Answer: the different modes all work about the same, there is a small tube that moister will collect, over all not bad for the price

Answer: Highly recommend the vacuum bag since it is designed for vacuum sealing. The regular plastic bags are too thin to hold the negative pressure and probably melt and stick on the heating chamber during the sealing process.

This Goscien Vacuum Sealer Machine performs well and will be very useful for many kitchens. Using the ‘dry” option for sealing will create a seal with little air left in the bag. And the bag crinkled around the product sealed in it. Moist and gentle options create seals with more air, and this will be appropriate for breads and other items that would be crushed by “dry.” It’s helpful to have these options to seal food or other items just like you intend.

You can seal any bag you wish without removing any air at all. So, theoretically, you could create a bag by sealing edges of a cut piece from a roll, but this is not easy. I put a piece in the cutting part but was not able to cut it at all. Thus, I conclude that this machine is appropriate for use with bags already created for sales but not so good for rolls of materials.

This is simple to use and makes for so much more room in my freezer, Can wrap almost anything Meat/pasties etc I also write the dates on the plastic with a sharpie pen so I know what one to eat first going by latest dates. Would recommend ????

Since I like to buy meat in bulk this vacuum sealer was just what I needed to store those steaks, chops, burgers, etc. I've been using it for about 5 months and have had no problems, no issues. My long frozen items are perfect when defrosted.

Great machine but shocking to find that it would not vacuum seal after only a few uses and had to be reset many times in the previous weeks after purchase anyway. It was great at first with a double vacuum action to check for a seal. Gone back to using my original Bargain German little store, purchases at 14.99, which actually was still working but not with a double check. Shame and returning it for guarantee is stressful, as a disabled person. I only used it for sealing up surplus veg and meat for the freezer.

I really love a good seal a mealer. This one is very good. The only problem I have with it is the area where you cut the bag after sealing is harder to use than need be. If it had a lock in place that would make it much easier. Trying to hold it in place and slide the blade across is a bit hard at times. But aside from that it's so easy to use. I sealed pecans and some bags of coconut. Used dry seal for pecans and moist for coconut. It works great.
I do recommend this product to anyone who needs a good seal a meal.

Mine came defective. I watched all the videos, read the instructions, did everything exactly right but it would make noise but not suction any air out.

For the price it does a great job. First time using one of these and after trial and error I am able to get perfect suction and seal. Key is make sure bag is aligned straight and correctly and it will work great. The cutter on this isn't that great and will probable get a better cutter to cut bags from rolled bags. This vacuum sealer would be better to use with precut ready bags like ones that are included. Overall very satisfied and fills my need.

Purchased 2nd Jan - brilliant. Does what I need, seals end of roll, easy guillotine inside to cut the roll to the desired length (hold roll firmly for thick plastics). Seals effectively, seal it twice, to prevent heavy foods breaking a fresh seal. Vacuum empties bag completely, seal again. Job done. Read instructions eventually, mostly you can work it out yourself - this is the sort of simplicity I like - no ned for complexity.

This GOSCIEN Food Saver does a really great job of sealing all kinds of foods. I've had it a few weeks now and I have gone through all the bags they provided and started in on an 11" wide roll of vacuum sealer plastic I got at the store, all have worked great. I've used it for steaks, chicken, pork, vegetables, leftovers, all kinds of stuff and it has performed flawlessly every time.

Normally we buy bulk packs of chicken breasts and break them up in to single meal size packages in gallon or quart freezer bags for freezing. Problem is if you don't get all the air out you end up with freezer burn, and sometimes if the zipper doesn't seal all the way just a little air creeps in and ruins the food. The GOSCIEN food saver solves that problem. I've started using it for freezing steaks and other flat pack meats for freezing as well and it works really well. I peeled a full butternut squash but it was too much for a single meal so I vacuum sealed the part I didn't use and it has kept fresh for 2 weeks in the fridge now. We also buy 1lb packages of flash frozen scallops that are fine till you open the package and take out a few. The rest will end up freezer burned in just a week or two, but vacuum sealing them lets them last a month or more. This thing is really going to cut down our food waste.

I also like to sous vide things and up to now I have used the zipper bag/water immersion method for cooking but the GOSCIEN food saver makes it fool proof to ensure all the air is out and the food has the most contact with the water. I've tested the "moist" setting and it does well not sucking marinade out of the bag so I can prep the food with seasonings and stick it in the fridge overnight then drop it in the water the next day and a few hours later have delicious tender dinner ready to go. I'm looking forward to experimenting with freezing pre-seasoned meats after sealing with the GOSCIEN food saver and dropping them in the sous vide bath frozen. Talk about easy meal prep.

Since this pandemic is not over yet, I had bought a ton of groceries before and it went bad as I couldn't finish it in time. This sealer is perfect as I can preserve my groceries and it stays fresh for a while longer. It is super airtight and I bought extra bags to use. Love it. Also I can seal some items in the future when I travel again, that way the products won't spill in my luggage.

I've tried a number of different vacuum sealers over the last few years, and I can say that most all of them work exactly the same, and typically have the same basic features. This particular sealer does not stand out from the rest in any way.

The sealer provides all of the same basic functions: Dry Vac/Seal, Moist Vac/Seal, Seal Only, and Cancel. This unit also provides a hose and connector to use with most vacuum seal cannisters, and with a separate button to control this function. The sealer will seal up to a 12-inch wide bag, or gallon-sized bag. There's no internal storage for rolls of bag material, but a bag cutter is provided under the lid.

Sealing a bag is simple as filling the bag with your food product, placing the open lip of the bag into the tray area in the sealer, then closing and latching the sealer. If you're sealing a dry or relatively dry product, press the Dry VacSeal option... if the product is wet, like a soup or sauce, chose the Moist VacSeal option. The system will then extract the air from the bag and will create a seal.

What I found when I compared this sealer to other similar products was that the vacuum pump wasn't as powerful or as quick to extract the air from the bag, nor did it remove as much air as other sealers. Since the major purpose of the system is to create an air-tight vacuum around your food product, I feel that the product I tried lacked enough power to do the job well. Given other reviews, perhaps the particular unit I received was somewhat defective, but I have no means to ascertain that.

Based upon my experience, and given all of the variables and options available, I feel that there are other products available for less money that outperform this particular device.

I bought this in October of 2020. It was semi-functional one or 2 times. Since then, I keep bringing it back out, hoping it will do better.
I see lots of great reviews. Maybe mine is a "lemon". It doesn't vacuum at all. I hear it. I squeeze out as much air as possible. It just makes a noise. The seal is no good either. I've had to seal and re-seal 3 or 4 times. It always skips random spots.
I have had to stoop to ZIP LOCKS! I'm so ashamed!

I got this sealer so that I can seal the festive food and store it in the fridge. I will then be able to distribute as and when we meet friends and relatives over the holidays. The machine comes with a few covers and Amazon has a lot of refills available. The cutting function on the machine makes it easy to cut and seal. The machine itself is very compact and can be stored easily when not in use.

GOSCIEN vacuum sealer has lots of features as more expensive versions. There's a moisture control and reservoir for any liquids. There's a gentle mode for delicate items and less vacuum pressure. The built in cutter raises up and cuts evenly. The 11" capacity fits wide bags for large materials, while my other sealer can only do 8" bags and not other selections. There's a bottling hose for vacuum bottles/containers. Overall, the best vacuum sealer I have. The plastic molding on the top is poor, there's unsightly injection mold marks on the top cover. I'm a bit bummed out that the box it came in was dented as I like to package back in its original box for storage when not in use. For smaller and heavy duty bags, this vac sealer creates a great vacuum. But for a large piece of roast in a 11" bag, I got a weaker vacuum than expected. But the seal is just fine. Overall I'm very happy at the versatility for freezing leftovers, cuts of meat, use for keeping things air tight fresh & protected, sous vide cooking, jarring, etc.
