My husband has been wanting a cast net for some time, and it's even more appropriate now that the family has a shared waterfront house. It's winter, of course, so it may be a little while until he can take it out, but this seems like a very nice cast net!
The mesh is nice and small, so you shouldn't lose anything. The weights are nice and evenly distributed, and they're coated with rounded edges. That should minimize snagging. It comes hooked up to a nice strap with a nice wide surface for gripping. It's all packaged in what resembles a small kitty litter bucket, so you do have a place to put your catch (minnows, presumably).
He likes it and is excited to take it out when it warms up a bit.

Didn’t realize that this wasn’t a dual ring action casting net.. so when you cast it, it retracts from the rope being pulled through the one ring, instead of the other ring able to be grabbed to release and fine closing. Also isn’t as tall as most nets. But a good budget net overall.

First off, for some reason, i had a horrible time trying to get the lid off of the bucket that the net is stored in. It has a little pull tab to what I would of thought would break the seal from the bucket, but it didn't. I had to use a needle nose vise grip to grip the lid and for the most part break the lid off the bucket. I may of received a faulty bucket, not sure.
Once I was able to get the net out, first impressions of the net, I was impressed with the quality of the materials. The net itself is good quality line, not thin. The weights tied to the bottom of the net were tight, and the rope seemed to be made from good nylon, and braided tightly.
I'm not the most experienced cast net thrower, but the net seems to throw easy.
Overall, I'm impressed with this net, hopefully will last for years, and catch many bait fish my next trip offshore!

Halibut season is coming up so this cast net is perfect for catching live baits. 3/8 mesh net hole are good size to catch bait fish like sardine.
8' net length makes a nice large circumference to surround a wide area when cast open correctly. The wrist strap wraps on your wrist but it's a little wide, need Velcro to strap it tightly or it can easily slip off.
