Been dreading this day .. think they r hung up for the season.
I need to build something like this for my garage.
Nice set up. Exactly what did you use to make this? I would like to attempt to replicate.
Thanks .. can’t take credit .. got from this link . I just changed the spacing.

I need to do this. Lol
I've got fishing poles leaning everywhere in the garage.
I went out in the kayak today. 44 degrees with 10mph winds. It was nice but probably my last time out???? for this year.
but I did catch one at least
Always a bum day to put fishing gear away for the year

Went out for like 2 hours today ... caught some leaves lol.
Pour a stiff Jack and Coke, light one up and do the Rod hangers, keep you busy in winter. I was born and raised in Fla, I can't do cold weather fishing, makes my joints ache.
Things ended a short while back here in Maine. While the season was coming to a close and I started going out less and less. I spent downtime researching baitmaking, making lists, and acquiring materials to make some.
I figured I can enjoy this during the blizzards, and when ice is out, actually (hopefully) catch a few on baits I've made. I've already made a couple and have plans for more.
Winters can be long and slow here, but I love 'em.
I am in the same boat, I removed all the line off my reels Sunday evening and backed all the drags off on my reels. Then I sat down and drank a couple beers and cried! haha. Now of course we are going to have temps near 60 today and tomorrow. Weather men suck!!!! lol

lol.. I hung mine up but that's it.. just in case. But my guess is line off reels next week
Looks like a fine time to start super tuning reels. I've cleaned and lubed mine for years and finally polished internals, added and changed bearings on one. Now they all must be done.
I hope to be never have to do that again, it's a bad feeling.
Winter projects are a great idea. It sure beats going completely insane.
Last year I made a pegboard and focused on storage and organization.
Tomorrow I'm going to look at a boat and trailer that will certainly fill up my free time and empty my bank account.
Oh....my. And I was feeling sorry for myself that my wife nixed my outing today as the doc took out my staples on my head and said not to wear a hat or get it wet for a couple days....
So will just go out in garage and see if I can see good enough to tie a hook on....it will be sketchy by I have nothing but time right now.
Sorry for you alls hard water....
Boat is winterized and I'm probably done for the season .

I’m hoping to for spring.. a boat.. just no idea what I want to go for.. main Lake I’ll fish is 20hp limit.. but than I go to other lakes they r un restricted for most part and will take me forever to get around.. I get the limit ,know one hauling ass all over the place .. but also sucks taking forever getting around. My buddies boat he bought used for 20k .. just seems like a lot of money for a bass boat that can barely move ... like 13 to 15mph. Nice boat I think 16ft but just has me scratching my head As to what to do

Buy a bigger boat that will take a kicker motor and use the kicker on Nockamixon.

I'm at the beginning stage and as you can tell have no idea what I'm doing with anything boat wise. Thanks for the advice.
Have a lot of research to do.

Not quite 20k on this little project, but I'm sure between maintenance, motors, batteries, etc. I'll end up spending a pretty penny on this "freebie"

Free always cost way more in the long run
Doesn't anyone here fish for trout or some kind of winter fishing? I never plan on storing my rods, I'm gonna learn how to fish for other things.

I used to fish for trout all winter until I learned to catch bass in cold water. If you are limited to only trout, the stocked ones bite way better in the cold than the wild ones

I'll have to travel a few hours to trout fish. I also plan on doing some winter bassing. This was my first full season of bass fishing. Bass fishing here in the South Bay Area sucks during prime season, so winter should be downright aggravating
I wonder what other winter fishing is to be done in Cali - anywhere from the Bay Area up to the Motherlode lakes and rivers. I only mentioned trout because I know people do it.
I plan on learning about winter fishing for different species here. Maybe try stripers a few times on the delta.

Oh yeah my bad I forgot you left New York. If you have open water year round I strongly suggest bass fishing, once I learned it was possible in winter it didn’t take long for that to become my preferred season. I find it way easier to catch big bass for whatever reason, and they are usually more predictable. My first winter catching bass was with spoons and silver buddies, although now I catch them with about anything, a 2.5 inch gulp minnow in an 1/8 oz jig head is definitely a favorite. Throw it out and kind of feather it back as it pendulums under the boat. Threadfin Shad are a lot of times half dead and twitching as they sink to the bottom when water temps get below 50, the bass suspend and gorge on them

Don't put your gear away, take a trip. I almost always spend Decembers in Florida. The only restriction I have is to be home by Christmas Eve. Brian.
For me, the depression starts when I put the boat up for the winter, that was two weeks ago. I keep a couple of combos ready to go at a moment's notice, but they likely won't see any action until ice-out. I try to keep busy with fishing related activities over the winter. I normally wait until after the holidays, but I've already checked and replaced hooks on all my treble hooked baits and I've put together three lots of baits I'll be selling come spring. At the pace I'm going, I'll be giving casting lessons at our local field house by New Years.
Being a vermonter the depression kicks in fast this time of year.. But it's short lived because soon we'll be out on the hard water jigging them up!!
Cool rod rack idea.. I'll have to build something like that so my kid can't reach them!!

Yes I'm going to fish for trout starting next week and I will not be putting up my rods just keeping them clean and organizing some stuff in the shop. More fishing not less!
Wow...eye's are not working well but was able to get the gist of it that people are thinking of putting away rods with "open"" water around....ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Wowzzer's......
Ok....done....
