I think VMC is my number one and Gamakatsu is wright behind.
3 way tie between gamakatsu, owner and VMC.but gammy got my vote
I use differnt brands for different applications.
#1 Owners
#2 Gammies
#3 Mustad ultra points.
Mustad Straight Shank Denny Brauer Flipping Hook #32807BLNU32
VMC 7316 EWG hook. Why? Because per gape distance the hook is shorter than Gamakatsu hooks.
I use Gamakatsu and XPoint single hooks, but picked up some
Owners for the first time yesterday. Sportsman's Warehouse
has selected sizes 1/2 off, 28 5/0 EWG Offset Worm Hooks for
$10. My standard size is 4/0 so this will be a bit of an experiment.
Otherwise, I am very impressed with VMC treble hooks and Mustad
on some of my jigs. I have never had an issue with these hooks or
those listed in the first paragraph.

IMHO nothing better than TTI Companies X-Point and Daiichi
I only use Gamakatsu. I like Owner and Mustad, but I have had to the best luck with Gamakatsu.
I only buy Gamakatsu hooks, but baits that come with other hooks don't get changed out if they are decent. Rapala uses VMC I think and they are great hooks, and alot of the jigs I use have a heavy mustad hook and those are good too.
Can't go wrong with Owner.
Catch most of my plastics bass on Slider Hooks. I use the Spider Hooks 2 3/4 " I think usually 1/16th oz, and 3/8th's. They work great for most baits I use. They can bend sometimes with a larger fish, but never lost a fish to a broken hook.
Owners are the best. Gamakatsu hooks are quickly becoming worse than Eagle Claws.
Gamakatsu EWG's, and VMC trebles.
Falcon
I would definetly have to say that Owners are the number 1 brand of hooks on the market today.

My brother put me on gammys a while ago!
Depends on the hook and the application?

What kind of hooks?
For typical soft plastics stuff, my fav is the Mustad Ultra-Lock
For trebles, I think Owner probably makes the best one out there.
Mustad
Owner for me.
Have mostly gammies but I'm not brand loyal...they are the best at my walmart
QuoteOwners are the best. Gamakatsu hooks are quickly becoming worse than Eagle Claws.
Worse than eagle claws? I could break the points off of all my gammys and they would still be sharper than eagle claws.
To answer the question: I fish gammys but I wouldn't feel disadvantaged at all if I had to use owner, mustad or VMC, they all make awesome hooks.
Owner
Mustad
Gammie
VMC
Really all pretty close.

Let me be the nut here and say that I think owner hooks are too hard. Ive had several owner worm hooks actually break before they bend.
Not too hard for bass, but I've abandoned them for bony jawed fish like salmonoids. I had a few snap at the bend on 30# fish - something I never saw happen with Raven hooks. Keep in mind this is an EXTREME argument against Owners - we're talking 30# fish + #10 size hooks. For just about all my bass fishing, I use Owners.QuoteLet me be the nut here and say that I think owner hooks are too hard. Ive had several owner worm hooks actually break before they bend.
Owner, then Gammies, then VMC.

At the beginning of last year I would have laughed at this statement. However, I had two Gammy's break, and saw someone else have one snap in half in my boat. Seriously considering another brand for 2009.
