Questions about Camp Chef 24 in. WIFI Woodwind Pellet Grill & Smoker, WIFI & Bluetooth Connectivity, PID controller, Stainless Steel, Total Cooking Surface 811 sq in
Q:
Can i get legs w casters for the side that doesn’t have them? where would i find those and what is the part ? the pics on camp chef side has diff legs
Q:
How wide is the body not counting the chimney?
Answer: If you mean the depth not including the chimney from the handle to the back of the unit is about 24 inches.
Q:
Compared to the 36in model, how much less pellets will this use to heat up the same amount of [lesser] food (not using the full capacity; food for 3)?
Q:
How many briskets can i cook on here at once?
Answer: We did 4 briskets at once. All four totalled 60lbs. Thats pushing it with the Camp Chef. All briskets turned out great. The briskets at the church dinner disappeared in 20 minutes!
Q:
What are the dimensions of the side table?
Answer: 16" deep by 12" Wide Questions? please call bbq island at 480-632-9227
Q:
Can you pull the 24 easily thru lawn grass? Wheels seem large enough but I only see a handle on the hopper to pull and it take any stress?
Answer: This is a great smoked but the answer to your question is NO! once loaded with pellets it is extremely heavy and the wheels are too small for for moving on a lawn.
Answer: Can be pulled thru grass. I would suggest hopper empty. Maybe with two people. I probably wouldn't move on a regular basis as it can put stress on hopper.
Answer: Yes you could pull it through short lawn grass. It is heavy and I would not even ask my wife to do that.
Answer: It’s well built and rolls well
Q:
Does the side tray fold down?
Answer: no
Q:
Does this model have a pellet hopper cleanout so I can change pellets for a change in smoke flavor ?
Answer: yes it does, there is a drop from the back of the hopper
Answer: Yes it does. But note that the old pellets will still be in the auger so you'll have to set the run mode to feed in order to cycle out the old and bring in the new pellets.
Answer: Yes it does
Q:
Is this stainless?
Answer: The lid is stainless. Top two racks are stainless steel. We are very happy with cooking on our Camp Chef. Hopefully this helps answer your question.
Answer: The lid is stainless.
Q:
Can I smoke a 20 turkey on a 24” pellet grill
Answer: Yes a 20# turkey can be smoked and it will taste great. Great smoker and grill. Good choice
Answer: i have done 2-15-16lb ones at one time, you can spatchcock them and do a few of them. you should have no problem with 20lbs
Q:
Can this be stored outside like a regular grill gas grill as long as it is covered? Or should it be kept indoors because it is electric?
Answer: It’s outdoor rated and can be left outside but a cover is definitely recommended
Answer: I wondered about that when I bought this item. To me the only issue might be with the electronic controller/display. I keep mine outside and well covered. I do not leave it plugged in. Thus far it has been fine - but I'll know more after this winter. If there is a failure on the controller, I know this is covered under warranty.
Answer: I store mine covered when not in use. Probably will throw a tarp over it as well for a northeast winter
Answer: I store mine outside covered. No issues so far after 6 months.
Q:
Does this have parts that can rust? What if it's left outside, uncovered (or covered)? Will this last a good 5-10 years if cared for (and covered)?
Answer: The rolled steel drip tray rusts up pretty quickly even if properly cared for. But it forms a layer of soot/grease within 2-3 cooks that keeps it structurally stable. Covering in aluminum foil helps to reduce cleanup during a smoke, but you need it uncovered to benefit from the slide'n'grill aspect. I clean my grates after every cook and keep covered when not in use. Have only owned for a month or so though, so cannot speak to long-term longevity.
Q:
Does the app prompt you to go through any steps you may need to consider? Such as alerts that it’s time to spritz the meat, or flip/wrap the meat?
Answer: It does not. The app allows you to monitor and adjust temperature and smoke settings.
Answer: Well built. Easy setup. The temp does vary a bit after opening but stabilized after about three minutes. Cooks great.
Q:
How big is the box when shipped? Dimensions?
Q:
Does this grill have a low pellet sensor that will notify you via the app?
Answer: No it will not notify if you are low on pellets. However, there is a window so you can see how much is left in the hopper. I did a 7 lb. brisket and it probably used less than half a bag of pellets.
Q:
Any issues with food debris / flareups / cleaning when the fire box is exposed using direct flame?
Q:
what is the warranty?
Answer: Warranty Coverage Periods
Q:
How wide is the grill after removing the shelf? With the shelf?
Answer: aprox 40" but then you need to add 6" more for the drip bucket, questions? please call BBQ Island at 480-632-9227 Thank you!
Q:
Can this replace my gas grill, and by that i mean: can i use this to just quickly grill some steaks and veggies, or do i need a side-searer?
Answer: You could. You would need to keep the smoke down and turn the heat up higher than normal. I have a separate grill for grilling though.
Answer: Yes I would recommend the sidekick sear though
Q:
Is this insulated? I want to know how difficult it will be to use in the winter.
Answer: No most people buy the options insulated blanket
Q:
What is different about this than the normal $799 price?
Answer: Guessing your question is that there is not price now. It is because just about all vendors our out of stock of this wonderful product; including Camp Chef. If you search you can find it though at BBQ guys for that price and free shipping. Today anyway.
Answer: This is the normal price.
Q:
Does it come with a cover already?
Answer: It does not come with a cover
Answer: Unfortunately it does not include a cover. I picked up the Patio King cover here on Amazon.
Answer: No cover included.
Q:
On extended cooks over 12 hours, how could you dump ashes in the middle of a cook?
Answer: I smoke my last brisket for over 22 hrs. Cup was pretty full when i was done, but no need to empty in the middle of a cook.
Q:
How deep is this unit with the propane tank? I am tight on space and I’m building a pad.
Q:
How many briskets can i cook at once?
Answer: May be one on top and one on the bottom. Only 24 inches long

Fred Loveberry : Simple to use
Putting together was easy even for me. Works great easy to use my wife even can cook on this and she has issues on a propane grills. Ash clean out is awesome.
Rob : Best US based customer service EVER!
The pellet grill works great, lots of smoke, plenty of options depending on what you are smoking, gets the job done without question. Best part however is the customer service. Unit arrived with some minor shipping damage, called customer service and a new part was in my hands in a couple of days. Months later had an issue with poor WiFi connection, again a brand new (not refurbished) part was delivered right away. They answer the phone quickly, know what they are talking about, are friendly and very responsive. They have earned my repeat business for sure!

Car guy : Great great and great. 250 with more features than “t”
Ok didn’t buy from amazon because of 1 negative review. My bad. The truth is it is so easy to assemble. Took us. 41 minutes from unboxing to first fire up. Negative review must have been an idiot. Used ours for 1 week and only high reviews. Have the t version at other house and the camp fire is so so much higher quality. The slide sear function is great gap for bbq vs smoker. Suggest u try before doing the side bbq propane option. U may not need it. For us at 4500 ft. A 1 inch steak takes 7-8 minute with the great smoke flavor vs bbq.

hani korani : Not worth the money
The assembly was ok despite the less than optimal instructions, the WiFi connection was easy, however it keeps getting disconnected, I followed the instructions on how to fill the auger tube, 7 min goes by and nothing is happening, another 7 min and nothing is happening, I watched a couple troubleshooting videos on how to clean the auger tube when it is jammed, when I removed the hopper to check the motor and the fan I found that the auger pin was not moving despite that the motor and the fan were running fine, the motor looked very wimpy and loose, I tightened the screw that connects the auger pin to the motor, the auger pin started turning and fed the pellets into the fire pit. I moved to the next step which was breaking in the grill, the temperature kept fluctuating reaching about 350 then dropping significantly and quickly to 200s, apparently because the auger pin stopped working and pellets were not being fed into the fire pit, I called customer service and they were closed on the weekend, so if you are grilling over the weekend and something goes wrong you are screwed, anyway I gave up after I tried a couple of times to have the auger pin start rotating again, i cooked some food and i turned the $900 brand new grill off. it is definitely going back, not very excited about the quality for the price I paid. One other thing was that nobody from Camp Chef has contacted me on Monday or Tuesday though I have left my name and phone number and I described the problem I was having with the grill....

Amazon Customer : Don't buy Camp Chef if you want WiFi control (or maybe even if you don't want WiFi)
The bottom line is that their WiFi controller doesn't work for many people. In particular, Android smartphone users have issues but a number of iPhone users are as well. I have been trying for four months to get mine working. My initial controller with the grill was DOA so they sent me a new one which I had to install. Initially it worked fairly well, but not perfectly. Then they sent out a firmware update for it and now I can't get it to work with either my Galaxy S9 or my wife's iPhone. They have tried to blame it on Android but my phone connects without issue to my car, irrigation controller, Alexa and Google devices, printer, etc., without issue Most recently, they sent me another controller (technically not the proper one for my unit but usable) which I installed today. Once again, it worked fairly well until the mandatory firmware update installed and then it didn't. Also, many Camp Chef purchasers have had issues with shipping damage. They use FedEx and whether it is a packaging issue, FedEx problem, or a combination of both, many users are having to then deal with taking their units apart to install replacement parts. The design specs for this unit are attractive but Camp Chef hasn't built a product that achieves those specs. My suggestion is to consider a Grilla Grills Silverbac Alpha as an alternative. It has a PID controller for accurate temperature control and provisions for temperature variation to generate more smoke. Additionally, they apparently ship on pallet rather than in a cardboard box. I am regretting that I didn't get one.
Question quest : No wifi, it's a mystery
Can't get the WiFi to hook up. Contacted 3 emails nothing. But I do like the grill. Tha main reason I chose this grill was the blue tooth WiFi thing. Could got it much cheeper

Ryan Lang : I cook every meal with it
Buy it for the quality and ease, not for the wifi.
Yes, the wifi is touchy & there are issues installing the app on Android. I had to install the app on an iPad, update the grill and then connect to the grill on Android.
But, the grill is so intelligently designed. Cleaning is a breeze, just empty some things every now and then. The interface on the grill is simple and my kids say I'm cooking the best food they've ever eaten.
The simplicity and experience of the core grill itself makes it the best value on the market. And the ability to sear over a flame in the grill makes buying the more expensive versions with a searing attachment completely unnecessary.
Amazon Customer : Awesome Grill !!!!!!!!
I'll start by saying I smoke and grill a lot and have cooked on many brands of smokers. It doesn't get better than the woodwind, it is the only grill that had every feature I was looking for. The biggest selling point is the ash clean-out. Pellet grills require cleaning out the ash pot every couple of cooks. With almost all other brands I have to take apart the cooking area to clean the ash pot - not so with the Woodwind. It has the best and easiest clean-out hands down. Just brush the grate and pull the ash release and I'm ready to cook. I have done a couple of cooks and the temperatures have been very stable, as long as it is on regular smoke output. On high smoke, it seems to slightly modulate the temperature to increase the smoke output, but the adjustable smoke levels are a nice addition. I love that It has four separate temperature prob's that will alert me on my phone when my prob's hit my temperature.
Accessories- I wish it came with a front shelf, but they do have one I will be ordering. They also sell the side burner that fit camp chef accessories. I have used their BBQ box and it gets hot, real hot, hotter than their sear box. For those new to smoking, this is nice for the all-important reverse sear at the end of some smokes.
Packaging and assembly- The box was a little beat up from shipping, however, The grill was well packaged and safe inside. Assembly was about what you would expect and fairly straight forward.
I used a cordless drill, Phillips and a hex bit. Start to finish it only took about a half-hour to assemble. TIP#1 -I would put a piece of tape or paper at the bottom of the hopper to cover the auger hole. It could save you some frustration if you drop a screw when putting on the hopper lid. TIP#2- I would also throw away the hopper grate, It serves no purpose, if you are smart enough to not stick your hand down in the auger screw and wait while it very slowly chews on your fingers.
That's it, for now, I have an amazing brisket that is beckoning me!
