Thanks guys. And I see your on the Missouri State Team, congratulations.

fishing user avatarBass XL reply :

Thank you sir! I was on it in 08-09, but due to being away at school, I took a break this year.

fishing user avatarww2farmer reply :

Spro Bronzeye 65.

fishing user avatarJ Francho reply :

Spro, Scumfrog Trophy and BigFoots, Deps Basyriski.

fishing user avatarpiscicidal reply :

Zoom horny toad and Spro bronze eye.

fishing user avatarDavid P reply :

Snag Proof Bobby's Perfect Frog, haven't found a frog better. I love these things, they walk with ease, great hook up ratio, and awesome colors.

fishing user avatarspinnerbaitalways reply :

Stanley "Ribbit Frog" with double take hook!!!!

fishing user avatarUnder the Radar reply :

Captain Ken's Frog - Light Green Pickerel

Spro Poppin Bronzeye

Bitter's Buzzin Gator

fishing user avatarDBatey reply :

I throw the Tru-Tungsten frogs, anyone who buys one needs to make sure the package says new softer material though. When they first came out they were too hard and not worth anything. I like them over the Spro because of the way they sling the water out on the cast so you never have to squeeze them out. I still have Spro poppin' frogs, but I am not happy with the smaller hook they have. I am excited to try the new Paycheck baits frogs, they look awesome, I just don't have one yet.

fishing user avatarOHIO reply :

Scumfrog.

Same one I use. I have been trying the phat frog but do not have enough fish on it yet to say I like it better. I have had one hell of a time getting anything going this year on the top water bite. Punching has been crazy though.

fishing user avatarSoFlaBassAddict reply :

Spro, TT, Bobby's Perfect, take your pick on the hollow bodies.  They all work.

Horny Toads, Cane Toads, JD's Custom Frogs.  I like the Rage Toad and Shad, but they just tear far too easily.  Great bait when they stay together though.

fishing user avatarshutupnfish reply :

Spro bronzeye 65 because I can get 'em locally and even when half the paint is missing from relentless annihilation from LMB, they produce as if they're brand spankin' new.  I'm sure the others perform just as well, but I've never tried them.  Mainly because they're not offered around here.  Don't fish soft plastic "toads" 'cause I don't like shelling out almost the same amount of cash for a 5 pack of whatever brand and I might get 5 fish.  When I've used them though they seem to get decent results.  Later.

Steve

fishing user avatarWanderLust reply :

Spro and the rage toad here...

fishing user avatarGatorbassman reply :

Spro Bronzeye Frog.

fishing user avatarTourPT reply :

Spro Poppin & 65, Scum Frog Popper, Mann's Super Frog.

fishing user avatarbrushhoggin reply :

white spro all day.

oh and Ribbits in baby bass

fishing user avatarNateFollmer reply :

I like Tru-Tungsten's frog. I have never used the SPRO one, I just started using the TT because it was given to me and I'm set in my ways :(

I also like to throw the Rage Shad and the rage craw for when I want a 'finesse' frog.

X2

I like mine in the BullFrog color.  I haven't tried the hot feet line yet, but they may aggrivate more which could prove to be better as the temps cool.

RageTail has the Rage Toad (I have not tried it yet) that is supposed to work well also.

fishing user avatar7mm-08 reply :

I like Spros but I've had by far the most luck with popping scum frogs.

fishing user avatarRoLo reply :

Needless to say, there's never been a hollow-frog made that doesn't catch bass.

However, if you refuse to wring the water out of the hollow body every few casts,

there's only ONE frog I'm aware of that does not take on water.

Snag Proof's "Ish Phat Frog" has a separate hook chamber that's segregated from the frog body.

Phat Frog will probably be my #1 next year.

Walks with ease and does not take on water. Can't wait for next spring and summer.

Good ol standard Scumfrog,,very soft. Just make sure you have a baitcaster that can throw light stuff.

fishing user avatarscbassin reply :

Try a Boze Sumo Frog. They float low in the water like a real frog & they catch fish. The draw back is you need to squeeze the water out after a few cast. It's no big deal as it only takes a squeeze or two. Tackle Warehouse carries them.  :(

fishing user avatarJuggernoob reply :

SPRO Bronzeye 65 in Green Tree and Toad for hollow body and Stanley Ribbit for soft plastic.

same!! i did have trouble with one of my spro's taking on water anyway, koppers frog looks legit, looks like my next mainstay frog!

fishing user avatarfrogflogger reply :

We throw frogs 12 months a year - I'm embarrassed to admit how many I carry in my boat - we throw different frogs in specific situations - windy weather is our best friend for big bass on furbits, and some of the popping frogs - we use snagproofs, scum frogs, TT, Swamp donkeys, Koppers, sumo's, spro king frog and popper, I can't seem to do well with reg. spro that is so popular, we just got some of Ish's phat frogs and will try them tomorrow but a serious cold front is blowing through so that could be a tall order - sticking to the frog is the main thing - it is not unusual to go 3 or 4 hrs. before we get results but then you can bust several in a matter of minutes. My partner has two over 8lbs in the last month by persevering through slow days. and don't overlook fishing them in open water, some are deadly. We also modify a lot of them in some way or other, usually super gluing the nose and around the weight.

fishing user avatarSam reply :

A number of them.

Not any specific one.

From Ribits to Spro and a few inbetween.  :(

fishing user avatarMediumHeavy reply :

Scumfrog and Spro.  I caught a lot of bass on a regular chartreuse scumfrog late this past summer, and then tried a green Spro Bronzeye and a brown Spro Bronzeye Jr.  The Spro's are really nice, I like the action a lot.  I just wish they weren't ten bucks a pop.

fishing user avatarWild Bill [NY] reply :

SnagProof Bobby's Perfect or Snagproof's BassKicker Frogs for me. Both work great...and they are MADE IN THE USA.

Not many others can say that...

I don't have enough time in with the Ish's Phat Frog yet, but it looks very promising with the floatation chamber now not requiring the squeezing being the sale point of that.

Personally, while I do have to squeeze the frogs after a few casts[ like I have to do with other brand frogs too] to expel water, it has never really bothered me that much to do so.

Given a choice, I buy AMERICAN MADE PRODUCTS if they are as good and as inexpensive as others, like the SnagProof's are. It's a family-run business based in OHIO, not some big conglomerate nor a foriegn company like the others are.

And yes, they answer the phone and you can speak to the VP or Pres anytime you call them. GREAT customer service there !!!

fishing user avatarBaker06 reply :

I like the scumfrog bigfoot, but I will use the mans super frog some times too. My buddy back home in Florida was laughing at the scumfrog till I out did him 3 or 4 times in a row with it then he had to go buy one for his self.

fishing user avatarVinny Chase reply :

River2sea Bully Wa is my go to frog bait

fishing user avatarkikstand454 reply :

well i recently got a spro jr. and man do i wish i had that money back. all it does is sink. every cast i have to squeeze water out and it never makes it all the way back to the boat on top of the water. this was on the first trip. 9dollars? i dont think so. im glad they work for other people but i will not be buying another.

im excited to try the ish phat frog.

right now i think imma stick to scumfrog pros in the pads and good ol manns super frogs in the slop.

they may not be the best but at least they are less than spros. and ive caught a ton of fish on them.

Provided you don't damage the hook chamber,

the Ish Phat Frog will float till the cows come home.

That said, I need to come clean.

Hollow-frogs have virtually been phased out of my bass arsenal.

Sounds blasphemous I know, but I have an ongoing love affair with "solid toads".

By the way, there are four solid toads that are constructed of buoyant plastic,

which float like a hollow frog. However, "Floater" must be specified,

otherwise you'll technically be fishing a 'subsurface' lure

fishing user avatarBassThumb reply :

I'm almost ashamed to admit that I had a black Phat Frog tied on this summer for at least two straight months, and it kept catching nice fish so I had no reason to switch. That's my new favorite, but you can't go wrong with Snag Proof or Spro.

Who ever said that a frog that's half filled with water no longer catches fish, anyway? That issue is exaggerated. A heavier frog displaces more water, creating more splash and vibration, and knocks the cover around when the frog bumps into it. I think Spros work better the more worn out they get, for this reason and because they soften up. I like how heavier frogs like Phat Frogs and water filled frogs tend to slip between pads or move around them rather than crawl over. They stay in the strike zone longer by snaking between the pads, and a frog sitting next to a pad catches more fish than a frog sitting on top of one.

yeah thats true but a large portion of the reason i even fish a hollow bodied frog is for the topwater bite/excitement. when the frog fills with water it isnt as easy to work... it doesnt do what you want it to do. it basically feels like a crankbait with the line wrapped around a treble.

i know of course that a frog thats just barely under the water can catch just as many fish if not more... but i just cant stand the feel and the action. not to mention how much it hangs up then. its just not worth it. if its not going to float then i can throw a horney toad or rage shad.

fishing user avatarDTack reply :

Bobby's Perfect Frog.  Walks easy, casts great, plenty soft for great hookups and the colors are easy to pick!

fishing user avatarOwasco reply :

Have any of you tried the frogs from FloridaKayakFishing.com?

They look amazing to me but they are kind of expensive @ $25-$50 a pop.  But the detail in the frogs is far and away the best I've seen.

Oh and I have not tried them.  I am having a hard time shelling out that kind of glue for something that may not come back to the boat.

fishing user avatarscbassin reply :

I received my Koppers frogs from T/W this morning so if it warms up a tad & the wind lays down a good bit I'll be trying them out later this afternoon, if not over the week-end.

fishing user avatarFishinDaddy reply :

I also throw frogs all the time.  Spro, Bitters buzzin gator, Gambler cane toad, Zoom horny toad.  And that's just the ones I threw this morning.  I think it is more about sticking with the frog and presentation than the brand.  The only reason I change up is matching how much noise I want to make  based on the wind and how heavy the crap is that I'm draggin it through.

fishing user avatarPa Angler reply :

My favorite frog bait is a Zoom Horny Toad I got to tell you it's the best thing since sliced bread. I use a Gamakatsu 5/0 Skip Gap hook. I just love the way Largemouth, Smallmouth and Pike explode on it I also caught a 28" Musky and large Rock Bass on it as well.

Tight Lines

Pa Angler

fishing user avatarsoopd reply :

Spro used to be my favorite until an Academy opened up in Decatur.  I use their H20 Xpress Frogs.  Built just like spro but half the price.
