Will this freeze dry foods?

Answer: No it only dehydrates

Does it dry herbs? Does food maintain its nutritional valu?

Answer: Yes. It can be used to dry herbs. It is almost same with the dried herbs sold in grocery.

Answer: I was VERY DISAPPOINTED with this dehydrator. It does not WORK! I have tried EVERYTHING, if the company is reading this, give me a working dehydrator or give me my money back.

How many pounds of meat can you dehydrate at one time?

Answer: I’d say no more than 2 but depends on how thick you sit the meat too. I made 1.5 pounds in 8-10 hours

What size silicone sheets does it use?

Answer: The sheets have to be cut to fit but be sure to get sheets that are larger than 12 inches by 10 inches

Does this dehydrator has a recipe that could tell us how to dehydrate the food? such as time and temperature

Answer: No but you can find recipes online or in any dehydrating book available that would work with this dehydrator.

Answer: Yes.the recipe had been printed on the user manual

Can you flip the drying racks upside down to get taller or is it only one way

Answer: The racks only go together one way. They are designed for a single layer of what ever you put there. If you have something that you want to dehydrate that is thicker than these racks allow it would be best to dry it in the oven or a toaster oven on low for a looong time. This dryer does a very good job with jerky, vegetables, and fruits.

Answer: The racks are reversible; flip for more or less height between trays; works well and easy to switch.

Answer: Yes, when flipped they stacked taller giving more room for taller items.

Can I use this to dry resin products

Answer: Probably. But I don’t know that it will dry any faster than on their own. It has some heat and air flow if that is what you are looking for.

Answer: Kindly be advised that the trays of this Food Dehydrator Machine are dishwasher safe.

Why won’t it work for us? We have tried recipes for oranges and beef jerky and it never gets anything dehydrated.

Answer: You may have to add more time for more dehydration. The food may have more moisture and the humidity of you area may be different than the average. The time needed is just an average time, but I find that I generally need to add more time than that stated by as much as 12 hours more.. After awhile you will know the time needed for complete dehydration. Just keep adding time until it is dehydrated.

Can you buy extra trays??

Answer: I saw them but didn't purchase them. One thing you should know about this machine is it does not dry evenly. You must rotate that trays

Answer: I do not know if Amazon sells extra trays by itself but I would buy extra ones. It shouldn't be a problem using extra ones at the same time.

. I can't get it to operate for me. It won't heat up, only gets warm. I can not get it high enough .

Answer: It doesn’t go past 158 degrees. It’s a dehydrator not a oven. I made jerky in 8 hours and came out perfect.

Answer: probably defective then. send it back if you can.

This machine looks decent for starters. I Purchased This machine to start dehydrating food for a food supply for disasters. I had purchased the food to dehydrate. On Amazon it said that the racks were dishwasher safe but in the actual brochure it said to only wipe them with water. Now, I’m thinking “ if I make beef jerky, there’s no way just water is going to wipe off those racks”. I’m also thinking that “ I’m not going to spend time on that. I want this to be much easier”!. So I stuck them in the dishwasher before I used them. (I would send them back if they melted). Although they did just fine in the dishwasher the racks are plastic, so not sure how they will do withactual food, like beef jerky dried on them.
I found the instructions on how to actually use that this machine difficult to figure out. (You have to press 2 places at the same time to start- the on button and the lit up box that says ‘Off’. (It has no button so that was confusing, just push that off spot at the same time as poshing the little round on icon. ). The biggest drawback for me and I mean I’m still angry, is that they could have included some kind of a little manual on how to dehydrate food, some dehydrate cooking times and temps for different foods and vegetables and fruits and so forth. Absolutely nothing included about that. So here it is almost a week and a half after I got this machine and I still haven’t used it because I haven’t had time to go try to figure out What time and temp to set it to to dehydrate anything.

It is a bit smaller in person than it seems. Although, there is still plenty of room for sliced fruits, veggies, or meat.
