I just purchased one and was wondering if anyone has had success with this lure/
THEY ARE GREAT.
I have most colors in #8 and #10. They are great baits in spring but should work well especially early in the mornings. I have had great success with the pearl and clown colors. If you go to Rapala.com you can watch the proper way to retrieve the x-rap. I use is as a suspending jerkbait and have had bass clobber it. Actually I have had better success with the #8 size.
Good Luck
BC57 8-)
Use the search engine ( where the little magnifying glass icon is ) type X-rap and any thread that has been written about it will appear.
I do well with the the jerk baits from the xrap series.
i just got one yesterday (when my lucky craft broke ) and im gonna use it tomorrow morning. im headed over to rapala right now to see how to work it.
i like the lure, check out the fish i caught on an xr10 perch color.
really big fish 8-) i caught a 6lb largemouth bass on same size and color
nice fish man.
yeah i have only caught one bass on the lure and it was a dinky one, i think it is kinda funny. that i can catch a huge catfish but not any good size bass, i think i might be using it wrong
i got the xr10 s and it is silver that should work right?
I don't have the hang of the xrap either.
it looks great in the water. I had 3, gave one away, and only caught one keeper on the others.
Not my favorite, but people do rave about them
They work great in spring time
Favorite size the 10 and color silver
For some reason I could not catch fish on the X-Rap so I sold them all (about 6 or 7).
For me the Megabass Vision 110, LC Pointer and Slender Pointer do the trick.
I also did well on the Evergreen Sledge-7SP.
I don't have the hang of the X-Rap either. But then I don't have a boat and they're too deep when I get them back to shore, especially with our low water levels.
well, my silver XR10 produced these two fishies for me today:
not much but it made me happy! that first pic is the first fish i caught on the xrap and my new reel. i seemed to get the hang of it pretty quick! i just jerked it a few times w/ the force of a hard hookset, then just stopped cold turkey. thats when i'd get hit. if no hits then i'd ease it forward a little bit, then start slamming on it again.
Hey Chris, just go fishin with me and i will show you how to use it! ;D
good lure, but it does work better in certain places.
I never done well with the X-rap minnow but the X-rap shad is a different story. It might be the way I fish it. I don't know.
I have better luck with other jerk baits like LC Pointers and the Rapala Husky Jerks.
I catch a fair amount of bass on them. But pickerel and northern pike tear them up (literally) in the spring. Silver, gold, whie, perch, green, clown (had to look up this color), and hot steel all produce very well. In fact, I haven't found one to be any better then another.
ivey u don't even own one man.
I really like the suspending jerkbaits. I have found they work well in early spring, when the water is just warming up and i have caught a couple nice fish this summer with them.

Seeing that it is a flathead catfish, you probably are using it right, and in the right places. Flatheads feed very differently from most other catfishes.
Flatheads seek out cover just like a bass does, and hunts just like a bass does (with just a little extra scent use). One heck of a predator.
I think your problem is that the flatheads are eating all your bass.
The one in your pic... I guesstimate around 30# (maybe more, not the best at guessing weight)... it would eat a 6# bass (maybe bigger) if it could get a hold of it.
No, I just use the original Rapala and add and remove split shot weights to make it run at different depths. I've caught fish at several depths. I teach you Thursday
i knew that flatheads hit only live bait. so that gives me some confedince in the lure due to i know it looks realistic.
and you were only 3pounds off, the fish weighted 27 pounds
could i use the xrap early in the morning during the summer?
