Anyone ever use a Paca Craw with success? I have a bag of Knock offs from a company by the name of Wacky Worm Inc. The Knock Offs look identical with the exception of the claws. Instead of the lines on the claws that the Paca Craw Has,these knock offs have little bumps.
Whats the best way to present this bait? I was thinking that since these are hollow, that a tube jig head would work. Am I wrong?
How does everyone get their best use out of a Paca Craw?
Texas rigged is the most common. It'll work well as a jig trailer also.
The paca craw is an amazing bait. I catch a ton of fish on it. Mostly texas rigged, but I have also done well as a jig trailer and a shakey head bait. They are very versatile and the paca craw accounted for a couple tournament wins for me last year.
Any way you can think of! I use them for everything even on a c-rig.
In my opinion Paca Craws are simply the best. I T rig most of the time but also use them on a jig.
If I am right about this, the guy who run Wacky Worm is the one who developed the original Paca Craw and sold the rights to it. Someone else may have all of the facts about this.
Buy a pack of Rage Tail Craws (same color) and test them
head-to-head, T-tigged or as jig trailers. I used to be a big
fan of the Paca Craw, too!
I have done the head to head and for me the Pecas out fish the rage tails.
QuoteI have done the head to head and for me the Pacas out fish the rage tails.
Same here, at least with the craws. Just the opposite with the chunks though...............go figure.
They're awesome. Texas rigged, is what I always did.
Once you experience with them a little, try a chigger craw or Rage Tail craw, and decide whether you like the hollow or solid ones better.
Paca Craw is hard to beat.
AMAZING COLORS.
I guess I don't find much difference in either, though I prefer to use the Ragetail product. I just "like it better" and I feel like I fish better with it.
Now, there are times when things seem like NEITHER would work. Then I move to something with LESS action. Something subtle.
I've spent up to $100 on various Rage Craws,lizards,2 sizes of anacondas, toads, space monkey and shad.I've thrown the craw annnies and space monkey and haven't had much(if any success) I've thrown the smaller Chigger craw and got a good amount of bites and caught a fair share of fish on em.Ill have to give the Paca Craw a work out when I start fishing again next year

No denying that they are both incredible baits. For me it would be too hard to just prefer one over the other. Test each in the water with various weights added and there is definitely a difference in action. The paca stands up and is very sensitive to the slightest wiggle. You can bed fish these and drive a bass completely insane with those claws flappin. The rage puts off a lot more thump and in my opinion is well suited for dirty water, night fishing, pitching heavy cover with a heavy sinker, and swimming. Bottom line though if the bass are on a good craw bite they will demolish either.
Used both of them this year. Both are great baits but only got bit on the paca craw. Big difference for me paca craws $3.50 for 8 and rage craws $5 for 7. More bang for the buck with the paca's
I have done much better with the Paca Craw as compared to the Rage Craw. I think most of us have tried all of the Rage products and have our own opinions about them, good and bad. But for me it is the Paca all the way.
I've had good success with the baby paca texas rigged, with a 1/4oz. bullet weight and tube rattle inserted in hollow body cavity, with 3/0 ewg hook.
Tiny paca paired with 3/16 pro Spot Remover standup finesse jig head. Alabama craw as a general universal starting color choice.

The Paca has produced for me too, but the chigger craw is the best craw i've fished IMO!!
JMO....the rage line is a little over rated and over priced as well. I guess this is due to their great marketing efforts. Not saying they are bad baits but there are other baits out there just as productive and still economical such as Netbait and Zoom. My favorite SK soft plastics are the perfect plastic line to be honest.
I like the hollow body on the pacas for inserting a rattle.
yeah.... i love strike kings stuff and the rage tail line is great but...
i stopped buying the craws and chunks and have switched to pacas.
its not really so much that i think that the pacas are so much better... but i know for sure that they are no worse and they are cheaper, and in my area- more available.
i only use rage craws now in dark/muddy water because thats the only time that i think there is a clear advantage.
for everyday flipping and pitching and jig trailer use i throw pacas.
I like the Paca on a C rig also because it is a bait that should be worked a little faster to get the full action from those big claws.
Paca for the win
I can't say anything about the Rage tails because I haven't used them.
But I love the Paca baits! As stated above the slightest little twitch gives the claws a very natural look. Slow rolled on the bottom with a ¼ pegged weight texas style will really get the claws moving. Even though they already have a scent I like to get some type of real good craw scent and let them soak in that for a while. My buddy sells 100% ground up crawfish in a bottle. To me the fish just hold onto it longer when I do this.
I also like to fish the paca on vertical structure such as a bridge, use a heavy weight to get the claws flapping on the fall (trying to cause a re-action strike) Keep your reel disengaged and control your line with your thumb so you get a vertical fall. Allot of times they will hit it on the fall. This can be tricky depending on how they hit it. Sometimes they will crush it. Another time you may just feel the bait stop before it should. And another time the fish will suck it in and just swim off with it. Either way quickly engage your reel drop your rod tip for a second and set the hook hard!
***.com has them on sale for $1.99 (I do not work for them in anyway) just thought this was a good price for anyone looking.
Go to youtube.com and check out some of the tank test's they do, this will really give you a feel for what your bait is doing under water.
Good Luck!
Sorry they are no longer on-sale. I must have clicked on an old link.

You are correct. I agree, well sorta. The thing is Im a member on about 5 different fishing sites, and this is the only one that the Rage Baits are mentioned all the time. Same goes for several other baits on this site, all are sponsors here. Thats fine, but to me it turns me off to have something shoved down my throat. Now to be honest I have a few Rage tail products, and Ill continue to try em out. However to date they have not caught one fish for me. The chigger craw and Paca craw do. The Zoom Horny Toad has out fished the Rage Toad. I still think there will be a time or day it will work, just have not found that day yet. In all fairness I have not fished it a lot, but enough.
Great Paca Craw presentation is to get yourself some small hooks (either size 1 or 1/0 Octopus hooks or Sickle hooks), 'nose' hook the back end of it and just let it sit. One of the best finesse presentations you can deploy.
When you Texas rig a paca craw do you like to insert the bullet weigth inside the bait or a regular texas rig?
Standard T-rig.
BTW, Try a pack of Rage Tail Craws sometime. I don't fish Net Baits anymore.
Paca Chunk Sr. On all my jigs. Why stop and switch when it works so well?

That's what General Custer said at Little Bighorn.
Texas rigged weed less with a 1/8 bullet weight and swim it near weedlines.
