I recently made a trip out to Pymatuning Lake in Ohio and the bass were on fire! Caught 7 bass and lost a few in a about an hour and a half of fishing. I put together this video while out there to help some new folks catch more fish. It really was a blast! What are some of your favorite techniques for shallow water?
Nice job on the video. I'd attempt making one, but if I didn't end up breaking the camera lense I might scare off the few fans I have.
There are three topwater baits that I love to use during the summer. A buzz bait, a frog and of course a spook. Not that I don't use chuggers, poppers and warblers, I do. The first three are my confidence baits. As for soft plastic baits in the shallows, I also have three favorites. A Fluke, a Senko and a tube. I always have the Spook, Senko and a tube tied on one of the rods on my deck whether I'm fishing shallow or not.
I like pitching poppers into lil pads...and frogs, but i absolutely l love rigging a ragetail anaconda weightless and fishing it like a snake across the surface in any lakes were there are watersnakes
Buzzbait and a bladed jig
Great Video!!!
Skitter pop's, zara spooks, jitterbugs, and buzzbaits.
Shallow water - white or watermelon candy Zoom Trick Worm rigged weed-less and weightless on a 4/0 Gamakatsu G-lock hook
Top water - Smithwick Devil's Horse, any pattern as long as it has some white/light color on the bottom

I haven't fished a spook before, but sounds like I need to try it! Do you rig the Fluke Weightless, and do you texas rig the Senko? Thanks for watching!

I used to fish poppers all the time, but got away from it recently. Definitely never tried the rage tail, thanks for the reply!
Poppers for sure. I've been using the SK Spittin Kings lately.Sexy Dawgs in Bluegill, Buzz baits and recently the rage shad!. Great change of pace lure.
Nice vid by the way, I subscribed to the channel!

I will have to check a few of those out! I have a tendency to find something that works and stick with it, so I don't experiment as much as I should! Thanks for the subscribe really appreciate the support!
If you are getting short strikes on your buzz, add some soft plastic trailer to the hook instead of a trailer hook. I've been putting a 1/2 oz black buzzbait with a black/purple trailer most of the season and had more bass hit that combo than anything else I've thrown, save maybe live crawlers. It does add weight to it, counteracting your reeling before lure hits the water, but really helped me a lot....was a tip I remembered reading on here after I had a short strike on opening weekend and landed my season best LMB.....20".
I love using soft plastic craws like buzzbaits!
Great video WW. I really enjoyed it.

I will definitely have to try that! Thanks for the tip!

Haha! However, that is one expensive buzz bait, but I guess it better be if it makes you keep nitroglycerin in your pocket!
I'd manually close the bail on that spinning rig. Just sayin'. Nice video.
..whichever topwater is working at the time.. thats my favorite
SuperSpook blue/white on windy points=FUN !!

I got that from a few people! I didn't even realize I was doing it, but I am going to try to break that habit! Thanks for watching!

How deep of water do you usually prefer when fishing the SuperSpook, and why do you prefer it to be windy? Usually, I like calmer days when top water fishing.
Waters i fish has clarity mostly between 2-3'. Depth just depends on location but most fish are less than 10' unless i see schoolers blowing up on main lake. Regarding wind my catch rate is way better when there's a little rip on water,it makes it harder for fish to get a good look at bait so they seem to be more willing to take it. If dead calm im usually going to throw a weightless fluke or Pop'R

Makes sense! I am going to give the SuperSpook a try, lots of people mentioned that one!
Nice video.
My favorites are LC sammy or spook type baits or frogs. Those are about the only two topwaters I throw.
Frogs,Toads, and Sexy Dawg Jrs in Bluegill are my three confidence topwaters.
Frog, Spooks and a 20 yr old Pop R ( I love that little thing)

i have a hollow body frog ive been trying but cant seem to get anything with it, my technique could be off, but some good info here, ill try a buzzbait next and see how my luck is with those

I have tried a few different frogs and I haven't had much luck with them either. A lot of people on here seem to really like them, but maybe it is just the lakes I fish. Buzzbait definitely works well though. Make sure to get the 1/8oz one shown in the video. More strikes and will stay on top of the water with less cranking so you can speed it up and slow it down depending on how the bass want it.

With the input of many on here, I picked up some spooks along with some flukes this weekend! Looking forward to the next trip!
