Answer: You know I am not sure but it looks to be about 12-14 inches. Big enough for a 3-4 lb. trout...LOL

What is the overall length from end to end?

Answer: It is 19 1/2" from end to end. The oval is 9 3/4" wide and 14" long, and the spaces in the netting are 1" square. The net itself is 14" deep.

can this be used in saltwater or will it corrode?

Answer: It says it is aluminum, so it should be OK. However, I'm not sure about the screws. Also, it is a very small net which would be too small for most saltwater fish, I would guess.

Answer: Yes it can tubing is aluminum won't rust.

Hooks and lures don't get too tangled, as they do with some dense nets. A bit small - if you catch a lunker, tail might stick out. Super light - I had to modify the handle so the elastic was long enough that I could attach to back of my vest and still have enough reach to net a trout.

Tim : Nylon netting but the price was right

I was initially a bit surprised that the net material was nylon. I don't remember the listing saying anything about the material used on the netting. I guess it will work however. Not sure what I was expecting and I hope the Nylon will hold up. I may have to write a follow up review after I have used this a few times. The price was right.

I have several large (12-24 inch) fish in a 75 gallon aquarium. Traditional pet nets are simply too small. This worked well and didn't hurt the fish or get caught too bad in fins.

This is a good basic and inexpensive net for fishing. Let me clear about one thing... This is a cheap net and it looks and feels like a cheap net. Aluminum frame, plastic handle, nylon netting bag. It is fine for its intended purpose - scooping some type of aquatic critter out of the water ontto a boat, canoe, dock or shoreline. It does that job without fanfare. Remember that it is "Southbend" and not "Orris" or "LL Bean". This will never be a fashion accessory or a family heirloom. It will however let you scoop your fish into the boat, scoop the turtle out of the pond, and so forth. It does so without frills and at a great price.

This net will do the job for panfish and not much else. The net is narrow; seems like it was designed for small trout or bass up to 8-9 inches or so and blue gills, crappies, etc. I wish I had spent a few more dollars for a nicer net, but this will get the job done on smaller fish-- although smaller fish can usually be landed easily without a net.

This trout net is the perfect size for scooping those trout up and into my kayak. Space is limted and it is small enough to stow in a small area by my side. It serves it's purpose by getting under that fish and keeping it from jerking away.

Exactly what was expected....Nothing extraordinary. Serviceable tote from a belt loop made from aluminum tubing wherein solid aluminum would have been worth the extra cost....

Pretty small, probably good for kayak fishing small trout. The lake close to me we're not allowed to touch the water so I'll be adding broom handle/ walking stick to this somehow.
