I'm 16 years old I've been bas fishing for 6 years now. And I trying to fish every rig I know. How do you find out what's your best rig / setup? How did you know this was it?
Mine is the swim jig. It just has been the best producer for me over the past 5 to 6 years and I have a lot of confidence in it and will throw it anywhere and at anytime and am completely confident I will catch fish with it.
My go to lure is a texas rig worm. I can cast it into any tight spot, I know the various presentations well and can detect even light bites. Basically, one's go to rig comes down to what you want to throw and master.
I am a martial artist and we have a saying that I think can be adapted to fit here. The saying goes like this "don't fear the person who has practiced 1000 moves 1 time, fear the one who has practiced one move 1000 times"
Basically, what you decide to perfect will become your go to attack.
I have two go to lures..... if the bass are chasing then I love to use a rapala dt4.... if there more sluggish and I need to work for bites my all time go to lure is a texas rigged zoom brush hog in watermelonseed color.
I'm trying to figure out mine.
Weightless zoom super fluke jr or trick worm in some type of green color combo.Takes patience, but bass can't stand something falling naturally in front of them.

What type of line?

I'll throw it on 8-12 lb fluorocarbon in light to moderate cover, but have also used braid when there's a lot of grass present. Mono will work too, just won't sink like fluorocarbon, which means you have to wait longer for the weight of the lure and hook to sink. I like to let it sink to the bottom and twitch it sharply, trying to hop it more than pull it forward so that it falls temptingly back to the bottom in front of the fish. They usually hit it on the fall.

Um....I guess i should be more detailed braid co plymer or fluro?
Sorry about that I had some technical difficulty on my first attempt to reply lol
Texas rigged worm or creature. 20lb braid with 10lb flouro leader.
texas rig senko or brushog (black and blue fleck, or green pumpkin) and a shallow diving kvd crank bait(sexy shad)
I fish for fun, and for me, that means topwater. So that's become my go to...and a Sammy is probably my favorite, that or a buzzbait.
Jig, if I get to pick up my pitching rod with 17 or 20lb fluoro and a 1/2oz brush jig and never put it down all day then I'm happy, happy, happy!
Lately it has been a 1/8 jig.
A 1/2 oz. brush jig for sure. Black/blue or brown/greenpumpkin depnding on water clarity. I go down the bank all day pitching it, and it is fun!
Right now it's a NorthStar Swim Jig with a Rage Tail Shellcracker trailer.
T-rigged green/ red flake Senko is easily the most used in my arsenal of baits and lures. Can be used anywhere you can cast it, with or without weight.
A Texas or weightless watermelon with black flake senko.
For the past couple weeks mine has been the Kinami Palm Tree. My senko bite for some reason has been non-existent this year. The lipless crank bite has faded. My jig had a few taps today but no takes. From running overtop of weedmats to bottom 20'-25' the Palm Trees have shined.
Texas Rigged Brush Hog in Green Pumpkin, Watermelon Red, or Watermelon Candy. Always seems to work, probably cause I throw it more than anything else. Jigs are growing into my Go To or Confidence bait though.
3/8oz arkie head jig. Doesn't catch a lot of fish, but it catches some big ones
Shakeyhead and if they day is going way of skunk... Throw on a frog on and have fun, cause a hog could eat it any second
Today it's been different caught a 6 plus on a lipless...usually my go to is Texas rig but with this overcast it didn't work.
Black/ blue jig, or any jerk bait. Currently using zoom super fluke and sluggo
Mine is a Fat Ika Black/blue flake, weightless.
Lucky Craft RC 1.5
KVD 2.5
Texas rigged Missle D-Bomb
Mine is a jig...love to fish a jig and then probably a fluke on a weighted hook.
weightless fluke, rat l trap, wacky rigged senko
PB&J colored jig. AMAZING
Jitterbug or jointed Rapala for me.
Terminator Spinnerbait! Usually 1/2oz. chart/white.
probably a senko. It just catches fish everywhere and I am confident with it.
Texas rigged lizard or roboworm
KVD 1.0 in bluegill or sexy shad.
War Eagle 3/8oz Spinnerbait in Mouse color. I flat out catch them on this. In the water it looks a lot like a crappie.
Bream colored swim jig with a watermelon candy Zoom speed craw trailer.
Wacky rig
Chatterbait
Mike
Green Pumpkin Senko
Fat Ika
Drop Shot
Cavitron buzzbait black on black catches the big girls. only thing I've been using lately even in midday bluebird skies and still reeling them in.

I am definitely putting this someplace. My problem is that there is so many fun ways to catch fish. I really need to hunker down and perfect a precious few!
1/2 oz or 3/4 oz Spinnerbait chart/white with a red hook and dual Colorado blades.
Honestly my goto lure depends on the kind of day/season. But my all time favorite lure the heddon torpedo is what i usually use.
Any number of soft plastics (senko, ika, craw/creature), tex-posed and slowly twitched back to me.
Depends on the water.
But if it's a tough bite and I dont know the waters, usually a weightless plastic. Trick worms, brush hogs, speed worms, ect.
Very much depends on the water. If I'm stuck with one bass bait, right now its a 3" stick bait since it can catch numbers in a variety of presentations.
Rage craw on a rage rig
T-rigged Yum dinger
