Answer: No. I just use fruit that is on sale/in-season and chop it up, cook in a pot with a 1/4 of water, add lemon juice and sugar to taste. Then blend. Add extra sugar if needed. Pour it on the sheets and let them dehydrate. Hope this helps!

What is the diameter of the whole in the center of the sheet?

Answer: The center hole is 2 inches in diameter. The entire tray is 12 inches.

Has anyone used the fruit roll up trays to make chips from pureed potatoes? How did they turn out?

Answer: We used it to dehydrate potatoes. We mashed potatoes using only the water we boiled the potatoes in, then spread thinly on the sheets. After dried, grind them in a blender and run through a sieve. You can get about a quart of product per 10 pounds of potatoes. A family serving is only about 1/3 of a cup compared to 1 1/3 of flakes from a box.

Answer: Potatoes can absolutely be eaten raw. There are no side effects- it's all about personal taste. But for the sake of consistency, yes, parboil them at least. We made our own "Pringles" style chips. MUCH better and MUCH healthier. ;)

Answer: Potatoes need to be cooked. They should not be eaten raw. Even when dehydrated the potatoes are still considered raw. If you cook/ steam the potatoes first and then blend them till smooth with water or vegetable broth or add nuts and blend well (nuts are for added fat and creaminess) or something like that (not milk or anything that would sour/spoil) then that mixture could be spread out for drying. Season with herbs for taste before drying.

Answer: I don't know how many cups, I pour a very thin layer, then spread it out with a spatula. That way it dehydrates faster, and if you leave it in an hour or two longer you can make fruit chips.

Answer: It's plastic so pretty hard, but they do bend some of you twist them I'd go with more hard than flexible though.

I see that people suggest putting a bit of cooking spray...can you taste the oil after it is done?

Answer: I dont use cooking spray with mine! I don't see where you would have to! You just have to make sure it is done and pull it off when it is still warm!

Answer: Not really, tho it may occur if you used a flavored (ie butter) oil or even olive oil. Reg unflavored spray is best. Definitely needed for drying fruit such as strawberries, or other sweet/sticky items.

Answer: Nick yes you can use them however I would also use parcment paper as chili will stain them. You can alsu just use parent paper cutting a round (instructions available online) without the trays as I do when working with salsas and frit purees for the various powders I make.

Answer: I utilize these "at times" when I am drying such things as various fruit purees, (nectarine, plum, apple, etc.) and yes it does add more time to the process, however not that much. A much more economical way with easier clean up is to just make your own rounds from parchment paper, (see the video on 4 folds to make parchment rounds available on Utube).

Answer: If you put frozen fruit on a mesh tray before it is thawed, it will be so drippy that your dehydrator will be full of juice. I would suggest that you only put food in a dehydrator that is solid enough to not drip. Check your dehydrator instructions.

However, I suggest spraying the trays with cooking spray, cause I found fresh strawberries stuck to the trays due to their high sugar content. I have done frozen veggies & they turned out great. Answer: I have never made cookies with the dehydrator. This machine takes all the moisture out of the items you place in it... Therefore I do not think you would want to do sugar cookies. The plastic sheets are great for making fruit roll ups.

Can you reuse these Roll Sheets, how many time can you use these Roll Sheets before you have to buy new sheets.

Answer: The roll sheets are a high grade, BPA-free rather heavy (yet slightly flexible) plastic. They can be reused as many times as you wish, provided you keep them in good shape with regular washing. I would recommend, from experience, hand washing the sheets and making sure there is no residue so that your food products do not stick.

These are so fun and easy to use! They sit right on top of the dehydrator baskets and you can make fruit leather! I used 1.5 cups of premade organic applesauce and blended it with a half of a peach (steamed to make soft) and 3 strawberries then put in my well greased ring. I dehydrated it for about 6-7 hours until it was still tacky but didn’t leave an indent when touched. I let it cool for about an hour then placed on wax paper and rolled up then cut into 1 inch pieces to make healthy fruit by the foot! Both of my kids ages 5 years and 1.5 years love them! Great snack! Oh and do not put in the dishwasher! Hand wash those rings!

I made strawberry/apple fruit leather and it came out great. The manual suggested filling the trays with 1.5 cups; I will add 1.75 cups next time as the separation due to drying resulted in some splits in the leather. Fruit leather lifted and rolled easily. Super easy to clean - I ordered two more. Kids literally consumed all from two trays in 24 hours.

I was thrilled to find these sheets that fit in my old Magic Chef dehydrator. I had tried some from a friend's dehydrator that did not fit; they were too large. I made plum fruit leathers and they turned out wonderfully with these sheets. They have an edge on them so your liquid is not going to run off when you pour the pulp on the sheets. First of all, these are not screens, they are a solid sheet of plastic. There are no holes in them. If I am drying, say, tomatoes for tomato powder, peppers for pepper powder, onion or garlic powder, cheese powder or other seasonings, I use these. I also found some good recipes on the internet for corn chips, cheese crackers and other things that must be spread onto dehydrator trays with no holes. They work great! They are very easy to remove and take over to the sink to wash. I carefully scrape the powdery contents into a bowl, then rinse off the trays. I have seen that some reviewers use parchment or another covering. I have never done that because these are really non stick. UPDATE: I just made some apple crisps on this tray and some on the other trays. They turned out just as crispy on both trays. The benefit of using this screen is that I could place the thin slices of apples on the tray first, then sprinkle the cinnamon mixture on them (with nothing falling through the holes) instead of trying to toss the apples in a bowl and get them evenly coated.

I dehydrate blueberries and pineapple chunks. Before putting one of these on the solid floor part of the dehydrator, cleanup from the juices was tedious because you can't put that part of the dehydrator in the sink. Now, after the fruit is done, I simply lift this plate from the floor of the dehydrator and wash it by hand in the sink. Wonderful!

I love these trays! For a while now, I have been obsessed with making fruit leather, these trays make it so easy to do so! YOU NEED TO USE SOME TYPE OF NONSTICK SOLUTION ON THEM BEFORE YOU PUT ANYTHING ON IT!!! I made the mistake of not doing this and it was stuck to the bottom of the tray, although it only took a few minutes of soaking in warm water for the fruit to come right off.

I was a little skeptical at first that these would work, but they are as easy as they claim to be. You just need to blend up fruit and smear it on to these sheets and a few hours later, you have fruit leather

These worked great just as advertised. A little trick is that about 4 hours into drying process... flip the leather over and they will even out the drying process on BOTH sides. At 4 hours they will be solid enough to do this.

My dehydrator did not come with dehydrator sheets. Could not find the same brand, so I got these. The center hole is smaller, but was easily modified to fit with utility scissors. So now they fit and work fine. I just have to be careful and not spread the mixture too close to the center as now there isn't as much lip, but at least they work.
