Best hollow body frog? 2024

fishing user avatarThomas Olson reply :

I am curious as to everyone thoughts on the best topwater frog. I usually fish lily pads and I tend to fish spro frogs since it’s a bit heavier. I prefer frogs about 1/2 oz to 3/4 oz. What’s your thoughts on the best frog in your opinion?

Thanks,

Thomas

fishing user avatarBassWhole! reply :

Booyah!

fishing user avatarCroakHunter reply :

Booyah, Jackall, spro

fishing user avatarLargies4Life reply :

Spro is for sure my go to, but I would also look at LiveTarget which doesn't get much love, but I've had great success using them!

fishing user avatarjbrew73 reply :

I had trouble with spro’s taking on to much water and switched to booyah and have been very pleased so far.

fishing user avatarHarold Scoggins reply :

There's a lot of good hollow bodied frogs on the market. My favorite for drawing those hawgs up from under those mats is the 1 oz Spro King Daddy.

fishing user avatarHeartland reply :

I have been using the Jackall Iobee for a very long time.  I do use the smaller Spro occasionally as well.

fishing user avatarBoatSquirrel reply :

BOOYAH again!

fishing user avatarGlenn reply :

Well, check out the "toads" I caught on frogs in this video, and then you'll know why they're my favorite:

fishing user avatarfrogflogger reply :

With an inventory of over 200 frogs left over from guiding in the glades - I could go on and on about the effectiveness of certain frogs over others. I have used most that are on the market and continue to try new ones.

Some days smaller is better and some days popping frogs out perform traditional. The only certainty in my frog fishing is if it is breezy/windy I have a furbit tied on.

fishing user avatarbowhunter63 reply :

Bobbys perfect frog.

fishing user avatarrosshilk reply :

Phat frog from snagproof and spittin bully wa from river to sea. Those two frogs are the most effective for me. They walk with ease and are hardy frogs. I can't stand spro frogs filing up with water all of the time. Go with some phat frogs and keep it simple black and white.

fishing user avatarMDbassin reply :

Booyah pad crasher is hands down my favorite. Live target is my second. I've had nothing but problems with spro frogs I cant even get them all the way back to the kayak without them filling with water

fishing user avatarFCPhil reply :

You probably didn't want to hear this but...Teckel Sprinker Frog!

The booyah has worked well for me for a walking frog, but I have had the most success on the Sprinker frog and an excellent hookup ratio.

I'm a sucker for the Castaic frog. Inexpensive and produces.

Live Target

fishing user avatarJanderson45 reply :

Livetarget is my standby, funny because I think most of their lures are over priced and over rated but their frogs are spot on.  Great hook up ratio and the material that the frog is made out of is about perfect, soft enough to collapse easily for good hook ups, but doesn’t tear easily at all.  They don’t fill up with water and cast like a bullet.

Runner up would be the river2sea bully wa or spittin wa if I want a popping frog.

Haven't used that specific Scum Frog, but I love the Pro Series. GREAT hook-up ratio, and comes with an internal rattle.

Like others said, Booyah and Live Target are also good frogs.

The Jackall Kaera is a great little frog. Smaller profile but still 1/2oz so it staill casts easily.

Second the Jackall Kaera, also the bigger Jackall gavacho popping frog.

fishing user avatarsuperkamikazee reply :

Booyah poppin pad crasher. I have a hard time walking a frog sitting in my kayak, so pop and pause it is for me with good results. Best frog has been the Sprinker, easy to use, everything smashes it and gets hooked up.

fishing user avatarChrisD46 reply :

*What ever Ish Monroe is using today !!  ... All kidding aside , I like the Booyah Pad Crashers and Pop'n Pad Crashers - they are fairly durable and soft enough to collapse down on a bite to get a good hook set (decent hook quality too) . Plus I'm a fan of the brown color Jason Christie got introduced - That's an all - around confidence color frog for me now ... Until I find the Booyah frogs are have a weakness - I'm better off learning  how to use a frog more effectively instead of searching for other frog brands .

fishing user avatarthe reel ess reply :

I got a bunch of frogs. Booyah is always tied on.

Booyah and Spro been my favorite so far.

fishing user avatartcbass reply :

I only use homemade Whopper Frogs now but I basically field tested most of the major frogs and found Booyah Pad Crashers to be the best.

Luckily they are also one of the cheapest.

fishing user avatarJunger reply :

I'm trying the jump frog this year. But my favorite right now is the Spro Bronze Eye popping frog.

I throw a frog a lot because of all the lily pads where I fish. I either throw a Booyah or Spro
