What are your top 5 heaviest fish in 2017-18 ?
27 lbs for smallmouth.
36 lbs for largemouth thanks to this December.
Mine was fairly light, only 17-1/2 lbs.
No clue but I would say I caught at least 5 4 lb smallmouth. Definitely got at least 5 3 pound smallmouth so somewhere between 15-20 lbs. I bet I have only caught 1 or 2 largemouth in the 3 lb class for 2017-2018. All this being said, the week between Christmas and new year is always the best fishing week of the year so there is still room for improvement

6 14 , 6 10 , 6 03 , 5 10 largemouth and a 5 6 smallmouth
6-2, 5-0 and three over 4 lbs. Numbers were excellent this year, lots of healthy fish in the 2 -3 lb class, but just the two over 5. Then again, we still have six weeks left...
Not re-visiting 2017 but . .
2018 Season Domestic Brown Bass ~
6-4, 6-3, 6-0, 5-14, & 5-14 = 30 lbs - 3 oz
2018 International Green Bass ~
11.30, 10.22, 10.14, 9.83, & 9.28 = 50 lbs 12.3 ounces
(All caught in a 5 day span)
That was fun.

I don't weight mine anymore, I measure them. In my first two years back at bass fishing I caught one bass over 20 inches. This year was the year to learn to use a jig...........I caught 9 over 20 inches!
Well, it ain't over yet, but I caught a 7.1 lb that you can see in my profile pic, a few in the 6's and a few in the 5's. It was the best year I've had in a long time in terms of big fish. I had been in an almost 2 year slump. Most of them came in the late summer/early fall transition.
I'm only looking at 20 to 25 lbs . Been in a big bass slump for two years now . I'm catching some long ones but skinny . The lake needs to be thinned out but the conservation dept is stubbornly keeping a slot limit that is not working . Its been in place since the 1970's .
8.25, 8.11, 7.93, 7.7, 7.5 = 39.49
Slow year ????
A couple of six pounders and a handful of 5 pounders. I still have not met my 2018 goal of landing one 7+ pounds, but I do have about 6 weeks left to fish.
My 12 year old son had a good year with four in the five pound range and a bunch of 3 and 4 pounders. But he's about to turn 13 in a week so his life is all about being moody. He'd rather sit and watch me fish than throw a line in the water. Kids these days.????
12.6, 14.9, 11.7, 16.1, 22.3
I feel for you guys, its been a really slow year for me too.
My actual numbers lie more in the 6lb range????

I guess somewhere around 22lbs of Largemouth; all caught on Lake Eries Western Basin
Did good with size early in the season, then it was more number than size for me this year. Didn't fish as much as I usually do due to schedule. Biggest was just under 8, 2 right a 6, and a few around 5. No studs this year. I did catch my 2 PB crappies on back to back casts though while bass fishing.
Smallmouth somewhere between 26 and more than 26
we did catch our biggest bag this year. 27lbs on 6 fish. All caught within 45 minutes in southern indiana
i feel like throwing all my tackle in the wood chipper
brb
I can't compete with the southern guys, but it was a good year for me. my largest 5 were all largemouth.
7 lb. 11 oz.
6 lb. 10 oz. (can't find a pic for proof)
6 lb. 6 oz.
6 lb. 4 oz.
5 lb 12 oz.
5 lb. 4 oz.
7lb 11oz
6lb 6oz
6lb 4oz
5lb 12oz
could not find a picture of the 6lb 10oz. so here is a 5lb 4oz. I caught this summer.
Was not a good year for smallmouth. did not catch any smallies over 3lb. this year.
I decided to add some pictures
Edited by Russ EIt's time to tell the truth. The only way I could catch 5 to get in to double digits would be in my dreams. I think I caught one about 3 pounds back early in the season. What is odd for me is the last fish I caught this year was a smallmouth about 1.5 pounds. This was a really lousy year for me.
8-5, 6-13, 6-10, 6-3 and 6-00. All northern strain large mouth. I had one decent smallie right at four pounds. Tough year. Three of my buddies each caught their personal best large mouths while fishing with me and that was the best.
Tournament fishing bags: (all largemouth)
#1: 22.89 (Conesus lake, team event)
#2: 21.50 (Silver lake, team event)
#3: 20.86 (Silver lake , solo event)
#4: 18.89 (Silver lake, solo event)
#5: 18.44 (Conesus lake, solo event)
Individual fish:
6-8 (smallmouth ,May 2018 Silver), 6-6 (largemouth, Oct. 2018 Silver), 6-4 (largemouth, Aug 2018 in a tournament Conesus), 6-2 (largemouth, May, 2018 Silver), and another 6-2 (largemouth, June 2018 Silver)
Only 2018, Just 1 over 6 the rest over 5.
Even my time is not end yet but I don't think I'll catch anything big. I'm a dink expert now, caught a catfish and 3 dinks today on crappie lures.
Top 5 for me :
8.6
8.1
7.3
6.11
6.3
Also had several between 5-6
All largemouth of course.
Would love to get me a trophy smallmouth someday.

I don’t know if TN counts as southern but you beat me by a mile!
I, also, don't weigh my fish unless one is over 24in. or I think it may top my PB. My top five for this past season;
22in. 21in. 21in. 20.5in. and 20.0in. That 20.5in. likely weighed more than the 22 as she had been feeding heavily prior to succumbing to my offering. I'd guess total weight around 29lb.
BTW, all these fish were caught in July or Aug and the two 21in. was actually the same fish caught three days apart.
It’s kind of sad most big tournaments around here take 20 lb sometimes more to win and I can’t hardly break that mark in a calendar year....... thanks @N Florida Mike........... ha!
3.71, 3.70, 3.55, 3.46, and 3.3. All largemouth, don’t judge me I live in Indiana.

It was probably my best year for quality fish.
I was talking more about the guys in Florida, Texas, and California. where the Florida strain fish live.
our bass are all northern strain.
It's been a great year for big fish for me, probably because I spent a lot of time on the lakes where they live ???? 4/5 are from the same lake. 33.81 for my biggest 5.

Those are quality fish. Especially for our sorry fisheries we have in Indiana. That's why if I am going to fish public water I travel to illinois or Kentucky.

I fished in Indiana once in a regional tournament. You have my condolences.

4 out of 5 of mine were from that same lake. I fished it hard this year.
In the boat: 6-1, 5-11, 5-5, 5-4, 5-2
From the bank: 4-11, 4-6, 4-5, 4-4, 3-10
Decided not to fish a tournament this year, but fished from the bank during our summer team tourney. Caught what would have been a 21 pound bag with a chatterbait in 2 hours. It would have been the 2nd heaviest bag of the entire tournament.
Couldn't manage a fish over 5 this year or last year, but I had a couple that were knocking on that door.
7.46, 6.87, 6.1, 5.8, and 5.68
all on public lakes in central Iowa
My Top Five are all Smallmouth (actually, this is the first year I went the whole year without even catching a single Largemouth)
7-2
6-3
6-3
6-0
5-12
Total of 31 lb. 4 oz.

Nice .
I fished 95% of the 2018 season in the same stretch of the Hudson River on the banks for Smallmouth Bass.
I caught close to 400 fish this season, around 350 of them were Smallmouth Bass.
My best catches were:
4.01
3.81
3.29
3.14
Here is the 4.01
Most of the SMB I caught were in the 1 pound range.
It was a dismal year for Largemouth Bass catches. I didn't target them much so my biggest LMB was under 3 pounds.
I was only able to get out on the kayak twice. I am hoping to be out more next season. My shoulder is almost 100% but my back is still bothering me.
I'm in my third year of not being able to break through the 6lb category. Still have time this year! But pickins are gettin slim.
My 5 biggest have me around 32lbs. All LMB.
Huge year for numbers, not so much for size: 5.25, 3.80, 3.75, 3.59, 3.58. All largemouth, but haunted by a lost smallie that would easily have made the list and been a species PB.

Wowza!
Not great: about 14lbs.
Just want to beat that next year!
Certainly over 45 #

5.25 Is a nice one! Where did that one come from?

A 30-acre hole in the middle of nowhere...
4.8, 4.6, 3.75, 3.3, 3. Lmb
I only fish from ponds since I don't have a boat or any lakes very close to me.
