Questions about MagicVac Vacuum Sealer Machine Maxima2 Commercial Double Piston Pump 12" Smart Sealing Bar Roll Storage Holder and Cutter Locking Lid with Look-In Window Includes Starter Kit MADE IN ITALY
Q:
What is the suction Kpa rating
Answer: MagicVac specs: Nominal pump flow rate: 18 l/min, Vacuum Pump Value: 61 cm/Hg -0,82 bar / -11.9 PSI
Q:
What's the warranty?
Answer: Yes our Magic Vac warranty is one year. In addition we stand behind all our vacuum sealers. if there is an issue we get it fixed. Located in Kansas City area we are here to support our customers. Thanks!
Answer: One Year
Q:
What is the best rating some machine say 75 to 85 Kpa.
Answer: Yes, we are one of the few Brands that will actually print our vacuum levels and pressure. Our pump Max Vacuum is indicated in the product manual. It is -0,82 Bar which is equivalent to -82 Kps, This level of vacuum is why we can state that using our vacuum products will increase food life up to 5X longer. Performance of MagicVac Maxima 2 pump has been measured both in vacuum bags and using canisters. Thanks!
Q:
With this work with Mylar storage bags?
Answer: Unlikely, if you're trying to seal mylar bags without some sort of modification. Like other vacuum sealers, this requires a textured material providing channels through which air flow. There are probably techniques you can use though to work around this limitation - check the search engines and Youtube.
Q:
How long is recommended to wait between seals? Website says back to back sealing but there’s usually still a wait time to avoid overheating.
Answer: I was able to use the seal only button four times in a row as fast as i could move the bag, lock it, and seal with no wait time in between. It did start to feel hot and smell like hot plastic but it did not force a delay.
Answer: The instructions and a separate sheet that came with the sealer state two minutes between complete cycles. In practice it takes me about that amount of time to setup the next package to be sealed. I don't have many times I'm sealing more than 5-10 packs at a time and if I do take less time it hasn't been a problem.
Answer: Our Magic Vac vacuum sealer is design for repetitive sealing, meaning back to back sealing. Our tests include 100 back to back seals. The seal bar design is different than most sealers and designed to displace the heat thus making a constant seal. Thanks!
Q:
Can this be used to seal Mylar storage bags?
Q:
which power volteg 120v or 220v
Q:
Can you use the Avid Armor bags with this unit and will it seal as good as the magic vac bags??
Q:
Does this vac system work like foodsaver vac systems?
Answer: Yes. Also as noted in my review Food Saver Jar sealers work with the Maxima2. Just use the tubing that comes with the Maxima2.
Answer: Yes very similar, with a few improved features. Plus this unit is made in Italy vs China. Thanks
Q:
How wide is the seal
Answer: 12.4 inches or 315mm
Q:
Do you have to use their bags or can you use other brands?
Answer: The Maxima 2 will vac and seal other brands of vacuum bags with channels or embossing. My suggestion is to try the MagicVac bags and rolls. They are awesome! Thanks!
Answer: You can use other bags but they might not fit into the compartment which makes it tricky for cutting.
Q:
I'd like to use this unit in a small business. sealing 1 to 200 bags per day. Would this machine be up to that task?
Q:
Cuáles el tamaño de bolsa más grande q esta máquina puede empacar ?
Answer: The maximum width is a 12" bag or roll. Our MagicVac Maxima 2 will handle the gallon bag which is 12x16" or a lengthy tube made from a 12" roll with no problems. Thanks
Q:
Can you get car adapter for this unit? Need to vacuum while hunting and need a really wide seal. Skinny ones pop to easy
Answer: The plug is hardwired into the unit - I don't see a way to exchange it for or plug into a a 12V or other adapter.
Q:
Why is the price cheaper on your website?
Answer: Good catch! Yes the new sale price on Amazon starts today! Thanks!
Product reviews of MagicVac Vacuum Sealer Machine Maxima2 Commercial Double Piston Pump 12" Smart Sealing Bar Roll Storage Holder and Cutter Locking Lid with Look-In Window Includes Starter Kit MADE IN ITALY
Terry : Expensive, But Great Performance
This sealer is equipped with more features than your standard vacuum sealer and it's definitely built for heavy use applications. Even with the extra controls, it’s user-friendly and was easy to figure out right out of the box. I was concerned that it may be too big to handle or store easily, but it stores upright so that it doesn’t take up too much space. It comes with a roll of vacuum bags and you can cut your own size with the built-in cutter, which is extra convenient. Also, the roll of bags and the power cord are stored inside the unit, which saves even more space. You can adjust the humidity level depending on what it is that you’re sealing. The vacuum is quick, powerful, and not too loud. It's great for large dishes that you won't eat all at once such as lasagna. Freeze the leftovers and they're just as good as freshly made when you're ready for them.
ReviewerX : Works Well
I waited to review this - I think unboxing reviews for something like this are not very useful for the average custommer who just wants to know about the quirks and if it is still working as well down the line. At least that is what I find most helpful.
FIVE months in and I'm still really pleased with this unit. I also have a FoodSaver, a budget model and in all ways this is a far superior product.
As far as quirks, it does have a issue with the lid - you have to lift the lock up as you close it or it won't engage properly. The manual alssssssssso maes it sound like it you use their special bags, the sealer will do everything for you once you engage the lock. If that is the case, I fail to see how to get that to engage. I've tried all sorts of different positions and alignments, but I can't figure it out if it is supposed to take over after closing and locking the lid, so I'm using whatever bags I want and not their expensive special ones.
I especially appreciate that I can seal more than one bag in a row - with my FoodSaver I had to wait 20 seconds between bags or it would overheat.
The removable catch tray is nice - it pops off easy and allows you to wash it without hassle.
It is a big unit and heavy - I found a place in my extra storage cabinet in the kitchen that allows me to just leave it where it is to use it so I don't have to worry about moving it every time I need it.
And it is nice that it has the extra parts for doing containers - and that all is stored in the underside, neat and tidy. Reasonable length power cable too.
All-in-all I think this is a good, powerful sealer that I use all the time for both food and waterproofing camping items. I'm glad to have gotten a chance to try it out via Vine. I hope this review was useful for you. Thank you for reading it.
Billye : Like it so far.
It is hard to adjust the correct placement of the bag at first. The instructions could be a little clearer. The seal on the custom size bags don't completely seal each time even if you have waited the correct amount of time.
Oculus Sinister : Maxima2 worth the cost? Yes in my opinion.
I've been vacuum sealing for decades and recognize the evolution represented by this machine.
As others have given thorough reviews, I thought I'd share some of why I chose this and what hasn't been mentioned as of yet.
First the unit has 3 lid positions that are accessed by the chromed plastic levers on both sides of the unit.
Unlocked, Storage and locked power on ready to seal. Unlocked allows the lid to open for cutting a bag and or placing a bag to seal.
The next is storage position which I think may be the reason one reviewer had a unsuccessful experience. What the video from AvidArmor and Magic Vac show is when you close the lid to seal you need to rotate the chrome handles up and then rotate all the way forward.
The problem is you can close the lid and rotate forward to 'on' which keeps the lid in the storage position (which is meant to lock the lid for storage without compressing the seal and keep from falling open when stored vertically.) Unless you rotate up first then forward you won't get a vacuum or seal.
I'm speaking from experience. The first time I used my sealer I placed the bag and rotated the handles forward without rotating them up first, and the bag wouldn't seal as the lid was in storage position.
Simply rotating them up and then forward set the lid in the locked and on position and worked as expected.
Next the instructions had a extra sheet stating that you should move both handles with both hands. In other words don't operate the lid handles with one hand.
The next extra sheet and the manual show there is a 2 minute wait between completed vacuum and seal cycles.
Now I don't pack large amounts of meat where speed and time are perhaps more important to some users. So two minutes is not a concern for me and indeed when I timed my normal routine it was right at 2 minutes. The machine has a thermal cut out that will trip automatically should the device become too hot. It will reset to normal after it cools down. I've not come close to hot with normal use.
Someone mentioned the instructions were in Italian, they are also in English Spanish French and German. Each language has its own section in the manual. The box it arrives in has both Italian and English describing the sealer.
As mentioned above there are helpful videos from both Avid Armor and Magic Vac located on both websites and conveniently this Amazon sales page has both above.
The included hose for accessories worked great with my mason jar sealer and canister from my old sealer. However the reverse will not work as the old hose that came with the original accessories has a shorter stem than the Maxima2. Again the new hose works great with the old and new accessories. I've included a picture showing the difference.
The pump speed and seal time both default automatically to normal "Turbo" pump speed and maximum seal time, after each cycle. You have the option to choose lower pump speed for delicate and shorter seal time for dry contents. The default actually works well as those settings are what I'd use nearly every time anyway.
The lighted view port into the sealing tray is quite helpful when insuring the bag is positioned correctly. A photo showing that is included.
The 5 sample pre-made quart bags and included roll of larger bag material are very well made and like every other part is made in Italy with each bag having a strip of white to write contents and date. I've purchased generic bags and name brand bags and these is the first I've encountered with lot numbers and manufacturing date printed on each bag and roll.
One side of the bag is clear with the area to write on, the other has the most defined ridges/ air removal channels I've seen. The channels appear molded, not embossed. The bags are unique in feel also. Of course I've not tried every permutation of bag design available, however these are so impressive, I purchased the quart and gallon size bags after trying them. More expensive than generic and less than other brand name bags.
The novelty of a vacuum sealer not made in China was also part of my decision. The units build quality and function (along with the fact that Magic Vac makes every part in their factory in Italy) made the choice easier.
The final part of my decision was communication with the seller Avid Armor. Nina who answered my emails politely and as importantly quickly. Its a lot of money for me and I was comfortable knowing they take care of customers.
I'll add to this review if anything changes or strikes me as interesting.
I payed for everything. I'm not a professional reviewer and seeing the dearth of reviews wanted to share my experience.
If this was helpful please note that below. Thanks ????
D. Woodruff : Flat-Out Amazing
We buy meat in bulk in our house, so we do a ton of vacuum sealing. The Maxima2 is a monumental upgrade from the everyday FoodSaver that we were using. A lot of the things that this does better may seem like only minor upgrades, but the sum of those upgrades add up quickly.
1. The seal is extra thick. I haven't had a leak through the seal that this produces once.
2. It manages to seal even if a little moisture gets between the heating elements.
3. Built in storage for rolls, and the cutter works well. I had the same feature in my FoodSaver, but it often struggles to cut bags.
4. Pulse vacuuming. You can control how much comes out before sealing. This is super handy with ultra-moist foods.
5. Everything that touches food is dishwasher safe!!
Now, there is a trade-off. This thing is huge. Consider how you'll store it. But if you have the space, this thing is nothing short of awsesome.

R. Sebring : Awkwardly clunky and oversized for what it does.
I got this to replace a smaller $40 vacuum sealer that we got at a big box store and that did not survive it's 5th trip from the countertop to the floor thanks to inquisitive children wanting to 'help'. I though I'd like the larger size and more robust construction, but...
What we like:
- This thing sucks. Well, in a good way. It really pulls out the air from even the cheapo bags we still occasionally get from the big box bonanza store. Sous vide cooking is wonderfully easy using this, but the old cheap model, despite not being quite as efficient at removing 100% of the air, still led us to tender flavorful steaks and pork chops.
- Easy operation. Set up bag ends, press down lid, hold lightly... done! Still, that's like nearly every other unit I've seen.
- A lot of options. We didn't use many of them, but it comes with a plethora of options for partial suction, partial pressures, etc...
What we found lacking:
- Too big. It's a sealer, and it takes up as much space as a toaster oven. This thing is HUGE! Since we only sous vide and/or buy groceries in bulk about twice a month, this lives in the cabinets above the fridge and has to be dragged down every time we use it. Much too big to leave on the countertop unless you have too much counterspace, which as any cook knows, is never, ever the case.
- Heavy. A larger unit demands more weight, but still this thing is dense.
- Noisy with an annoying high pitched hum at the end. It's odd, but after the normal vacuuming (which is as loud as a basic unit if not moreso) there's a high pitched squeal from inside the vacuum housing, almost as if a teensy tiny bit of air is escaping. Think tightly pinched balloon neck very slightly opened. It's just loud enough to be noticeable (and annoying)
Overall, we like the unit, but for the size, weight, and cost, it doesn't outshine the cheapo version we had prior which was $150 less expensive and much more portable (for better or worse)
Geoff : Best Vacuum Sealer I've Owned
I have had a classic 'vaucseal' for a very long time and I have put it through its paces. I didn't realize how overdue I was for a replacement until I gave the MagicVac Maxima2 Vacuum Sealer a go. This is a prosumer level sealer which does an amazing job. The sealer comes with a roll of bags and a handful of loose bags which have been pre-sealed on one side. It took a few tries to figure out the sweet spot for this machine, it's sensitive to getting the lid locked down correctly. Once you hit that sweet spot, it does a far better job than my old sealer ever did. MagicVac has their own proprietary bags, which are top quality, but the machine can use third party sealer bags. Top notch quality in a product that looks and feels like a professional tool, priced for the home.
Haley Fox Blog : Best vacuum sealer I’ve ever Owned!
This is what true quality looks like! Very solid and well made vacuum sealer! Easy to use, with tons of accessories and features. Has a clear easy to understand manual and works perfectly each time! Highly recommend!
Darrin Wilson : Such a great machine with lots of features and options! The bags are also great!
This is a very well made machine and has all the features you would want! Pulse, canister, 3 different seal options, double pump, 2 different pump speeds, and lots more. The bags and canisters are also some of the best I have seen. Check out my review video above for more information!
Beth A : I cannot recommend this vacuum sealer at all
I cannot recommend this vacuum sealer at all
I have tried everything I can think of, short of putting all of my weight on it, and I cannot get it to work. I've read and re-read the instructions, but haven't been able to identify user problems. It does not seal the material into bags. Parts will be untouched, while others are starting to melt through. I've tried it with the bag material provided, and a variety of others, and the results are the same. Then there's the issue that when I try to vacuum and seal pre-made bags, it doesn't vacuum the air out, so it doesn't even attempt to seal it, not that I would want it to seal an unvacuumed bag, but I can't see if it would seal better on that setting than on the one just for sealing. I cannot recommend this even though it's attractive, and stands on end for storage, which would be much more convenient than the FoodSaver I meant for it to replace.
Thank you for reading my review. I hope you found it helpful.
Claire : Best of the best vac sealer.
Have had one for 8 plus years and still works great. This is an upgrade since then and am very impressed. Would highly recommend.
Whidbey Mary : Top of the Line Sealer With lots of Options
This MagicVac Vacuum Sealer is top of the line. I have a couple of earlier models of vacuum sealers and found them to be very useful. This one has more options which make it even more useful. The graphics make it understandable and easy to operate right from the box.
The dry, wet, and very wet sealing options are critical to making it a useful sealing machine. Cleaning is easy because of the removable drip tray. The tube allows jars to be sealed as well. Having the roll of bags stored in the sealer is very handy as well.
WSW : Works Great!
I have never owned a vacuum sealer before so I was a little hesitant to begin with. Once I read the instructions, it didn't take long to catch on. I had four steaks that I did separately, and then I had a bunch of hotdog and hamburgers buns which I packaged in smaller meal-size portions and froze. The steaks I didn't freeze. I cooked two sous-vide style because they have to be in sealed bags, and the other two I put in the refrigerator. A week later I cooked the other two pieces of steak, and they were still fresh. That's a big win! The buns have also been in great shape when I pull them out of the freezer while I make burgers or dogs. I'm very satisfied with the ease of use and the preservation of the feed you seal. I used the bags that came with the machine, but I also used some other branded sealer bags, and they worked well, too.
MOCTODNOZAMA : Awesome semi-professional quality vacuum sealer...
THE GOOD:
--------------
* Strong double pump vacuum
* Built in roller holder and cutter
* Built in storage for power cord, as well as vacuum tube accessories.
* Easy to use and intuitive.. I skimmed through the instructions. LOL!
* Made in Italy.
THE BAD:
-----------
* I don't know. Can't think of anything right now. It seals our food perfectly thus far. We'll see what issues may arise down the road, but as for now, this is 5-stars!
Prince of Peas : Simply, much better than I thought it would be. It should be standard in any kitchen.
I’ve been using vacuum sealers for many, many years now, both professionally, and at home.
Besides using them for freezing foods and other food storage, I typically use them a few times a week for use for my sous vide preparations which is something I do frequently.
For years I’ve been using another brand, well-known and considered a leader in the field. And, I can say I have never had a complaint about their quality or performance over the years, with one exception.
When I looked at this unit, and I saw all of the many controls it had, my original thought was that while they were good to have, a simple vacuum sealer does not need all of them and that they were selling fluff, adding gizmos, and gadgets just to be different and “better” because there were more bells and whistles. I admit that I have often bought items that were over-equipped because I thought they would be “better” and I always want the latest and greatest but, with my vacuum sealer, I stuck with the old “If it ain’t broken, don’t fix it” adage. And, do I really need LED lighting and a viewing window on a sealer?
When I saw this unit, however, I thought “would being able to control the speed, the vacuum, and the moisture to the degree that this unit allows, help me with the one issue that I had with my other sealers?” The issue I have always had was with very high moisture foods. The other sealers handled most of what I needed to vacuum, such as sealing a piece of meat that was high moisture or which had been marinated, without a problem. But very high moisture products, such as you’ll see in my photos, have been an issue. They would draw too much of the liquid into the vacuum chamber making it difficult to get a good vacuum and/or a good seal. They would also create a mess which is one reason you want your sealer to have a removable vacuum chamber, which this and most of my other sealers do.
I won’t go into detail about the sealer, most of it is there on the sales page and in other reviews. The only negative I had was that the body is all plastic. I’m sure it’s high-quality plastic and I know that the internal parts must be strong because this sealer weighs far more than my other similarly sized equipment.
The key for me is in the proof of the attached photos. I took a chicken salad that was about 80% solids and 20% liquids and decided to see if this could handle pulling a vacuum on and, be able to seal something like that. In my experience, only the industrial clam-shell type vacuums could do that, and even then, many couldn’t. As the pictures show, being able to adjust the speed, the vacuum, and the moisture content did the job. We lost a bit of liquid but not so much that it choked the vacuum by filling the chamber, and it was still able to heat through the wet plastic bag. BTW, I used a generic bag for this, not the higher quality bags that come with the unit because I will usually use generic bags!
I’ve put my other unit on the bench as a standby, but I’ll be using this from now on. If I see a change in its performance, I’ll update this review.
