hard case for protection purposes. I now use this knife to fillet any fish bought from the market and it sure does the work much faster and cleaner than the ordinary knives.
