What brand , series and length worm do you like best for using with a Neko Rig ?
I'm after a worm which is a little softer , has more fluid movement and at least has some semi-floating capability versus the current Zoom Finesse and Trick Worm I currently use .
ZMan TRD
Zman TRD is hard to beat. I've also used a torn half of a senko or torn half of a cut r worm, but prefer the TRDs.
Zoom Double Ringer.
Are you talking Neko rig or Ned rig? Two different rigs. TRD's are more of a Ned rig bait IMO. I think you want your neko rig to be longer.
Anyway, another rig that I carry in the boat but don't fish very often. I'd choose Trick worms or Strike King makes some Elas-tech straight tail worms that are 6 or 7 inches long, might try those. The original floating worm - Danny Joe Humphries Floating worm might be a good choice if you can find them - they're hard to find. If you want to go bubba, Netbait makes their version of a trick worm in a 10" or 11" version.
I don't see why a ribbon tail worm wouldn't work for this technique either. Something like a 6 or 7 inch culprit or the 7" Power worm. Just random thoughts - hope they help
Pro Senko
GY Kut Tail
i must have misread it as ned rig..... sorry.
neko rig, i haven't used much, but was using the zoom trick worm or the netbait t mac
Try using the bio spawn exo stick! Great bait for the neko rig!

No problem - will add I saw a couple of worms that might work on a Neko rig : a Robo Fat Worm 6" or 7" length and a Reins Swamp Mover 6" and Bubbling Shaker 7" worm ...I have not used any of these three worms yet though .

only thing that kept me from trying a couple of worms that i had was the worm was too skinny too hold the neko weight effectively (normal size roboworm and some ribbed worms i had)
i think i'm going to try a kut tail or pro senko now based on the suggestions above....
Good replies and considerations - yes the nose of the worm can't be too skinny to accept the Neko weight !
Reaction innovations has a newer worm out. Can't think of the name. Pocket rocket I think.
I think the key to a Neko rig set up is a worm that is approx. 6" ~ 7" length , with a nose large enough to accept a weight and lastly with enough action and flexibility to giove good action ... An old timer I met at DSG recently likes the 6" Strike King KVD worm - but then he looked around and said he was going to hoard all of the 6" ElazTech worms from Z-Man in GP and Junebug colors for himself for the Neko rig (too funny !!) ... I would have to think that a 6" ElazTech worms would stand up great and perform well with the Neko rig ...
Any worm you can jam a neko weight, a nail, or even a little ball jig with the curve of the hook nipped off will work.
5"-7" flukes
I am glad to see these suggestions. I meant to try the neko rig this past summer but completely forgot. I am determined to try it come spring.
Very interesting suggestion on the fluke. I will definitely give that a try. I don't think a zman or other elaztech would work without using a broken off shakey head or tube hook because I can't see a nail weight going into a n elaztech bait like that.
KVD bullworms are pretty nice.

Did you end up using the Bubbling shaker last year? I'm testing the 5" as I type this and it looks amazing. I have it side by side against the 6.5" GY cut tail. Just on how it looks alone not even close the bubbling shaker blows it away. However I'm curious to see what the fish prefer. The cut tail worm does have a bigger profile.
Trick worm or bio spawn plasma tail.
Original trick worm & strk king kvd elaztech worm with a stainless steel screw in the head & a #1 octopus hook.
Usually works for me. I use the ovtupus hook for wacky & drop shot also.
Uptons Customs and Iovino 6" straight tail worms, 1/4" cut flat off the nose end, 3/32 oz nail weight, size 2 Owner #5172 weedless wacky hook about 1" back of nose end on 6 to 8 lb FC line.
You want a worm that floats tail end up.
Tom
My favorites are the finesse miki from damiki and the reactions innovations flirt worm
GY 5in and 6.5 in kut tail

How do you fish the kut tail? Do you twitch it in place? Or lift it a few inches off the bottom and let it fall back down?

With a nail weight and an O-ring neko rigged. I drag it up really slow and bump it into anything. If it falls off something I let it fall on slack line. It has a very unique shimmy on the fall. Kut tails are ridiculously expensive and ridiculously productive. I can get several fish out of 1 bait if I use an O-ring. They also have a very unique shimmy on a light unpegged texas tig when fished along grass lines.

I just bought a lot of 3 off Ebay for $16.50 with free shipping so I thought that was a good deal. Thanks for the tips. I still like the looks of the Reins Bubbling shaker over the kut tail. You need to get you some.

Keep an eye on overstockbait.com. They will run them on sale for 1.99 or less a bag a few times over the winter. Their color selection is almost nothing at this point due to the sales they had earlier in the winter right now. When they restock they usually run a huge sale and it's a massive free for all for a couple days.

He said Neko rig.You can use ANY bait for the neko.TRD included.
Netbait C-Mac or a Paca Craw!
6-1/2" Biospawn Plasma Tail
Just tried the Neko Rig for the first time last week and I used a BioSpawn ExoStick, worked GREAT, they aren't stiff at all, so they move a lot.

Well I'll be darned .... Going to steal this one.
Sorry people can't read dude.
I have excellent results with the 5" Cabelas stick worm and the Z-Man ZinkerZ.
Both hold up great when using an "O" ring. The ZinkerZ take a minute to get the weight into tho.
These two have a different enough action that it's worth trying both.
Almost all of my Neko rigging is done with 5" Yum Dingers, or Yum's 6" finesse worm. 1/16th oz. Damiki nail sinkers for general purpose use, I bump up to 1/8th oz for deeper water ( >12' or more) or windy conditions. #1 VMC Neko hooks, and o-rings for both.
My favorite Neko baits are the Yum Swimming Dinger and the Missile Baits 48 worm.
I am going to try the original Zoom Trick worm this weekend and see how it goes.
I keep it pretty simple. Usually it’s either a 6.5” zoom trick worm, or a 5” Senko. Once in while I’ll a 7” ribbon tail worm. These baits seem to work well enough for me to not give any other baits a try.
I was recommended by a Cabelas employee to try the Bio Spawn Exo Stick Pro. It's a 5" worm and has a perfectly flat end in which to add a nail weight to and the middle is thicker than the ends which makes a perfect spot for the neko hook.
I’ve caught the most fish with 5” Yum Dingers. But my biggest fish have came fishing deep with Mann’s Jelly Worms in the 9” & 12” sizes.
I have had good luck with Diawa's neko worm (the skinny one) also the original 5" senko does great neko rigged.
I used the Z-Man Hula Stickz last night and caught 3 fish. They worked well. My only complaint was I use dollar store nails as weights and I had to keep pushing them back into the elastech material after every few casts.

Heat up a straightened paper clip with a lighter and melt a channel as deep as you want the nail. If you can push it all the way into the head I have been experimenting with lighting the tip of the worm and let it burn for a second or two. It will melt the hole closed.
I love the amount of necro-posting on these forums ???? it is beneficial however! I just ordered my first set of nail weights, ill be trying this out soon. Got some great worm advice reading through the thread!

as @Bluebasser86 stated in another post it is usually a new member getting here from an internet search.
ironically if a new member opens a new thread on a common subject, someone will often post a link to an older thread.

Oh no you're absolutely correct. I never understood why so many boards dont allow it. After all, that's how I found these boards ????
Senko knock-offs like the 5" Yum Dinger. I save the GYCB Senkos for fishing weightless.
