I Really Need Some Advice Guys...please 2024

I fish on the Tenn Tomm waterway in Mississippi. The pool I fish on is somewhat varied. The water is stained and mostly shallow. There are no real creeks running in it or coves of any size. Just bank on either side. Because of this, I target visible cover that sits in the shallows around the bank. Both sides are covered with rocks 95% of the time. I'm just not getting results.
I've thrown everything I know to throw. I've tried every technique I know and still catch a maximum of 2 fish per day I fish. Half the time I feel like I'm just wetting lure for the fun of it. I've researched for HOURS daily. I just can’t get any results. My main bait is texas rigged soft plastics (senkos, brush hogs, finesse worms, etc). I'm getting so discouraged that I don't even look forward to going anymore, but I still go and try my best every time. ANY kind of general help is STRONGLY needed, especially help regarding fishing water systems like I am on. If more information is needed I’ll be happy to supply it!

Learn the areas you will find bass in or go to a different lake.
Why do you keep doing the same thing?
Do you know other bass fishermen who are successful fishing
that water?
It's possible the bass population in that water is low.

How much do you throw at the cover. Be sure to hit every inch of the cover.

I do the same thing because I have zero confidence in anything other than spinners and t-rigs. I'm trying to branch out into different techniques. The bass population is actually good. The pool I fish is known to be one of the better pools in the water system. I go to this lake because I know it holds fish, and I know plenty of people who have had plenty of success there.

I hit every single inch. I'll sit at fallen tree and cast for 25 minutes, making I don't miss anything.

The lake I did most of my fishing on the last two years hasn't been producing any decent sized bass for me this year. So I tried I new lake I'd been meaning to try for a while now, and I'm doing much better. I don't doubt that your spot holds fish. But sometimes changing it up makes all the difference.

I've though long and hard about traveling an extra 15 minutes to try another pool that I have been told is a great spot.

Confidence is in yourself, skill is with your baits and how to use them. You can do this. If I can do it you can do it.
No negativity. Try topwater? What time are you fishing?

I've experiemented with topwater somewhat. I fish anywhere from 6:30 am-1:00 pm to 1:00 pm-5:30 pm.

Three twitch. The twitches need to be exactly the same.
Pause repeat.
Do you have any spinnerbaits?, shallow crankbaits?
You need to break the norm with new presentations.

I do have a few spinner baits but no crankbaits (yet). Why do the twitches need to be the same? I have a buzzbait and hollow body frog.

Why 6:30? You have missed the best bite of the day. Get out before first light. Throw squarebills over the rocks. When it gets light, switch to fly-lined senkos. How heavy a line are you using?

If you are spinning your wheels for hours at the old fishing hole, that fifteen minute drive sounds like a no brainer to me. I've seen good productive waters turn sour, and vice versa. One of my local favorites was a dependable, constant producer of numbers and size, smallmouth and largemouth for four or five years. In the past three years, it has really gone downhill, which I attribute to most of the vegetation disappearing.
Every spring, sea run herring enter the pond from the Cape Cod canal to spawn. Without cover, the young herring and that of other species as well become easy prey, and the bass have easy pickings. That's my opinion, right or wrong. The point is that I do not waste my time beating the waters of that pond to a froth, trying to catch either non-existent or uncooperative fish.
You need to try some different baits/techniques. The purple people eater that worked so well last year, may not interest the fish this year.
If it hasn't been suggested in a prior post, try a shaky head rig with a floating worm so it will stand up on the bottom and fish it slowly. Drag it a bit, twitch it a bit and mix it up until you find the presentation the fish are looking for. Note: Fish do not read the books and articles that we do, so they do not always behave according to our rules.

Branch out to other lures and techniques , they all work .You are severely handicapping yourself I fish the Mississippi river and tributaries . Chartreuse Bomber Flat A is a good bait for me also anything that sinks and has a built in action like small compact spinnerbaits " Rocket shad is a good choice " , lipless cranks ...Cast these lures upstream along the rip rap banks at different depths . Let them sink to the bottom , even out in deeper water . Once they hit bottom lift the lure immediately and retrieve staying close to the bottom the entire retrieve . When fishing rip rap you must keep the bait close to it ,if your not bumping rocks or close to it the entire retrieve your not catching fish . Im guessing you have a depth finder . Look offshore . Get some marker buoys and start marking places and fish them . Are there gulls there ? I always watch gulls closely . They know where the good fishing spots are . Just try to gain experience each time you go fishing and dont limit yourself.
I take it that this is a river system with some current . Is this correct or a lake with no current ?

From what you described, if I went there tomorrow morning to fish I'd have the following rigged up. Black/blue jig with blue sapphire trailer, a shakey head with a green pumpkin with chart tip tail, black/blue rage lobster, black/blue swim jig with sapphire blue Rage menace, and a chartreuse spinner bait with a gold Colorado blade. Also, do t overlook a single tail grub. It doesn't seem too many guys fish them much anymore, but they still catch fish.

I don't know much about the system other than what you've told us, but I know I'd start out covering water with something like a squarebill, spinnerbait, or swim jig. All three of those baits are great for locating active fish. Also, I wouldn't hesitate to dive the extra 15 minutes to try that new area either.

I've gotten discouraged like this because I fish mainly from shore. Best thing I can say... GO FISH SOMEWHERE ELSE. Freshen it up, a change of scenery, regardless of success, will go a long way psychologically. It has paid huge dividends for me, both in fish catches and persistence. It has changed my perception and helped me to realize why I am truly out there. I'm outdoors, one with nature, in God's creation. This is a sport and pastime I love. Don't give up and try to remain positive, the fish catches will come with putting in the time. After you fish somewhere else, or multiple others places, you'll be amazed when you return to your old spot. Fishing is mental, physical, emotional and spiritual. The more I make it about the spiritual and physical, the better off I am mentally and emotionally. Hang in there, I wish you the best.

I REALLY appreciate the help guys. So far, from the advice given in this thread, during Thanksgiving holidays I will go to the pool that is 15 minutes away. I will also throw different baits and try to "search" for them. I'm going to try to figure the bass out for once and maybe you all will see me posting results! Yall don't know how much the advice has helped me and my confidence as well.

I have no idea about the area you're talking about but if there are fish there they can be caught. Go after them with crankbaits cover a lot of water. I see you don't talk about them much or at all. Bomber, Bandit, Cotton, SK and Storm all have basic patterns that should work anywhere. Sorry, Rapalas also. I'd have a Rapala in the water first. This is what I'd be fishing first if I were to be dumped off at your area. Than I go at them with a finesse worm or creature bait or some type of grub. Everyone fishes differently. You fish clear or stained water? I could shoot you some Crankbait pics but I have to believe you know about color patterns. I have a lot of CBs but you only need a handful to get started. d**n, I'd probably have a rattle trap tied on first. Than that Rapala. You only need (3) rattle trap patterns, chrome/ black, chrome w/ blue back and a gold w/ black back. Buy the real ones not the crap everyone has tried to copy.

I really think you need to switch gears completely. Fishing slowly, picking cover apart isn't working right? So grab a crankbait, spinnerbait, or bladed jig and start covering water. This is the time of year when fish start to feed heavily on baitfish. There's times they won't even look at a bait on the bottom around here.

I'd say you need to move around more. If you're not getting bit in about 15 minutes move Or change your bait.
