I tried to weigh a fish and could not get the scale to work. Is there a trick to using it?

Answer: I think it's for bigger fish. I bought it for bass fishing. If you pull on it there are lb. Mark's on the tube. Seems a bit stiff.

It was mailed out very quickly. I opened the nice box and took the gripper and opened the jaws. They worked perfectly. The handle rotates 360 which is great. For the final test I pulled the handle out to see if it showed the weight. The plastic sleeve with the weight numbers on it slide up the handle and I could see screws and just part of the sleeve and numbers. It was sliding up the handle. They sent out a gripper that had bad been broken. Are you kidding me! Shame on you to send this out. Also upon inspection it looks used. I paid for new. I would not order this gripper! Buyer beware!

I have started to fish for striper last summer, but one of the problem I have is that striper can come in large sizes. One of the problems of handling the fish is that my finger often gets cut by the teeth of the fish because its weight makes its hard for me not to press on the teeth to hold the fish. Here comes this tool, which I bought as a pair with the plier. Once I got this, I no longer worry about how to grab the fish because this tool does the job nicely.

Very in accurate to weigh fish. had a 6 lb fish that read 4 and a 5 that read 3. went home and put on two 10 lb dumbells and they both read under 10 lbs, 9.5 at best, seems that the lighter the fish the more inaccurate it is.

on the flip side, it rotates, which is great for using on snakeheads as they death roll. the finger trigger is smooth unlike some other cheap grippers that can cut you when fish flops. I recommend this as a must have for snakehead fishing if you are on a budget!
