It's a smoker it smokes meat ????

I received a Masterbuilt 30" electric digital smoker with the leg kit for Father's day, and I'm really enjoying it so far. For my inaugural meal I smoked 2 large chickens, 6 sweet potatoes, and a 12" pan of mac & cheese for 9 people without breaking a sweat.
The good:
- It's well made, with no bad seams or loose screws; the box feels very solid.
- The leg kit was easy to put together and is very stable; the extra height definitely helps.
- I had the whole thing set up in minutes - just remember you have to "run it in" for 3 hours before using it.
- surprisingly roomy, a perfect size for your casual backyard pitboss. I cooked enough food for 9 people with a rack to spare.
- Despite it's capacity it's still very compact, it takes about 1/3 the deck space my old Weber grill even with the leg kit.
- so far cleaning has been easy, just scrub the racks and water pan in the kitchen sink.
- The company claims you need to put 10 feet between the smoker and anything flammable, but that's their lawyers talking - realistically it's far less of a fire hazard than a propane grill, wooden clapboards and decking don't even get warm to the touch 6 inches away from the smoker. I can hold my hand directly on it for 10 seconds at a time while it's cooking at 275ºF without discomfort. Of course, you do you, there's always a risk of fire if these types of things are left unattended. I have my smoker right outside the kitchen window for monitoring, and I already have a fire extinguisher mounted on the deck for the grill.
- It starts producing smoke rapidly, within 15 minutes; using about 1/2 cup commercial wood chips per 40-60 minutes.
The not-so-good:
- The green LED readout is almost completely invisible in direct sunlight; this is the smoker's biggest flaw.
- The digital controller is primitive and a bit of a pain to use - you have to scroll through temps and times like an old LED clock or something.
- I haven't tested the temperature accuracy yet, but I've heard there can be issues; the chicken came out with rubbery tough skin despite 3 hours at 275ºF, I suspect it was too cold; next time I'll throw the chicken on the grill or in the oven to crisp up the skin for the last 1/2 hour of cooking.
- The chip loader is fussy about the size and amount of chips, although with proper care it worked ok.
Overall a great buy at the current price, it'll do the job very well until I need something fancier - which is possibly never.
