X2

If it was for $4823, I would drop everything and go pick it up right away.

fishing user avatar32251 reply :

If your waiting for a reply.....it's gone.

fishing user avatarWayne P. reply :

The aid is still on the craigslist site. The link still works.

I agree it must be a listing error for the asking price and a digit is missing.

fishing user avatarjimmieO reply :

NOT A MISPRINT! Its a phony ad. I would almost guarantee that. I put my boat on ebay about 8 months ago listed at 10K, and someone on this site sent me a pm saying that they were going to make an offer as they had seen it in orlando's craigslist. I went to check it out and sure enough, there was my boat...exactly, my pictures, my description, my everything, except contact info....the price listed was 4K. I replied to the ad just to see what they would say...and the guy actually wrote me back saying he was a soldier and just needed to sell his boat before deployment....

DO A GOOGLE SEARCH AND I WOULD BET YOU WILL SEE THAT SAME BOAT FOR SALE ON CRAIGSLISTS ALL OVER THE COUNTRY...SOME HAVE BEEN FLAGGED FOR REMOVAL

fishing user avatarfishizzle reply :

I think its a scam

When I googled the hull ID it somes up on San Fran. and Los Ang. craigslist and has been flagged for removal.

Too bad

fishing user avatarfishizzle reply :

and tampa and Long island and New york and Canada

This boat must travel the world for all to view and DROOL!!!

fishing user avatarOlebiker reply :

This guy usually claims to be in the military and getting deployed somewhere.

fishing user avatarfishizzle reply :

this is the response I got

Can someone translate it for me????

She will make a private auction for me on Ebay...(yeah)what????

Hi,

The Champion is still for sale.It is in perfect shape. It has no scratches, dents and it was never

involved in an accident or something like that.. The title is clear

and on my name.I am now making room for my new 29' Wellcraft center console boat and this one must go.

.   My final price is 4,800$. I already have tons of emails so I hope you understand

that I need to sort them out.I will take in consideration only those buyers who are

really interested in buying the boat, to be sure that I don't waste my time with

endless discussions. This way, I shall be assured of the serious intentions.

Thank you.

Laura Becks

P.S.If you are decided to buy it,I will make a private auction just for you on eBay so

you can purchase it there. That way you will receive assistance for the purchase, paperwork,

title transfer and an extended warranty. They also are guaranteeing purchases up to 50.000 so we

will both be protected

fishing user avatarBrianinMD reply :

Just for the fun of it I googled the name given in the response email. Once of the links is for a warning to be careful of the E30 M3 scam....

Apparently "she" sents up Ebay but turns out to be a faked Ebay lookalike, no telling how many virus adware/malware is on the faked sight, let along the phishing scheme aspect.....

fishing user avatardrmnbig reply :

Jimmie0, I'm guessing yours was the ProCraft with I believe a 150 on it.  If so, I saw it running through all the Va craigslist areas also.  Nice boat too!

fishing user avatarKevO reply :

It's got to be a fake, they have the same ad posted on the Nashville TN craiglist too.

fishing user avatarBass Dude reply :

Craigslist is full of scammers.  I was trying to sell some stuff on there and I got someone trying to do the money order scam.

fishing user avatarjack1 reply :

Craigslist sales are meant for face to face transactions/pickups. I believe the website even stated this. Never give out personal information. I sell quite a bit on this site and I always get bogus emails requesting for my products. Those emails stand out with some bogus story to it, so it gets dumped.  If they even mention anything else than a face to face transaction...ignore it, it's a junk mail.

I once got a buyer named Clark Kent from Smallville that wanted to trade his red Dodge pickup for mine...lol!

The buyers that aren't scams...most of the time you'll know when you read their email.

fishing user avatarJim Grouch reply :

Its a scam. I use craigslist alot and can tell them apart. One thing to look for is the title of any ad before you click on it....next to the title will have the (city) in parenthesis. If it doesn't have the city in your general area then that is the number one clue. If the seller responds that it can be shipped to you, that's another. Unless you can actually go and physically meet with the person and they have the title in hand then don't bother. If a deal is too good to be true then there is a reason. At the top right of the ad you can flag it for removal and I do it quite often when I see these. Also there is more info at the very top of the screen of the ad that states: Avoid scams and fraud by dealing locally! Beware any deal involving Western Union, Moneygram, wire transfer, cashier check, money order, shipping, escrow, or any promise of transaction protection/certification/guarantee. You can click the info tab to better understand it.

fishing user avatarGatorbassman reply :

It's a scam. If you do a google search for the very first line. (This Champion boat has been my baby since new.) You will also see it used to be listed in Alaska.

I also found it in New Haven, New York, Burlington, Delaware, Chattanooga, Tampa, Dayton, Los Angeles, Tucson and the list goes on and on.

fishing user avatarStingray23 reply :

I emailed the person and got a response. She said she will only answer questions for interested people since she has recieved tons of inquiries and that she would go through ebay so both parties will be protected.

fishing user avatarJim Grouch reply :

Still a scam...If its on craigslist and local, then why can't you go and take a look at it? Also, I had my ebay password stolen. The good news was ebay caught it and notified me before anything potentially bad happened. Here's how it happened and what could've came out of it. I recieved an "authentic looking" email from ebay and said "an item you have been watching is about to expire, please login to view the item". So I clicked the link on the email and typed in my password. Bam, thats how they got it and I didnt suspect anything at all until the real ebay emailed me the next day that they thought my password was compromised. Im usually really good about spotting scams, but I have to admit...I really got taken that time. So what they then do is post an auction with a picture of a supposed item, with a 99-100% feedback rating...Cuz it was stolen like mine was. Anyways...about that particular boat...Craigslist is meant to be for local sales...If this is truely local...then why is the seller not letting you see it in person? Cuz it doesn't even exist.

fishing user avatarsmallie.huntin reply :

Definitely a scam.  Also there is a 1994 Astro Bass boat that has been getting posted for the last couple of months off and on.  I sent them an email a few months back and got a response saying he was getting deployed and that he would ship the boat to me and if I didn't like it he would refund me in full.  I was sketched out by the whole thing.

fishing user avatarjimmieO reply :

if it sounds too good to be true......

fishing user avatarBassnajr reply :

My buddy and I got our Procraft on Craigslist out of Maine 2001 21' Procraft with a 2004 Johnson 175 hp motor. I was VERY skeptical....

But after many e-mails and phone calls, and verifying who these people were with the local police, the deal got done. I was still a little nervous driving the six hours still thinking we were gonna get ripped off, but it worked out.

I am glad you were careful and did your homework!!!

fishing user avatarHPBB reply :

scam. It came up On Pittsburghs CL and I yelled scam as soon as I saw it. At least it wasn't the ranger this time

fishing user avatarStingray23 reply :

The person wrote back again and said the boat is located in Las Vegas at her brother in laws house. Its up on ebay too

fishing user avatarNitroMan reply :

Well hell I'm gonna jump all over this buy and then sue then for false advertisment!!! ;)

fishing user avatarWay2slow reply :

Email them back and tell them that will be great, you've got a business trip next week and will be in Vegas several days. You will be in your truck so you can have the cash and pick it up there.

Make them keep coming up with the lies.

fishing user avatarfishizzle reply :

I asked to see the Bass boat this weekend and buy it and heres what the reply was

Hi again,

The car is stored at a shipping company in Las Vegas, Nevada. I took the car to them to be able to ship it to a potential buyer whilst I'm out of town. My brother in law works there, and he promised me that it will cost me nothing to ship it in the US. I also have the car  listed on eBay View item and that lets me use their secured system. I'm very busy with my job and I'm sorry I can't meet you in person. According to eBay you have 5 days from the time you receive the car to inspect it and decide if you want to keep it or not.

So if you really want it press Buy it now on eBay on eBay and after complete the  payment  let me to know your full name and full shipping address to send my car . After you get the car you have 5 days to test and if you decide to keep it eBay will release money to me if NOT they will refund your money and the shipping company will take the car back on my expense and keep it until I find a new buyer.

Regards Laura

looks like I'm gonna own a car instead of a boat

fishing user avatarWay2slow reply :

Sure would be nice if you could turn this over to the internet cops and have them get the scammer but I tried that once and they really didn't care.  Said it was too difficult to track the actual person down and a lot of times they would be from out of the country.

That was about two years ago, maybe they've gotten better at it now.
