Questions about MTM AC30T Ammo Can 30-Caliber Military Style
Q:
I'm reading mixed reviews. How many 9mm 50rd boxes could fit? Some say 20, others say 6-8...
Answer: Can only get 6/50rd boxes but have over 500 loose rds too! LG
Answer: I have got 600 loose 9mm rounds in. Maybe 650. Seller says 1000. I doubt it.
Answer: The MTM Ammo Can 30 Caliber fits 1,000 rounds of 9mm. The inside dimensions are (L) 3.4 x (W) 8.9 x (H) 6.1.
Answer: For the 9mm 50 round boxes, it will depend on the size of the boxes. I can fit 17 of the smaller sized boxes in this case.
Answer: 6 is about it. There is room to spare, but you will not fit ant more as you cannot get a fraction of a box in. Like the others said, many more loose rounds...
Q:
What is the actual outer width of the 30? It is listed at 5 inches, but I am curious if it is actual 5 or a little less. Thank you
Answer: It’s actually 5”.
Answer: 5 1/8 outside of lid
Q:
Why did my ammo can arrive without a handle? Is the handle not included in this item?
Q:
Is this airtight and watertight?
Answer: Airtight yes. Water tight, no.
Answer: I believe its more intended to keep atmospheric moisture out. Ammo in original boxes still smells fresh months later when the case is opened. Against a casual submersion like being dropped in the water while moving to and from a boat, probably. Stored underwater for a week? I doubt it. The best way is to get one or two and test them. The latches won't stand up to any truly rough handling in any case. Its big plus is it accepts a padlock.
Answer: it appears so. there is a rubber seal. I have not submerged it. but, I do not not absolutely.
Q:
Can this be stacked on top of mtm acr4-18 reusing the ridge?
Answer: Yes
Q:
Please whoever makes these: use a label with a glue that will come off.
Answer: Spray some WD40 on the label, let it sit a bit, it will peel right off.
Answer: I noticed that also. If you carefully pull it off, it will completely come off
Answer: When I removed mine, it left a little glue residue, but a single alcohol wipe took care of it in a few seconds.
Answer: mine came off with no issues...
Answer: That's interesting, I did not have that issue
Q:
How many 12 guage shotshells fit in one?
Answer: Loosely, I figure 90-100. In boxes of 25, however, more like 50. It's better to store them loose especially if you buy in bulk.
Q:
Could this 30 cal ammo box work as a prefect replacement for a damaged ammo box that originally came with the MTM4 can
Answer: Yes, they are the same dimensions are those in the MTM4
Answer: Yes
Q:
will it hold 22lr
Answer: I have put 2,200 rounds of loose 22LR in each box.
Answer: Sure - it will hold a lot of 22 rounds loose or boxed.
Answer: I sure it will I put 750 rds 9mm loose ammo in all mine! LG
Answer: Yes
Answer: Yes.
Q:
Can you put paint balls in it?
Answer: I don't see why not. It's a plastic box with a lid. There is nothing special about paint balls that I know about.
Answer: Yes, it would be good for paint balls. It's an empty container with an awesome latching lid. Should work well.
Answer: you can put anything in it that will fit...(it's fairly small...)
Answer: Put whatever you want in it.
Q:
Ammo boxes fit?
Answer: Your question is vague. Any ammo up to 30 caliber will fit. It is after all just an open box. I use mine for 22 WSM.
Answer: yes but maybe only 5 -6 boxes
Answer: Anything!
Q:
How many 223 20 rd boxes fit?
Q:
Will a standard combo masterlock fit this and will it be secure with just one lock?
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: I only lock a related product - an ammo crate - but using a normal lock I had to drill the hole out a bit - easily done as it is relatively soft plastic. I would note that locking these things is strictly a “keep the kids out” type of security. It would be very easy to cut open.
Q:
How many boxes of 20rd .308win will this hold
Answer: 10 - i was able to fit 10 boxes of tulammo .308 fmj in it no problem.
Q:
Can you use those small TSA regulated locks with this ammo can?
Answer: I'm not familiar with the specific locks but I've used http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00004Y8D4?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage with them.
Answer: Well there is 2 locking points on the box both looks to be approx. 5/16" holes.
Q:
when this product will in stock?
Q:
Legal disclaimer says "lot of 2" is this correct and does it mean 2 cans for the list price?
Q:
does the green one have a grey top or a green top?
Answer: Green top. All of the can is green.
Answer: Mine have green.
Answer: The bottom and top are the same, OD green.
Answer: The one I bought is all black.
Q:
Have tamper resistant would this be if used for prescription medication?
Answer: Well, if you put a small padlock on it then someone would have to break the container to get into it-which would be pretty easy to do. So yeah, youd know if it's been tampered with. This isnt really a container to buy if securing its contents is a high priority to you. Locking it up will just keep out the "honest" people. Wont keep out anyone else. A child could bang this on a rock and break it open even if locked. It's only made of plastic folks. You gotta be a little realistic here. If it's that important to secure your meds then you should look for something else.
Q:
How many 50 rounds boxes of .40s&w can i put in it?
Answer: This is a pretty small box. I can fit seven boxes of 9mm. Pretty safe to assume the same for .40.
Answer: Can not answer that question.
Q:
How many 11 guage 23/4" shotsheels will fit in this?
Q:
How many 30-30??
Answer: I got 10 boxes of 30-30 and several boxes of .22 cal in mine......
Q:
Will a traditional master padlock fit?
Answer: Yes, but It's plastic case. So it's only gonna keep and honest person honest. It's not gonna stop a thief.
Answer: Yes, but It's plastic case. So it's only gonna keep and honest person honest. It's not gonna stop a thief.
Q:
Is there a rubber seal all the way around the lid where it closes? If liquid were stored inside, would it spill when tipped over? thanks
Answer: Yes, there is a rubber seal all way around the lid. With that said, the box is plastic and flexes. The box label and the advertising flyer inside state the box is water RESISTANT. Nowhere are the phases watertight or waterproof used. The box flexes enough that the gasket breaks seal and would let liquid in or out.
Answer: I gave this to a friend.....
Q:
what are the Inside dimensions
Answer: The AC30T is Inside: 3.4"(L) x 8.9"(W) x 6.1"(H)
Answer: Inside Dim.: 5.8''Lx11''Wx7.2''H
Q:
What size lock fits?
Answer: they all come with at least one 1/4" diameter hole for a padlock with 1/4" diameter shank.
Q:
I would like to put the original ammo cardboard boxes in this, will it work?
Answer: I put 30-30 boxes in mine and they fit ok, also, several 00 buck boxes.
Answer: Yes, it will work. Just keep in mind it wont hold as much. I bought for my husband and he does the same thing.
Q:
Anyone use ammo can for 300bo? just wondering how many 50rd boxes of 300bo it will hold?
Q:
When will this product be available I want it in the shortest time???????????????????????
Q:
Will this hold 1000rnds of loose 45ACP
Answer: I got 1000 9mm in loose.
Answer: I don't believe it will 5 boxes of 9mms fill it up pretty will. Check boxes dimensions it's pretty small.
Q:
Can you open this if you just use one padlock?? Looking for boxes for a homemade escape room challenge.
Answer: That depends on the size of the item the boxes made of plastic so if you pry on it you could break the Box but if it's just for a larger item I think you might be fine
Answer: No. It's opened on one end and hinged on the other. The boxes are well made. I use them on my service truck.
Answer: They are very secure w/lock I only use plastic tie strap to hold mine closed LG
Q:
About how many .223 / 556 runds can fit in each can??
Answer: 500 rounds loose for me as well
Answer: I was able to get 500 rounds in the can.
Answer: about five hundred
Q:
How many 9mm rounds loose (not in box) can fit in this can? thanks
Answer: I've never put loose rounds in but you can fit a lot of 9mm 50 round boxes with no problem.
Q:
What color green is this can? forrest green or light green?
Answer: Dark forest green.
Answer: Damn thing looks black to me.
Q:
Will it hold 1000 rds of 380 & will it support the wieght when walking with holding the handle? Or will the top break off & all my ammo go everwhere?
Answer: Yes, it will hold 1000 rds of 380 ammo. It is well made and will not pop open when carrying.
Answer: This is a pretty sturdy ammo can. I have filled it up with un open boxes of 9 mm and it has never opened due to wait while holding and walking. I can’t confirm about 1000 rd of loose 380 though.
Answer: It should. I have 600+ of 40 cal. It weights about 24 lbs.
Answer: Not with mine. My latch would pop.
Q:
Is it smooth or textured
Answer: the box it's self is smooth, the lid has a slight texture.
Answer: Smooth.
Answer: smooth
Answer: Smooth
Answer: smooth

can this hold 1000rnds of 9mm or 38 special if the ammo is still in box?
Answer: Yes, 1000rds of 9mm in 50rd boxes fit no problem
Answer: im thinking 350 rounds in the box
Answer: No, 6-7 50rnd boxes at the most
Answer: I dont think so, this box is very small and in my opinion not too sturdy.
Q:
How many rounds of .223 does this hold?
Answer: 500 rounds.
Answer: I have 450 in mine. I would think you could get 500 in there.
Q:
How many 20rd boxes of 308 will this hold
Q:
Does this fit in mtm 4-can ammo crate 30 cal - ac4c?
Q:
Are they stackable? Thank you.
Answer: Yes, it's stackable. I got two of those.
Answer: Yes, they are stackable.
Answer: Yes
Product reviews of MTM AC30T Ammo Can 30-Caliber Military Style
Crash Test Dummy : Nice box but only splash proof.
This is a good box. Fairly sturdy, but in no way waterproof. It is just splash proof. I would never trust it being submerged or a significant amount of water hitting it. Works well for what I bought them for, though. It fits a fish finder battery well and I also use a separate one to hold a Humminbird Helix 5 fish finder. It fits well in it with a RAM mount attached. I like the size a lot.
Richie Ben : MTM AC30
Very nice solid product. Can hold boxes of ammo nicely with a good handle to carry around. Has two locking holes for a secure feeling when storing at home from the kids or taking it to the range when inside the trunk of a car. I also have the AC 50 which is bigger then this AC 30 product and it works just as good. So far anything from MTM case guard has been satisfactory. Also made in USA.
Cole : exactly what i was looking for
exactly what i was looking for
Tirra : Decent little container for the price.
Its plastic but you're not paying much so why would you expect metal? This will do the trick of carrying your odds and ends or a few small tools(use your imagination). I used mine to make a tire repair kit for my RV. Works great for something like that.
anonymous : Not the best quality.
Not the best quality the walls of this is very thin plastic, bends very easily when pressed on sides. I have a lax ammo plastic box and thats much better. Was hoping this would be more like that. But im sure ill be able to hold a couple hundred rounds or so. Or i might just use this as my cleaning kit box. I wouldnt purchase this again, and i might return it if i see its not capable of holding the weight of the ammo.
Amazon Customer : Works well
Smaller than expected
Some Useless Geek : As you have come to expect from MTM
MTM. Rigid, tough, able to hold a lot of heavy rounds. I put .45 ACP in these things and they hold up. Far and away superior to the Plano equivalent. Hey, I like Plano just fine, but if you are gonna haul around some real massive loads you need these boxes.
a guy : Perfect mid-sized can.
see a lot of people worried about the small size of this "can", and I don't think anyone should worry about it.
Sure, it's not a full sized military can. But it serves the purpose just fine.
I can fit approx 300 boxed rounds of 556, and 2 30-round magazines. And probably triple that unboxed.

Keith L. : Robust
These plastic containers are well suited to purpose. I bought five of them to hold a large quantity of ammo. The single plastic snap lock that holds them shut might, possibly, be a weak link in the long term. However when full of weighty ammo they show no sign at all of weakness. I would only worry about knocking them around in such a way as to kick open the latch.
They do stack well. They don't nest tightly though, so the bottom "can" needs to be on a stable flat surface. There's no sagging, the plastic is adequately thick and stiff, and the design is inherently rigid.
A thousand rounds of steel-case 7.62x39 weighs in somewhere around 40 pounds. A case of that is too heavy for most people to handle easily. These cans let me split up the load into 3 easy packages with a handle on top. One of them is plenty for a trip to the range.
It was a huge help that the maker publishes precise internal dimensions. Most of my ammo is in 20- and 40-round packages. A bit of simple math and I knew exactly how many would fit with minimal wasted space. There's a bit of taper to the walls. A little bit of bubble-wrap helps a lot.
Mike Taylor : Perfect size for what I needed.
I was looking for a smaller ammo can for .223s and this is the perfect size. Holds about 400 rounds, so not too heavy either.
Retired75th : Ok but not great, but at a fair price
MTM is a good brand and better than most. I have a number of the 50 cal cans but this .30 is flimsy by comparison especially at the hinge. Fits inside .50 cal can with lots of room to spare. Plastic seems soft. Very light duty. For $6 ok, but not for $10 or more.

John G : To Small
To small it states for 30 cal. ammo only holds 2 boxes unless you carry ammo loose out of the original box.
mrtdrew : no problems so far
Great can for the price. I wish the latch felt more positive when it locked and maybe would click or have one of those latches with the metal bar like on a milsurp can or tackle box but it seems okay so far.
Greg w. : Nice light weight storage
I have multiple MTM ammo "cans". Can't beat 'em for the price.
AngryBowler : Decent quality
Study enough for the money. Good value. It comes with an o-ring seal and looks like it would probably resist water.
Amanishakheto : Sturdy
My husband and my father in-law love these MTM cases. They make perfect "gift bags".
jacob m : Love these ammo cans
I have 6 of these that I use for bulk ammo storage. I generally unbox the ammo and put it in the can loose. I find that it holds roughly 500-800 rounds depending on the caliber, much more with .22 cal. I personally fit about 3,000 rounds of .22 LR in one of these, about 700 rounds of .45, about 500 rounds of .223 and about 750 rounds of .40 S&W. These counts are all for loose ammunition, not for boxed ammo.
Mike Taylor : Perfect size for what I needed.
I was looking for a smaller ammo can for .223s and this is the perfect size. Holds about 400 rounds, so not too heavy either.
Bradley Berreth : My favorite ammo cans
Affordable quality and durable water resistant and lockable what more could you want awesome customer service as well.
Amazon Customer : Happy with my purchase
Ordered 3 of the black ammo cans. Love them. Labeled all my ammo cans once I got them and now I am very organized. Fit 1,000 rounds of .223 in one can, 750 rounds of 9mm in the second can, and over 2,000 rounds of .22lr in the third. Great little range cans you can just pick up and go with.
Elisa : Made out of tough ABS plastic..?. Solid construction, with a silicone rubber seal; may be
Made out of tough ABS plastic..?. Solid construction. Looks like silicone rubber seal.adding even more protection...? I purchased this box for my electronics (3.5" hard drives with a very valuable data) and the second one for very expensive brushes, and for series 7 (cobalt, blue, cadmium red, yellow, lemon, blue,.etc. paint tubes - all 92 are cost 1oz = $68 each ) ...now need to get some 1/2 foam for the cushioning.;)
Amazon Customer : You can add a locker two on it.
Small enough for my 22 LR rounds. Will probably fit around 2500 rounds of .22.
Giving 4 stars because my can came with the good amount of scratches but no big deal works for me.
Gary : Good storage boxes if you can get them at a reasonable price
It's hard to get too excited about a plastic box but I do find these will serve a lot of uses. I don't think I would pay full price for these because I don't think they are a whole lot better the Plano ones you can get for less at the big box store.
Amazon Customer : You can add a locker two on it.

Giving 4 stars because my can came with the good amount of scratches but no big deal works for me.
Pimpshrimp247 : Perfect size
Great ammo can. Perfect size for a day at the range. I'd recommend getting if you're thinking about it.
Mr Frosty : Great ammo can
Ordered two the other day. To start they are priced well for what you get. The weight on them is good, they feel sturdy and well constructed. The front closure works well and can be closed and opened with ease. The rear hing is like the rest of the ammo can made of plastic but it beefy and is smooth. The lid is a little deeper or I should say taller then other cans it’s size and has a gasket within the lip for a water proof seal. Holes by the front latch lets you lock up the box. The handle again is plastic but it sturdy. The two cans I received were both identical with no flaws or inconsistency. Great product that can hold not only ammo but just about anything else you would like to keep protected, dry and safe.
J. Savoie : Great grab & go box for ammo or what ever
MTM makes good stuff. The lid is watertight & this can take the salt water pretty good. The boxes will stack together well I keep tools in my trunk in one of these. The only thing you can't do is use them to stand on. ( I'm vertically challenged )
Navy Boy : Get your ammo organized, NOW
Fantastic value- I encourage you to pick up a few of these. Put your most used ammo in it and have another one for back-up. You'll thank me later for being organized. During times of chaos, it's much easier to pull loose ammo than boxed ammo. Great .22, .45.223 and buckshot.
Your welcome!
C. F. : Just what I needed...
I use this to store full magazines of magpul gen 3 30 rounds. I can fit about 6 fully loaded inside to take to the range. I also use it to store the ammo in my safe. I don't know how much loose ammo it would hold but a quick guess says 500. It's compact and tall so it fits well. I have ordered a few more to carry other ammo to the range. They work well in my book.
J. Fielding : Missing handle.
What a joke. This thing arrived with the handle missing. What quality control turd would find it acceptable to let this product ship out of the factory in this condition.
J. Savoie : Great grab & go box for ammo or what ever
MTM makes good stuff. The lid is watertight & this can take the salt water pretty good. The boxes will stack together well I keep tools in my trunk in one of these. The only thing you can't do is use them to stand on. ( I'm vertically challenged )
lisa greer : Great little ammo case for woman. I love it
Great ammo case. Fast shipping
william molnar : MTM ammo can
These are smaller then the metal GI 30 call cans. I was able to get 500 334 rounds on stripper clips inside compared to 600-700. They are sturdy and 500 is easier to carry. Top doesnt droop under the weight of the ammo.
R. Alexander : May come without handles.
These MTM ammo cans are durable and do the task they're designed for, but of the 6 I ordered, 2 came without handles and had to be exchanged. The cans looked brand new, so I'm guessing it was a screw up at the MTM factory, not an unscrupulous return of a used item.
Randy E. : Incorrect size
The product said it was 16x8x12
Actually 12x6x10
Biblio-Nut : Light duty Ammo style cases.
Unlike real military ammo cases, this is made of light duty materials and construction, The cases say Made in USA. I had to let the strong plastic smell air out over several days.
dddnotes : A Well Made Plastic Box
Look it is a plastic box. A well made plastic box but still plastic. It is not a metallic ammo can. I got it because I needed to separate items by outside color of container. Hard to do when everything is OD Green. You can not air drop this, run over it with a tank, and it is not waterproof. For what I got it for, it is excellent. It is an OK ammo can.
It will flex.
PB : good price for a gift
gave it to my cousin to go with her 1st gun. good luck filling it with ammo!
Charles Dionisio : 7.62
Barely fits 500 rounds of 7.62x39
Amazon Customer : Dont buy from Amazon - Sticker glue leaves residue
Amazon puts an inventory sticker right on the top middle of these whose glue is newly impossible to remove. I suggest avoiding Amazon.com for purchasing this product as there is no packaging for their purple barcode sticker.
Colleen Ahrens : Nice value
Good for storing airsoft BB’s (kids and hubby use these to keep them sorted)
Charles Dionisio : 7.62
Barely fits 500 rounds of 7.62x39
Fivecats : Wondrous!
Perfect! Does exactly what it is intended for in my favorite color! Great product!
lisa greer : Great little ammo case for woman. I love it
Great ammo case. Fast shipping
Amazon Customer : Works well
Smaller than expected
kimberly / Dennis : Good for the money. Watch for sales at Harbor freight
For the price seem pretty good. Material seems a bit thin. But I just loaded 500. 223 rounds in one canna worked out good
Annie : Great strudy box.
I love this bin. I have purchased a few of them. One as an ammo container and another for cleaning supplies. It's a perfect size to carry to the range. It's not bulky, yet large enough to carry plenty of ammo and spare magazines to the range.
william molnar : MTM ammo can
