How long was your longest smallmouth? Mine's 21.5 inches, pretty big for Western Maine.
20"
Mine is 21 inches. Look at the beauty under my name.
22.5 inches.
20", although I had one in my hand that would have went 22 easily, slipped out of my hand and broke my line. I nearly cried. :'(
20.5......on my 6'.6" light action spinner rod on 6lb test, what a blast!
Don't know but over 22 I am sure
19.5 a dink by comparison to what has been posted so far, here she is laying against my boat oar. She was released btw
My two longest went 22.5". No photo of the one I caught in 2002, but here's the one from the spring of 2008. Caught on a soft jerkbait and 6 lb. line. Released right after a few photos. I got a replica mount.
Wow huskybass, what a toad! That's a beautiful fish right there.
Longest smallmouth I caught was 21 3/4". Fun part was, I caught a 21 1/4" on the same day.
21" river smallie. ;D

Huskybass,
Once again, that's a beauty! I know you posted a picture of
your replica, but maybe you could post it again on this thread.
I'm sure everyone would enjoy another peek!

thanks Paul, I caught her out of the local river, it is a narrow river only about 30 yards wide where I caught her.
what river was that retiredbosn?
The Greenbrier, I also fish the New some but not a lot. Last time I floated the river my back went out about half way down (that was an excurciating few hours waiting to get to the pullout), so now I spend most of my time on the lakes. Moomaw, Claytor, SML et.
Beautiful mount Husky!
Yes, that is a beautiful replica. The paint makes it -you need an artist for that. Very nice! And that fish might still be alive. Now that's stisfaction in my book.

BIG is relative. I know I don't need to tell you to be pleased with that fish.
Just a touch over 23", A great lakes monster for sure.
Hey guys :-)
Actually, I've never been much of a fish "measurer". Typically an accurate weighing and quick release is good enough for me.
However, my PB of 8.5 lbs was measured by the young guy that C/R'd her the week before, and she was 24.5 inches {with a 22" girth}
Based on her weight, length and girth, I think I have caught 4 or 5 Smallies of 24" or more. This one went 7.5 lbs, but had a more normal / long shape to her....
I caught one last year that was completely (freshly) spawned out, and went 8.2 lbs, which had to have been 25" to 25.5" in length.
I'd like to catch that one again, but "pre-spawn" ;-)
Peace,
Fish
Chris,
That first fish looks like a hybrid -a spotted x SM, or LM x SM.
Could it be?
Great fish and beautiful pics!
BTW, Where have you been? We miss you.

Hey guys....
Paul, yea', that's been discussed before about a lot of the Smallies from that lake.
But keep this in mind;
Their is a big long list of things that biologists use to test for hybridization of fish species, and coloration is one of the very last things on that list... or should I say, color is one of the least important factors. Reason is, coloration is SOOO variable depending on food sources, water clarity, individual fishes mood, health, etc, etc....
While with many anglers, color is the very first factor taken into consideration.
That said, I'd give this fish (and others which are even greener than this one) less than a 10% chance of being a hybrid.
I have a close buddy who is a fisheries biologist, who told me last year, that they were going to be genetically testing some of these fish, but I don't know what ever came of that. Talked to him last week, but didn't think to ask....
Hey RW, you know me...... I get onto whatever kick I'm into at the moment, and I forget about everything but that one thing. That's the AADD thing in action. Oh well. This Winter it was the new truck, and then stereo stuff.....
But don't worry, I have flipped that switch off now, and fixing to forget about "every other thing on the planet" except trophy bass ! ;D 8-) : ;D
It's funny.... I actually had a guy tell me recently, that he admired how I can have such solid, single minded focus on whatever I choose to..... I laughed and told him, "Dude.... It's actually a psychological problem ! I can't think about 2 "different things" at the same time if I tried ! I guess for some things AADD is not all bad :-)
Great fishing to you guys,
I'll try not to start posting so much I'm driving everyone crazy :-)
Peace,
Fish
fish chris all i can say is wow!!!!!!
Beautiful fish and photos as always Chris. Congrats.
My personal best is a 20.5 in the picture below caught on Laurel River Lake in south-east Kentucky.
I seen 6 over 20 caught in the same day once by my fishing partner on the same lake, but I only mustered up one keeper that day. We didn't have a camera, wasn't expecting that kind of catch. But I got to see a good show that day, and got a reel good workout on the dip net.
Fish Chris,
Well, I'm glad you're back and speaking for everyone on this
Forum, we NEVER tire of your posts!
As for me, a combination of factors have kept me away from
the river this winter, so I have nothing to report. I am looking
forward to Kentucky Lake in a couple of weeks. We should have
a lot of nice pics posted shortly and maybe a few will be brown
fish!

It looks like that thing swallowed a baby. Incredibly fish chris. My longest is Two 22". Both on Jerkbaits.
I haven't measured them, I usually just weigh them but I would say around 20-21 inches.
