Answer: That customer bought the controller only, but actually the max. temp is determined by heat element and your grill/smoker cooking chamber size, our controller with heat element kit has no problem to hit 500F+ for a 30 inch vertical smoker.

Answer: Yes it fits and it works better than the original. I had to drill a couple of new holes because it didn't line up, perfectly, but only took a few minutes. Get the Square Trade Warranty for a few bucks and you're covered for 4 years. It's like paying $9 for the warranty which essentially gives you a new smoker for the cost of the element.

The heating element worked like a charm. However, I am still concern about the temp controller. When I turned the temp control knob to medium, the temperature tend to go up to 400 degrees and remain high. I am still trying to figure out how to regulate the hit to the temp of my liking. I used this to build a wine barrel smoker. This unit maintains 285deg (highest I’ve tried) no problem. 3 cooks and no issues. One caveat I use an Auber instruments controller to maintain temperature so I have no idea if knob on element controller is accurate. It stays set to max.

The heating element in my Smoke Hollow electric smoker went out recently and I bought this as a replacement. Amazon does sell another brand's replacement, but when I checked the dimensions I realized it was too big. This unit is the correct size. It comes with new screws and nuts for attaching it to the smoker wall. I re-used by old one and it only took about 10 minutes to change out the heating coil. I just used the smoker last night and everything worked perfectly.
