Calling All Fantasy Fishing Nuts!!!! 2024

fishing user avatarShoop05 reply :

HEY GUYS!!! I KNOW YOU ALL ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO THE CLASSIC AS MUCH AS I AM. I PLAY FANTASY FISHING ON BASSMASTER.COM AND WAS WONDERING WHAT YOU GUYS THINK ABOUT HOW THESE GUYS ARE GOING TO FINISH ON GRAND LAKE??? IT LOOKS LIKE A TOUGH TOURNAMENT WITH COLD FRONTS, AND A LAKE WITH NO VEGETATION. ALOT OF "EXPERTS" ARE COUNTING THE FLORIDA BOYS OUT. IM INTERESTED TO SEE IF AN OKIE CAN BREAK THE "HOME FIELD DISADVANTAGE" CURSE.

I LOOK FOR KVD, AMART, AND EVERS TO BE SOLID, BUT I THINK SOME OF THE CLASSIC ROOKIES COULD MAKE SOME NOISE TOO.

SO.....

TELL ME WHATCHA THINK!!!!

The caps lock button is above the shift key just incase you lost it.

fishing user avatarShoop05 reply :

The "n" key is next to the "m" key if you couldn't find that.

fishing user avatareyedabassman reply :

What is that all about??? Who cares if the caps on or off! Lets just talk fishing?

fishing user avatarShoop05 reply :

I was just playing around. In all seriousness though, I would like to hear what people think about the classic.

fishing user avatarBluebasser86 reply :

Somebody is going to catch them all three days, that's why these guys are pros. Someone will get on them good and bring in high teens to 20 pounds a day and win with somewhere around 55 pounds. Oh yeah, and I'm going to be there watching them do it  :eyebrows:

fishing user avataraharris reply :

A-Mart will catch them every day...i just hope he's on the right size. #GoAmart

fishing user avatarJigMe reply :

I like hometown boy Evers, next in line is Iaconelli (he will do great if he calms down).

I am with you so far. I also like Crews in this one.

fishing user avatarjhoffman reply :

I think its going to be a spinnerbait/crankbait bite and you know who has that on lock

fishing user avatargripnrip reply :

I'm going with Jason Christie.  Although I believe Alton Jones could be a dark horse.  It all depends on the weather.  This time of year in Oklahoma is nuts.  It could be snowing and 15 or 65 and windy as hell.   Hopefully they'll get decent weather leading up to the tournament.

fishing user avatarShoop05 reply :

I think this is the kind of tournament when AMART could finally hoist the classic trophy. I want to see KVD get number 5, but I think he may end up like he did last year.

My dark horse pick is Marty Robinson. Apparently he moved to Grand Lake and has been really catching them. But the Classic is a different story. I guess we'll see.

fishing user avatarjhoffman reply :

Only five of us in the FLW league... wow

We all picked a different winner! On a side note, crankbaits on okeechobee??????

fishing user avatarShoop05 reply :

Bassmaster had an article on it and mentioned he had relocated. I don't think it's permanent, but I think he has been there awhile. I could be misinformed though

fishing user avataraharris reply :

oh i got ya...yeah i havent talked to him in a couple of months. I hope he does well...

fishing user avatargripnrip reply :

It's going to be interesting fella's! The weather could be nasty! The bottom is supposed to drop out. 60 degrees now. Next week cold with chances of snow. Gotta love Okie weather!

fishing user avatarjhoffman reply :

I gotta say, Roland really let me down today. I know hes an old hand but one would think he would have some sort of pattern. To weigh 1... 1lb fish on a lake that you own a resort on... what can be said

I had him too.   :road-rage-042:

fishing user avatarShoop05 reply :

I picked Scott Martin to win, and it was a rather dismal day there. My best guy right now is Mark Rose and he's in 27th. I hope it turns around tomorrow! :)

Ya so do I.

Im looking forward to it. Im watching the weather pretty closely for down there. If it warms up and stays that way Ill have to change a couple fantasy picks. I have a team geared for finesse right now for the most part.

I hope it is...I think that will give my buddy Aaron a better chance to win. He always does well in tough tournaments. If he makes it to the super six, I'm taking a road trip to OK. haha

fishing user avatarjbone177 reply :

This may sound kind of silly, and perhaps I should start another thread for this, but I signed up for the bassmaster fantasy fishing, yet I dont really know how it works LOL.  Im really excited about doing this but Ive never gotten into fantasy football or anything like it.  Im still learning the ins and outs of the sport and the anglers.  Ive read the descriptions of how this works but I need something along the lines of construction paper, crayons, macaroni, and stick figures to really get a grasp of whats going on...

fishing user avatarJayKumar reply :

Classic: If it's mild-ish at Grand, some of the fish could be much shallower than most folks realize. Check the piece I'm writing for Bassmaster.com, should be up next week.  However it goes, will be awesome!

fishing user avatarJKarbo214 reply :

I also play Fantasy Fishing on Bassmaster.com.  Does anyone know if there is a limit to the number of groups you can join?  I am reading that the limit is 3 on the FAQ page on Bassmaster.com but I don't see anything in the official rules and it does allow you to join more than 3.  I just want to make sure I am eligible for the big prizes if by chance I ever had a really good year.  If anyone has an answer, it'd be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

fishing user avatarShoop05 reply :

So Ive been doing some homework and trying to sort out the fantasy picks for the classic. The first tier is tough.

Who do you guys think will finish better out of these 4 guys and why?

1. Kevin Van Dam

2. Edwin Evers

3. Aaron Martens

4. Brent Chapman

Right now Im leaning on Evers, but I know Chapman has alot of experience on Grand Lake. Aaron Martens is a killer when it gets tough, and KVD has won on Grand Lake before, granted it was in the summer.

Below is how I think these guys will finish amongst each other, not necessarily in the tournament, how about you?

Evers

Martens

Van Dam

Chapman

I had heard Marty relocated down there. It must have only been for a short while because he was back home and hadn't left for the classic as of yesterday.

Hopefully he does well, I still have him picked in fantasy.

None of the above.  I went with Christie. He knows the lake intimately.  He hasn't fished it much the last 4 to 5 years.  It is going to be a jerkbait bite that wins IMO.

I wasn't necessarily picking these guys to finish in 1st through 4th, but this was just how I think they might finish amongst each other.

I think Im still going with Evers to win it, but you are 100% correct about Christie, this is his sandbox, and I expect him to do well too.

Sorry! I skipped your second sentence! lol  No I am not 100% on Christie.  Just a hunch.  I do on the other hand, think out of your 4, that the lake just doesn't set up well for Martens.  I could be wrong there as well. lol

Evers live down the road from a good friend of mine.  Based on what my buddy tells me, Evers doesn't fish Grand much.  That doesn't mean he won't do well.

The only thing I can say for sure is most of these guys catch the heck out of the fish.  I can't wait!

Yeah, and who knows it could be a classic rookie taking home the hardware!!! I can't wait either, Im like a kid waiting on christmas.

Practice starts tomorrow.  A front is coming thru.  Low's in the 30's high's in the mid 40's over the next few days.  Next week they are calling for mid 50's for the high's.  It will be interesting!

I feel like this may be a pretty tough classic. I hope it turns into a drop shot/shakey head tourney. haha #AMart #MattLee

IMO other Okies are better options.  Tommy hasn't fished this lake as much as you would think.  He has been quoted as saying so.  That doesn't mean he won't do well tho.  He does better when the water is a little warmer.

Welcome to the forum!

I don't want to count any eggs before they hatch, but my guys are looking pretty good so far through day 1, I know these are estimates, but even if theyre close, all 5 of my guys are in the top 30 and 3 are in the top 10.

Hows yours doing?
