Just finished watching live stream of the Kissimmee chain event. Congrats to Jordan Lee. Congrats to all the pros for making it exciting. I like the way they weigh and release the fish. Think I'm going to keep on watching this. I find it way more exciting than BASS or FLW.
Most entertaining way to watch fishing I’ve ever seen. Loved it.
Jordan Lee is unreal. Gonna break some records.

That kid is unreal ????
Watched some every day, couldn't invest the time to watch the whole thing. I've loved the MLF format ever since I saw the first one. The stuff at the end of Saturday was exactly why I watch it. Feel bad for Ike (yes, I'm a fan) but I'm sure he'll be fine (LOL). Every day was awesome! The way it worked out for me I got to watch the final hour or two each day. Can't wait until the next!
Ya mlf rules ever since I first saw it that’s the way me and my friends compete I love the penalties 2 minutes is a killer when you’re buddies are pulling fish from where you just got penalized their are even walleye tournaments switching to that format

He's gonna set some records for sure. He also just won the the Select Cup in Ardmore on Lake Arbuckle. I was his marshal on day 1 at Lake Oahe. He's a modest kid with a passion for fishing. Very enjoyable day.
J. Lee is on point right now. I wonder if that will bode well for him going in to the Classic in a few weeks...
Guess I'm not to particular....enjoy BASS, FLW and MLF. They are all unique and sure beat the other !#@$ on TV.
The only thing I dislike is the tourney so much falls during the work week. All anglers said they want to grow the sport and that. I don’t get it when 2/3 of it fall during the week. Most people can’t watch all week. Reason the nfl and college football are so big is its 1-2 days and games are when people aren’t at work till you get to bowl seasons.

Are you saying you just want it to be two days instead of 6? You can't really compare bass fishing to any other sport except maybe golf, when it comes to TV coverage.
Tourneys need to be a couple days long in order to prove who is the best and not just lucky. They need to be held during the day because of safety and because it doesn't make for good TV. I'm not sure how else they should do it better.
I used the follow BASS tournaments religiously years ago, so when I started getting fishing fever again I started watching BASS and FLW tour stuff on youtube. One thing that struck me immediately was how rough they were on the fish. Flipping them onto the floor of the boat. Grabbing them by the body and clutching them to their chests. Shaking them for the camera. Flippantly tossing them back when they cull, and then when they get to the weigh in taking them out and shaking them around again. Whatever you think of the MLF and their format, they are much more respectful of the fish. I like that a lot.

That falls on each individual angler. If they knew they were going to cull, some had no respect for the fish. I have seen pro anglers literally rip the lips off a bass rather than take a minute to carefully unhook them. I have seen anglers not even attempt to remove a deep hooked small bass, it was faster to just cut the line and grab a different rod. Some anglers treated the five they brought in with care to avoid a penalty, but not any of the other fish they caught.
These same anglers who had been Elites now are part of BPT.
Without incentive to handle the fish with care, it's not gonna happen if it eats up time. That's on the tournament organization.
@Hawkeye21 not saying they should shorten it up. But they talk about growing the sport with youth and such. I just wonder how effective they are going to be when most of there fishing is happening when kids are in school. That’s the future of the sport so I dunno just kinda something floating around in my mind
I'm gonna guess that kids not into the sport aren't going to get into an 8 hour tournament feed. They're more likely to get into it watching the edited TV product.

When are they suppose to be showing it? It's like an 8 hour show and it's live so it has to be on during the day. If people want to watch it at better times then they can watch the replay. I don't see how it can work your way unless it's completely tape delayed like the MLF tourneys are. When it's done that way we see fishing that was done the year prior.
During the summer kids will have plenty of time to watch these tourneys since they'll be on break.

While I agree with you that what gets rewarded gets done, I don't believe you should let each individual angler off the hook for their actions.
As an extreme example, Mike Iaconelli has been shown literally throwing a small bass as far as he could in a fit of anger. I don't believe any other angler has ever been seen doing something like that. On the opposite end of the spectrum, Aaron Martens seems to take a bit extra time to take care of each fish that he lands. Both of these anglers were under the same rules in the Elite series, but they made personal choices on how to handle the creatures they caught.
C.S. Lewis is quoted as saying "Integrity is doing the right thing even when no one is watching". That falls on each of us, on each angler, no matter the rules in place.

I like your quote from Lewis... pertains to sooooo many things in life.
Thank you
So many of us only see this when we get older....personally I wish I had a different attitude when I was a young buck!!

I commented last year how Bobby Lane did the same thing and how it was a very poor look. I’ve never seen Ike do it, doesn’t mean he didn’t, no matter what and who it is throwing a fish in anger, snapping poles (Bobby Lane) in anger is a very bad look and should be taken care of by way of fines.
Speaking of fines I read that because of some choice words by some last week BPT will be handing out fines for swearing in future events starting today. Also the top 25 MUST attend the activities at the end of the event.

So they are listening to our feedback ????

Forever known as "The Ike Rule."

I had forgotten about that, you are right.
I understand having a temper, I have an Irish one with some German intensity added in for good measure. However, I realized years ago that you always look like jerk when you blow your lid, you look childish when you then break things and you look like a coward when you take it out on a defenseless animal.
Just a few thoughts about some of the BPT coverage i have seen. Kinda surprised they was not any in depth coverage on MLF site about day 1 on Conroe, just a minute long highlight package, you would think.they would do a 20 to 30 minute post game type show analyzing that days action and previewing the next day. Sure most people cant spend 8 hours on a Tuesday watching a live event but most fans would love to catch up by wAtching a 30 minute recap in the evening.
I also find the overall format of MLF somewhat confusing. Between the new tour, the selects, summit cup and world championship it sometimes seems like a big hodgepodge of events that are not really connected to one another at all (in reality I guess they are not). To me in order for MLF to get this right they need to clean this up. It's like a football team playing four weeks of their schedule then stopping to play exhibition games that don't really count in a way. Plus one of the exhibitions will be called a world championship while the regular season also produces a champion. mLF needs to create a cohesive product that crowns one true champion each calender year or season.
Just like anything all it takes is for a person to do some research. We have information at our fingertips now. If you don’t understand something just look it up.
The MLF Series is completely different and is filmed the year before it’s on TV. The BPT is live and a different format.

This should help: https://majorleaguefishing.com/about/cup-rules/
There are buttons for Cup, Select, and Championship at the top of the page.
