On the lighter side of bass fishing here are a few sure things I've found after 45 years
1. About the time you think you have them figured out; they prove you don't.
2. The 2 best times bass bite; the day before you get there & the day after you leave
3. It is called fishing not catching
4. The exact moment you put your tournament entrance fee on the table 75% of your honey holes dry up.
5. Any time you bring a kid fishing they will prove every thing you know about bass fishing don't mean chit!
. . . . and another one.
After staking out that perfect structure and determining the perfect lure for the situation, your wife catches the biggest bass with a crappie tube.
It is also a sure thing that I would rather be fishin' than workin'!!!
If you take along sunblock and don't bother to put it on, SUNBURN!!! Got chewed out again for that last Sunday! Boy was my face red and not from embarassment!!
The first truly warm day on the lake will also be the windiest.
As soon as you turn your head to talk to a buddy or check on something in the boat, you take the attention of your bait. THAT is when you miss the biggest bite of all.
Don't know how many fish I've missed because of that.
Sure thing that when you have to leave,(ie:go to work) somebody catches the hog,or figures them out for the day.Time to call off.
Sure thing that there is always somebody better.
Sure thing that you can learn something from everyone you fish with even if it is very small.
Thats a good list for me would be everytime I buy a crankbait, I have to buy 2 because its a sure thing I will lose one :-/
no matter how many you catch, you still want to go again tomorrow

X2 No Doubt!
Right when you find out exactly where the best bite on the lake is they either stop biting or move to a different spot
I know one thing for sure about fishing.
#1. the fish are in the water.
That's all folks.
Weather reports suck
It's a sure thing when fishing with my brother he will be the one to catch them while I get nada, so we switch spots so I can feel better and catch one and I don't and he does in the spot I was just in!
Paul

It seems bass and women have something in common.
No matter how well you catch them in practice, come tournament day they don't bite nearly as well if at all.
x2 on the women thing!
Also, The day that you think you have all the tackle you need, you will realize that you need about 500-1000 dollars worth of stuff that you HAVE to have. ;D Oh the primate we know all to well strikes again.

Yup, had to chime in again. This always happens with my dad and I. I'll move to his spot that he gave up after he catches a couple. He moves to mine where I had caught none. Sure enough five minutes later dad's gotta fish on lol. Sucks, haha.
The bass will always be the most active and bursting on the surface when you're not able to cast anything. Like say, you're strolling along the shoreline with your girl, your family....
If you ever manage to find a rod somehow, they will sure be gone the minute you cast.
And Bass grow by ounces.... never had a bass that weighed 1lb 10oz and 1/2 oz :
Well for some of my friends they only grow by pounds, they either catch a 5-pounder, or it's a 6-pounder
Even on a perfect day of bass fishing, there will be something going wrong, which actually helps appreciating the beauty of bass fishing even more. :

Actually, if you buy one, you'll lose it, if you buy 2 you wont lose either

How true!!!!!!!!!!
When you go to put on you sunglasses on 8-), and instead of being on your hat their still in the truck :'(!
During early spring, a cold front always move in the day before you plan to fish. 60 to 65 degrees all week, 50 on Friday . Oh and windy on Saturday, 20 to 25 mph.
Give a man a fish and he'll eat for one night.
Teach a man to fish and he'll wear a funny hat.
When you have free time to fish, something will break in the house that requires all of your free time to fix! >
The one thing I know for sure is the bass are really biting while I sit here typing this on BassResource.
It's a sur ething if I plan a weekend of fishing the boss asks me to come in and work. >
When your week long fishing trip that you've been planning for a year finally gets here, the biggest cold front of the year comes with you.
When the conditions are rough and you are content with the couple of one and two pounders you are catching, thats when an old fisherman comes by you on the shore with a spincast outfit and a minnow under a bobber and starts pulling in five pounders. >
You will hook the largest bass of your life the day you leave your net in the garage. :-/
As soon as you get a backlash, a fish will run with your bait.
