Answer: Which portable smoker are we talking about here (brand, dimensions, etc)? The rack is average sized, as far a rib racks go. Frankly if size is a concern, ribs don't seem like a good option to smoke anyways since any decent amount of ribs (perhaps other than baby backs) will take up a lot the space.

Answer: It's a thin flexible mat with tons of openings⦠If well supported by the rack I don't see why it can't hold up heavier items. Never tried it. One more thing to clean because my guess is it WILL NOT protect the rack it is in contact with from drippings so you will end up cleaning both.
Answer: The material is flexible but if it is laying on a grill or rack, a rack of ribs can lay on it. You would not be able to carry the ribs on it though since it is flexible.
Answer: This is a flexible (like fabric) pad that lays in the smomer on top of the factory rack to keep smaller slices of meat like jerkey from falling through the slots in the factory rack while allowing smoke to flow through. It is not an add on or replacement rack.
Answer: It fits across the entire rack. It reminds me of those silicone baking mats that fit into a baking sheet but a different material. It's used for small items that might fall thru the rungs of the rack, like fish, or vegetables or cheese or nuts. It wouldnt hurt to use it under ribs or roasts, but I put a foil pan on rack below to catch grease, this would prevent the grease from dripping thru so it might cause an uncontrolled mess.

How would these work for smoking Oyster's?
Answer: These mats are about 1/4" mesh so oysters smoked on the half shell won't fall through. Shucked oysters would be held up by the mesh but I'm not sure if they would stick to it or release cleanly. I've used mine to smoke almonds and can fit about 1 lb. per mat.

Answer: Avoid getting water on the inside. Otherwise you have to be really good about drying them without mold growing in there. I just wear them on my hands then wash with dish soap and rinse like I would just wash my hands, works great.

What’s the best way to clean the mat? Bought this for my brother and he’s used it with bacon in his smoker and can’t get it cleaned.
Answer: I use a 4 inch grill scraper that I got at a restaurant supply store. I also line the bottom of the grill with aluminum foil as best I can. When I do bacon candy in the smoker, the drippings build up to a quarter inch that turns into a a greasy jell on the bottom of the smoker. The aluminum foil does a pretty good job catching the drippings so cleaning is not so bad a chore. I go in to clean the bottom in the opening on the front that holds the smoke box for the work chips.
Answer: We would recommend with warm water and mild soap after each use. You may clean with Apple Cider Vinegar.

Answer: Bought these as a gift for our son who loves to smoke and grill meats. He says gloves work okay and are heat resistant due to the silicone. He has no idea up to what temp but a necessity when removing meat from the smoker or pellet grill.
Answer: Yes, they are heat resistant, but not heat proof. Taking the racks and meat off the smoker is no problem, but I would not use them as oven mitts. They are great for pulling apart butts and holding ribs for slicing, but they are not cut proof, so caution should be used when carving. Cleaning with soap and water is a breeze if you clean them while still wearing them.

The silicon mesh may and rib rack are great quality for the price. The heat resistant gloves work for slight heat but using them to open the Masterbuilt cold smoke unit to add more chips and they began to melt to it. These aren't the best quality which is why I gave 4 stars but the package is

Purchased for hanging summer sausage. Expected it to be full-size & replace a regular rack. Not so. Would need 2x to cover a full rack. Hooks are too close together to hang summer sausage. I could only hang 5 sticks (2/1/2) without them touching. Better off buying some S-hooks. Poor design.

I ordered this as an add-on item for my new smoker for less than the gloves would have cost. I use the rack for 4 half racks of baby backs. It allows great air circulation and takes up less room. The gloves were great for wrestling the pork butt. This allowed me to turn and remove the roast without it all falling apart. I only used them to move from the smoker rack to a pan that I used to carry everything into the house. I don't think the gloves are meant to have in contact with hot food for a long period of time. I have not tried the mat yet, but it looks like it would work well for smoking fish or making jerky. I strongly recommend this set, especially for someone new to smoking food.

Great price for this bundle. I bought a set as a gift and after use, the comment was that the gloves are awesome. They are nice and thick. We used the rack 1 time so far and it seemed to work fine...the ribs fell on each other a little, but maybe this is how they always work. No other reference. Haven't used mat yet. Ordered a second set for home also and will probably order more.

I bought these to use making jerky. They work ok, but they don't seem to be very non-stick. These will help you with smaller pieces not falling through the grates, but larger pieces I feel I'm almost better off just using just the smoker racks. You will need to clean the smoker racks regardless of using these mats or not. I have to scrub these quite a bit to get clean, kind of defeating the purpose of me buying these. For the price I would definitely look at other options before purchasing these, like stainless steel grill pans for not much more (they also makes transporting your food easier). I picked up a Weber stainless steel grill pan for $15 at my local store in the grilling section. Kind of wondering if I didn't get knockoffs seeing that others say nothing sticks in their reviews, though the packaging did say Masterbuilt.
