Sent to my Grand children who live on the coast and they just happened to need a bigger net so it was perfect. Easy to cast, weighted well and good combination of strength to weight. And the bucket is a nice bonus as it is a must have for rinsing and stowing.

First off, for some reason, i had a horrible time trying to get the lid off of the bucket that the net is stored in. It has a little pull tab to what I would of thought would break the seal from the bucket, but it didn't. I had to use a needle nose vise grip to grip the lid and for the most part break the lid off the bucket. I may of received a faulty bucket, not sure.

Once I was able to get the net out, first impressions of the net, I was impressed with the quality of the materials. The net itself is good quality line, not thin. The weights tied to the bottom of the net were tight, and the rope seemed to be made from good nylon, and braided tightly.

I'm not the most experienced cast net thrower, but the net seems to throw easy.

Overall, I'm impressed with this net, hopefully will last for years, and catch many bait fish my next trip offshore!

Halibut season is coming up so this cast net is perfect for catching live baits. 3/8 mesh net hole are good size to catch bait fish like sardine.
8' net length makes a nice large circumference to surround a wide area when cast open correctly. The wrist strap wraps on your wrist but it's a little wide, need Velcro to strap it tightly or it can easily slip off.
Unfortunately didn't have any fish on that day because very low tide.

The quarter inch 4 foot seems fairly well made for the price, but it sinks a bit too slowly for my needs in 15 feet of water. Probably due to the finer mesh. I’d buy again, but I’d get the 3/8 inch instead.

Big In Japan : Nice net for the money!

I bought the 1/4” mesh x 4’ high net and have used it on a couple of outings. For the bait and terrain that I was targeting on those trips, the 1/4" mesh x 4' radius was a necessity. It casts easy and opens well. I might have preferred a little more weight to help the net sink quicker, but for the money ($50) it will suffice. The main line is long enough to be used even on a fairly high pier. However, due to the weight (and associated slow sinking speed), this net is best used in shallow water. At least the light weight and long main line allow the net to be thrown a good distance, useful if you are targeting baits that spook easily. One last thing, the opening on the horn is large enough to pull the main line through, so the net can be prone to developing tangles if you're not careful.

Didn’t realize that this wasn’t a dual ring action casting net.. so when you cast it, it retracts from the rope being pulled through the one ring, instead of the other ring able to be grabbed to release and fine closing. Also isn’t as tall as most nets. But a good budget net overall.
