Will it seal a 7.5 ml Mylar bag?

Answer: It melted a 5 mil bag I tried to seal, so I'm sure it will seal a 7.5 mil bag.

Will it work on 1.6 ml.plastic ?

Answer: I would not recommend trying. I had a 5 mil mylar bag and it melted it like butter. In my opinion it just really wasn't a good heater.

Can this weld together 8mil/ 10mil polyethylene plastic sheeting? For a micro greennhouse...

Answer: I believe it will. We sealed Mylar at the same thickness

What's the maximum thickness it can seal?

I need to make large "bags" for storing large items like box springs out of heavy plastic, will this accomplish the task?

I used this to seal 5 mm Mylar bags. Heats quickly and seals very well. I had to keep the temp. down so it wouldn’t damage the bags so it will seal thicker material.

I am quite a bit irritated with this product. Firstly, it took weeks for it to get here and arrived well after all of my other mylar bags and oxygen absorbers which all came from various places. Even when it finally gave me a delivery date it arrived a day after.

Secondly, the construction is substandard in my opinion. The control dial in the off position is not displaying correctly because the pointer is off. Because the pointer is off, it points to 250 degrees and its actually 300 degrees. I loosened the screw in the dial in attempt to reset it to show correctly, only to discover the other screws holding the plate in place were sloppily screwed in. The screw on the right side was even stripped out.

I placed pics in this review so you can see what I am talking about. With workmanship like this, this is NOT worth $100. I could spend $35 on a nice clothing iron and a piece of wood to do the same thing and use the other $65 to buy food to go in my mylar bags...huge letdown with this purchase...

Even after all of this I tried to use it.. if you want to use this to seal mylar bags, its overkill. Succeed in melting my first mylar bag EVER. My clothing iron on its hottest setting doesn't melt a mylar bag...returning this item tomorrow.
