I saw that today as well. It is part of their "First Cast" sale.
In store sale. Last years model. While supplies last.
fantastic deal on a terrific reel.
Picked one up today. You can't beat the deal.
Yep, I got the last one at my Gander Mtn. Awesome reel, incredible deal. Cant wait to get her out on the water.
Well that explains the 4 or 5 NIB I have seen for sale for $150- $160ish
I hope they have lefties local cuz I wouldnt mind tryin one for pitchin. If I hate it I can always sell it for what I paid no prob
just talked to someone at the local GM and they dont even carry lefty premiers in the company.
geez man they are killing me in Sherman Texas they had them as well. I bought 2. I have one on crucial and another on a IMX. Now my other combos feel like broom handles.

That's not true, they do exist. On that note, if anyone has a left-handed premier they want to sell me, please let me know.
FYI, I picked one up as well. One thing I noticed is that it only has 6 bearings and when I googled this model, this was the model released in 2007 (see tackletour review). The new model has 9 bearings. With that being said, this reel is extremely light. It's lighter than my Curado and much lighter than a Revo S. I am quite happy with the purchase.

Abu made them in lefties I know, but according to the manager whom I know pretty well. He said he didnt see any lefties in his database company wide. He also said he didnt remember ever seeing one or selling one.
Am I remembering correctly that the 1st generation Premiers had a pretty light drag max?
Got one yesterday, tough to come of that kind of money even when they are on sale! Alot different than forking out 65 dollars for my last 4600 (that was about a decade ago)
They had STX's for $129 as well. I bought every STX they had (except the display reel) and 3 more Premiers. I'm good for a while.
Man I hate living in the frozen boondocks sometimes.
I have one now, but this is my first Revo reel. How good is the casting controls on this thing? I have a Curado, which has the best casting control I have ever used so, kind of curious what to expect out of the Abu.
I have owned 09 Premier and Curado E5 and E7 for a year and I personally like the brake system on the Curado better.Premier is extremely touchy, out cast Curados in distance, but I like the feel of the Curados better. You have greater adjustment options on the Premier.I prefer the simple, reliable brakes of the Curado.I would buy either @a good price.
Just called all of the gander mountains within about 2 hrs of me and they are sold out! Wish I would have seen this earlier.
Hey guys,
I took my Premire (I got from Gander Mtn. for $129) to Wayne Knabe (great fishing reel repairman) out in Powahatan, VA for him to look it over. He said there was no oil/grease on the bearings of these reels. I was not surprised considering this is at least a year old reel. But, for all of you that picked up these reels, I would take them apart and grease/oil them before up coming season. My two cents.
I just picked up the last four my Gander had. And each box had a small bottle of oil in it. I usually use "Hot Sauce", is it better to use the Abu oil?

I don't like Hot Sauce or the Abu Silicote oil, but without flushing them, I'd stick to the Abu oil included. Chances are, you won't need to oil them for a while anyway.
There's better out there, but you don't realize full benefit without flushing the bearings.

@Flukeman, I posted a thread about 2 months about reel oils and it was pretty split. I use "Hot Sauce," and just had my reels taken apart and cleaned for the upcoming year. The guy that did it for me said the my reels looked fine! But, the jury was split between likes and dislikes of Hot Sauce, might want to try and find that thread.
Thanks guys. John good seeing you on Sunday, good luck with the new rod!
Awesome deal. Too bad there is no Gander Mountain where I am. :'(
