Charcoal Grill

2. You have to check the temper in real-time to make sure it's not overcooked. For our pellet grill---grill will do it for you, you can have more time to prepare food, play with your friends and family.

3. It can't smoke your food. For our pellet grill also is a smoker, you can enjoy your food with smoky flavor.

Gas Grill

1. You can't set it in precise temper, have to adjust it manually. For our pellet grill---the grill will automatically add wood pellets and control the temper in proper range.

3. It's not safe. The propane tank, may have gas leak problem. Our pellet grill don't have this problem.

4. It's not safe and good-looking if hanging the propane tank on one side of the grill or place it on ground, it takes half storage place if place it on shelf or cabinet. For our pellet grill---wood pellets won't take much space, our hopper have plenty space for it, you don't have to storage too much additionally.

5. It can't smoke your food. For our pellet grill also is a smoker, you can enjoy your food with smoky flavor.

Electric Smoker

1. It has less cooking area. For our pellet grill---the cooking area are larger than 450 sq.in., you can barbecue more food at one time.

2. You can't set it in precise temper, have to adjust it manually. For our pellet grill---the grill will automatically add wood pellets and control the temper in proper range.

3. The temper usually is under 300°F. For our pellet grill---the temper is between 100°F-450°F, you can grill, BBQ, smoke, roast, sear, braise, bake and char-grill your food.

4. You need to remember to add water and timely to check if water is evaporated, otherwise the food will not be in good taste. For our pellet grill---only need to add wood pellets, and our hopper have plenty space for the wood pellets, the grill will add wood pellets accordingly, you don't need to check from time to time.

Is it gas, or charcoal?

Answer: neither

How much does the temperature fluctuate after temp is set?

Answer: It won’t fluctuate much at all unless it is cold and windy day

What is the difference between 2020 controls and 2021 upgrade and is the Pid control on all grills

How hard is it to clean the ashes?

Answer: Pretty easy. There is a trey that pulls out from the back to dump all the ashes. Still may need to vacuum out the portion that sits on top of the burner/auger.

Answer: Easy with a shop vac

Does this grill have a hopper clean-out to quick change or store pellets?

Answer: Sorry, no it does not. I clean must of the pellets out by hand and finish with a small hand held shop vac.

Answer: The grill is not configured to accept charcoal and there is no place to put the to burn. The grill works great just the way it was designed and there is no need for charcoal.

Love the grill. Amazing flavor

So far I've cooked Italian Sausages, tri-tip, frozen hambers, and smoked ribs. They all came out very well and evenly cooked. It's simple to use. Haven't used all the ways to cook on it yet. The only cons so far has been the little magnetic parts for the bottom of the doors to hold them closed don't stay in, they come out when ever I open the doors. The temp goes up and down a little but not much. so far i've used 10 lbs of pellets but that's with smoking ribs for 5 1/2 hours and grilling the above meats.

Ian Aros : Temperature controls is ridiculously bad, buyer beware!

I set this thing to smoke and when I noticed it had gone to 300+ degrees. It burned a $600 ribeye roast to a crisp. DO NOT BUY THIS, get a Traeger instead is more expensive but you get what you pay for.

Worked for about 4 weeks. Than experienced Her error.
Tech Support sent out replacement control module, which required disassembly and removal of hopper unit, same problem.
Want to return grill and Amazon says return period expired.
Problem SOLVED: On series 1000 grills the RTD probe fits into cutouts in the grate supports.
If the probe touches any of the metal you will have this problem. It can be intermittent (if its touching now and than) or result in wide temperature swings around 350. All I did was loosen the support screws, centered the probe in the cut outs and problem solved.

The front had a dent it in and the doors had space between them (see attached picture). I don't know if this happened during shipping or if was damaged before shipping. I was not going to send it back because it was a present for my husband. Other than that, the grill cooks perfectly!!!
