I watched a couple videos on the new stutter step, and looked good but I don't want to be sucked into buying it just because it looked great in a video. Has anyone tried it yet, and what do you think about it?
I can answer this one...it really is cool. A buddy just bought one and I tossed it around a bit. Dead simple to walk and it has some hellacious action. I know he's caught several fish on it already. Buy it...you know you want to!
BTW...whereabout you at? I grew up right across the border from Vincennes in Lawrenceville Illinois

Now we know who the Bait Monkey is!!!! Get'em boys.
What's your favorite color of stutter step?
My favorite color is blurple
I'm sure it's just another topwater, honestly. There are probably equally effective alternatives, your life probably won't improve if you buy one.
Doesn't mean I won't buy one though
It's a very unique bait. It nearly walks in place and makes a heck of a lot of commotion while it's doing it.
That said, I've probably had 12-15 strikes and have yet to hook a single fish with it.
It's a very portly bait. First thing I thought when I opened it was it looks like a tiny manatee. I'm not sure why the fish miss it so much, but they sure have for me.
I already have about 50 Topwater Baits that I never use but I will probably buy one anyway. It reminds me of the Mann's Pogo Shad from Pictures.

This is the best description of it. One of the few trebled top waters that would throw into LIGHT cover and be confident that I could both stir up a racket and steer it out while was doing it. Haven't bought one yet and won't until I spend a little more time with the one my buddy has but I liked it. I don't know what the color choices are but his is what I would call bone

I have the same problem with a Spook . I can work it good , even walk it around stumps . The bass just miss it so much that I rarely use a walking bait .Maybe this fall I'll catch some biguns on it . Never say cant .

fixed that for you.

Well you didn't specify.
My experience with topwaters is if I'm having blow-ups and not hook-ups the fish aren't that big - good-sized bass usually inhale a frog or spook if they want it - of course as in all fishing this isn't always so.

Yep, I bought one. My total for a TW order was $47 with shipping, so after I added the stutter step I got free shipping, so the total was $53. Feels like I got it for $6
I ordered one on eBay this week and it arrived today. My first though: this thing is huge! This will be fun experimenting with though. I went with the AYU color.
I haven't heard of this one. Who makes it?

I ordered Ayu as well, comes in on Tuesday. Looking forward to throwing it at Toledo in a few weeks

Inspired by this thread, I included one in my TW order today. Can't wait to try it out.

I missed some bass on Spooks. Did much better with the KVD Sexy Dawg though. Maybe because of the hooks. Still miss some though. But not nearly as many.

Wow, sure is... I don't see this being a numbers bait by any means looking at the size of this thing.
The finish isn't impressive, but I do like how it has quality hooks on it.
Seems like a slightly gimmicky super spook alternative, can't wait to try it out...

lol i'm not to sure @Master Bait'r is also pretty suspicious posting all those trick darters all the time
I highly doubt this thing will be talked about as much as the whopper plopper. So burnt out on the WP threads. I'm glad to see something else being talked about.
Il buy one when a smaller size comes out

I have never heard of the stutter step til on here. It has a been quite some time since I have been active on here though. I have seen quite a lot of whopper plopper post in the past few days. Its very reminiscent of the 10 daily posts about keitech like a year ago. Keitech were far from a new thing back then and neither are whopper ploppers now. Its gets old quickly and even more so when it's already old to you by the time it becomes popular. I have been throwing the big ploppers for a few years now and same with keitechs but never heard of the stutter step. I have been to deep into the big swimbaits I guess.
Great action, but I believe it is simply too big and bulky. The northern folks may find it works well for muskies. If they can make a smaller version without ruining the action, it may be game on.
I picked up a couple for me and a buddy and got big hits in the morning then later tossing it around stumps.....being able to rotate it 180degrees and only, over it a couple inches is great.....
They just came out with a limited 4" version created by a 3D printer. Unfortunately it's twice the price

I noticed that on tw, but like you mentioned it's twice then price because they had to 3d print it. I think I'll wait on the four inch model till the price comes down in a few months when they start mass manufacturing it. I would bet they will put the regular four inch model on the market for I-cast this summer.
