I just went and bought my license for this year and our license increased $1.50 this year. I think now might be a good time to consider getting a lifetime fishing license. I don't even want to know what it's going to be in 10,15, 20 years when I have kids and they start fishing. But for me it is like buying gas, it just has to be done no matter how high it gets.
How much did it go up for you guys?
Usually $20 restricted,$28 all specie...will be jumping around $5-$10 this year.I like to get all specie just in case i go after salmon or trout. With that price increase i might be bringing dinner home once in awhile now.
They raised ours last year ! Hopefully not again this soon!!!
As Ever,

BTW Actually, for what that money goes for, we shouldn't gripe ...
26 dollars here and another fifteen if you want a second pole permit(i use em for ice fishing). it sucks and its worth griping about
I purchased the fresh and saltwater combined license in Virginia a number of years ago so I have no idea if the fee has increased.
Best investment I have made.
No longer have to worry about getting the license renewed or purchasing a new license.
I suggest getting a lifetime license if they are available in your state.

It's not worth griping about. You have the license for 1 whole year. Pretty cheap entertainment. If you go to the movies 3 times you pass $26 dollars. Or you can go fishing for a whole year for the same cost (Excluding the thousands of dollars you put into equipment ;D)
Well I gripe about the movie theater prices lol.5.75 to 7.50 is to high and 4 or 5 bucks for popcorn and 4 bucks for a coke is way to much.I could get two 2 liters for the price of one large cup of coke.Thats why I don't get anything at the movies and that why I go about once or twice a year.I wait till I see um on cinemax or starz or something.Anime Other must be rich or something.I think fishing license here in Georgia still 9 bucks. When I get a job truck driving I'm gonna look into the lifetime license.
$38.85 for the license $6.05 for the delta enhanment stamp so you can use the $38.85 license and new for this year a $12.10 second rod stamp that can be used on all inland waters. So I'm looking at $57.00
to fish in a state that has next to no game wardens and poching runs wild. O and did i mention that there shutting down the banks to fishing faster that you can shake a stick at them.. but just like death and taxses you gotta do it >

Don't forget the 3.50 convience fee if you don't buy it straight from DFG. No griping though, $57.00 for many many days out of the house.... priceless.
my restricted fish licence for 2007 was only $ 15.00.
not sure if its going up or not ? in 2008..
$36 for fishing license and trout stamp...they're killing us. >

$3 a month is killing you? :
Florida is $17 a year for fresh and $17 for salt or $32.50 for both. Lifetime is $301 for each. 65 and older are exempt.
I really don't have a dog in this fight because my license is free.
I would only complain if I lived in a state that had no return on the investment. I have fished many states in this country and all had great fishing that is provided by licensing fees.
I know that I pay a lot more for fuel for my boat, and truck this year. How much does it cost to transport 100,000 bass fry to a lake in a remote area of Texas to stock it? Shoot, I don't know but I bet someone would figure it out. Now, multiply that by all the lakes in the state. You get the picture.
Then you have the biologists, technicians and maintenance workers for the hatcheries, Game wardens to protect the resource. Look at the pay rates of the biologists and techs for your state. Their compensation is not bad but is not in proportion to their education levels with the private sector pay rates.
WHAT I SAY IS, GET ticked OFF ABOUT THE FACT THAT WE MUST DEPEND ON FOREIGN ENERGY SOURCES! That is one of our prime problems for all of our price increases in every factor of our lives!
$25.50 here in MD for a non-tidal and a trout stamp. Last year I paid $17.50 but the price hike was put in effect in July of last year. As far as I know, PA's didn't go up but I get my PA license as a Christmas gift.

Jeez - that's California for ya. How much for a pack of smokes these days, about the same as a license?
CT two years ago was $20, last year it was $20, and this year it was, once again, $20. I guess we're lucky? Truth is, I'd pay much more than that and be fine with it if they really needed the extra cash to manage the fisheries. I know I'll be getting my money's worth this year.

I'll be getting a lifetime license for Georgia this year. They are $500. That's not bad considering I buy a $60 dollar sportsman's license every year that covers everything fishing and hunting.
Quote$60 dollar sportsman's license
That is cheap.
QuoteQuote$60 dollar sportsman's licenseThat is cheap.
Sure is. So the lifetime license will pay itself off in a little over 8 years.
Georgia is a great place to be a sportsman. We have an indivdual say every year at DNR meetings. Giving us the power to accept or reject new regulations by a vote. We have the right to hunt and fish through our state's constitution and laws to protect us from antis. All this and the licenses are still cheep. I love this state.
VA's sportsman's license is $120 (a discount of $6 over buying the 7 licenses individually). I have no incentive to buy it as I never buy the archery or crossbow licenses.
I pay $40 for my VA fishing license ($18 freshwater, $18 trout, $4 National Forest). $41 for my TN license. $54 for my VA hunting license.
VA's went up $6/license last year, the first increase in around 12 years. Lifetime license is $255. If you fish stocked trout waters, you must still buy the trout license ($18 yearly or $255 lifetime). For hunting, you must still buy the muzzleloader/archery/crossbow every year as well as the Bear/Deer/Turkey stamp.
It's $760 for a lifetime fishing license here in WV. Sportsman's license is only $33.
$37 for license and Lake Erie combo stamp.
Far as I'm concerned, it's CHEAP!
Quote$37 for license and Lake Erie combo stamp.Far as I'm concerned, it's CHEAP!
Hey what's Lake Erie Combo Stamp?
I get a PA Fishing licience, and I get a trout stamp, so I can fish the Lehigh River and The Little Skuhckill, before Bass Season opens. It's catch and release til then, I throw em all backanyway!
MA fishing license is $28 and the sporting license (hunting & fishing combined) is a little bit more, maybe $45 or so.
Most states require fishing license fees to go into the fund that supports outdoor activities. Your launch ramps, water restoration projects, conservation activities etc. are supported by the purchase of licenses. Wouldn't it great if the entire govermnet ran this way?
Here in Michigan the prices according to michigan.gov/dnr:
Restricted resident= $15.00
All species upgrade= $13.00
Senior resident= $6.00
All species upgrade= $5.20
Military resident= $1.00
There was alot of talk about raising fishing fees, however they must have changed their minds.
Falcon
19.00 a year here in NY.
Covers 10/01/07 - 09/30/08
Not sure why the dates are like that.
Most of you guys have it fairly cheap or reasonable compared to WA State:
Freshwater: About $21
Saltwater: About $19
Some other dumb azz processing fees and taxes: about $6
It turns out to be just under $50 after all is said and done. I wouldn't mind but bass take a back seat in my state and they are on their own so my $$$ is spent on salmon and steelhead. There is zero money spent to help bass.
It is what it is. Gotta pay to play. :'(
