Just got this to replace a cheap one from a cheap set, and I'm pleasantly surprised by the quality. It's not top of the line, of course... but definitely worth the money. I also bought another set that had this exact same gripper. Will update if my opinion changes after using it.

Don't waste your money. The tape measure rusted out after first trip. The grip won't stay in place makes it hard to use the clamps to hold fish. May work better in fresh water, but not in saltwater.

I haven't used it yet, but all in all I think you get what you pay for.

mechanism isn't very smooth to open the jaws, maybe it just needs some lube or wear n tear to smooth out, not overly concerned about that. The scale however, doesn't move unless you give it a good yank. lifted a 1# weight and it didn't move.
