I ordered one of these from *** the other day and it says on the tru-tungsten website that they're available for pre-order at *** and won't be available until January? Did i just pre-order one or will it arrive with all my other stuff i ordered?

Some are available now , some on 12-22 and the rest on 12-29.

fishing user avatarSimp reply :

Hunt4Hawgs there is no doubt a good number of them have shipped to retailers. Sp hopefully when you ordered from TW you saw a 3+ or something by them instead of 12/29 date. I'm betting you saw a instock number like 3+ because from what I can remember from the other thread you ordered early that morning when they came in stock. They have since been selling out from what I can tell. My order for them at Cabela's have already shipped and will be here the 23rd. Now if the weather would get out of the teens.

fishing user avatarMALTESE FALCON reply :

I purchased the last one BPS (Detroit) had. Now I'm waiting for the ice to melt.

fishing user avatarBassin_Fin@tic reply :

I got a $25 gift card for bps and plan on getting one.Naturally they don't carry the Spro, which is what I want.(dam you again bass pro!)

Now what? I can't decide which color to get or whether to get the sinker or waker  :-/. Monkey says I need to get some more money and get two floaters and two sinkers :;)

fishing user avatarBARON49_Northern NY reply :

Has anyone actually used one of these baits?  I have used quite a few hard swimbaits and was wondering how well this baits track and how durable they are?

fishing user avatarTournyFish001 reply :

nope never used one- I am getting tired of the Spro, king shad and tru tungsten swimbait posts though.  Enough already buy some and try them-

fishing user avatarTournyFish001 reply :

do a search and see how many post there are about these baits- I read the post because I wanted to see if someone actually used the bait in question-

At the risk of being rude.....if you have never used these swimbaits and aren't interested in them, why do you bother to read the threads and post on them? Some of us are actually interested in learning about them. The last I knew this is what these threads we for......for people who want more information from those who actually know what they are talking about.

Have a Merry Christmas... ;)

Keep asking questions!  Yes, this is a hot topic and there have been recent threads, but ask away.  You will weed through the people that have no business posting in the thread because they don't contribute anything and eventually get an answer that you need.  I haven't personally thrown it, but I will say the Spro BBZ Shad is an excellent bait.

Thanks for posting and keeping this swimbait thread alive.  I am glad that these questions are being asked, because that means there are other anglers than myself trying to get better!

fishing user avatarBARON49_Northern NY reply :

Thank you for the reply. Glad to see someone else is actually interested in getting some information. Personally I have been working with swimbaits hard and soft for several years. Most of the hard baits have produced the best, but as mentioned in another thread they do not hold up well. Was hoping someone actually KNEW something about these Tru Tunsten 4" baits and could enlighten all of us about them. ;)

This is off topic, but how have the Spro swimbaits held up and how well do they track?

fishing user avatarsenko_77 reply :

The Spro has help up perfectly for me, but honestly, there have been some guys saying the tails will come off after catching a few fish.  Like I said, this hasn't happened personally, but Randall, another member, has had 3 tails come off.

The bait will swim arrow straight wether barely crawled or burned.  I have only used the slow and fast sink, so I can't give an answer for the floater.

Hope this helps.

fishing user avatarBARON49_Northern NY reply :

Yes, you have confirmed what I was told by several other people about the tails coming off.  Todate the only hard swimbaits that have held up well for me have been the Sebiles and the big jointed Rapalas.

I catch more on the KingShads, but have broken a lot of them.  Was hoping to hear these 4" Tru Tunsten baits were made tough.  Sooner or later someone who has some expericence with them will chime in.

Thanks for the info.

fishing user avatarTournyFish001 reply :

I will offer a tip I learned and use with the jackall giron: I know its a different bait but I think it may work on the T Tungsten and Spro(I know it works on tha spro BBZ- my buddies preference) they look similar: weight the front hook with a 1/8oz clam shell split shot type weight on the shaft of the front treble- fish the bait slow just above the bottom, I walk the dog with a twitch and stop retrieve reeling in slack line as I go- a lot like a top water stick bait- it works really well when they are low in the water column-

Good fishin' to ya

I created a entire thread to deal with this possible issue. It's on page 2 now and nobody has responded but I'm not surprised considering the weather. I've ordered some from all the brands and will stick with the most durable.

fishing user avatar-nick- reply :

Yeah I got my order today of all of my tackle goodies for Christmas which includes the bbz-1 shad as well as the TT 4 inch swimbait. I'm getting the Giron for christmas also from my girlfriend so thanks for the tip jackall freak. But yeah when I get all these swimbaits out on the water next week I'll post some info on them.  ;)

fishing user avatarshawnmc reply :

My Tru Tungsten swimbaits are now in stock and shipped today from Tackle Wharehouse. I won't use them for a few months though. If anyone gets a chance to use theres let us know how you like them.

fishing user avatarSimp reply :

I got my Tru-Tungsten, Spro BBZ, and the Revolution shad today. My conclusions so far is the Revolution Shad is down right horrible. I don't know if I got a lemon or what but it has no action at all. The Tru Tungsten bluegill model was defective out of the box. The pin was either shoved in to far or broke off. The Shad tru tungsten was the wrong fall rate. I did test it out in the bath tub to see it's action and it does have very nice action. Last is the Spro BBZ and it blew all the others out of the water. The swimming action was great but the fast sink probably helps. I only wish they had a bluegill pattern. So I plan on mailing back the Tru Tungsten's I bought for a slow/fast sink bluegill model and a Spro BBZ. I also plan on mailing back the Revolution Shad.

fishing user avatar-ebby- reply :

simp how is the bluegill pattern? an the internet i dont really like it, any different in person?

fishing user avatarSimp reply :

Personally I think it's a little to dark for my tastes. I'd like to see more orange on the belly as well. But it certainly looks better then the crappy revolution shad bluegill pattern I got. What I might do to one is add some orange on the belly and add a little red to on the gill. I think part of the problem is the bluegill can look so different at different times of the year and at different places across the country. I sure with the spro had a bluegill pattern.

fishing user avatarsenko_77 reply :

Simp, contact Thad who is one of our members here on BR.  He just painted me a custom bluegill BBZ Shad that was the most realistic paint job I have ever seen.  The combination of the Spro's action and the amazing paint Thad will lay down on it will make your BBZ a fish catching machine!

If you're all about that bluegill pattern like me then you'll love the look of the Jackall Giron. It looks even better in person than it does on the internet! Looks exactly like a little bluegill in the lake I fish.

fishing user avatarPrimus reply :

I just got my Tru Tungsten in yesterday, unfortuneately with lakes being ice covered where I live I'll have to wait to next spring to check it out. I recieved my Spro bait a few weeks back and it looked good in the water with the limited number of  cast that I've made. Good tip from JackallFreak on the Giron, I'm going to have to try that next year.

Oh yeah the Tru Tungsten is pretty small and probably best on spinning or 6-66 M rods. The Spro BBZ is a fair amount larger then the tru tungsten. Again my problem beside the wrong sink rate was the fact the pin was either pushed down to far or broke on the top.

I'd love a BBZ1 in a bluegill pattern.  If you have some pics, could you PM me too?

Thanks

I use 20lb test. But don't worry mine came perfect i love it. I also have a bbz-1 shad and they both swim very similar the only real difference i can tell is the size.
