Questions about Marine Metal 5Gal Lid with Bubble Box Aerator Lb-11
Q:
I plan to keep sunfish alive for about a day. Will this work well?
Answer: Yes, it'll work great, as long they fit in the 5 gallon , I have had over 20+ shrimp alive for like 5 hours and worked great !
Answer: Probably depends on the temperature. I place an ICEIT cold pack in mine and keep shrimp alive all day where air temps are in the low 80's.
Answer: It worked well for trout (a very sensitive fish) for a few hours, but the water/weather was cold. I'd recommend cooling the water somehow... not tap water ice, but maybe distilled water ice. Don't put too many fish in the bucket.
Answer: As long as you don't overcrowd them, you should be fine. The size of the fish will also affect how many you can keep alive for any length of time.
Q:
Will this keep caught fish alive?
Answer: Yes, kept my shrimp alive for like 4 hours that I used it , definitely will keep fish alive.
Answer: Like others said it depends on the size of the fish. It's only 5 gallons so can't hold a very large fish. We use it as a bait bucket for shrimp, threadfin, pinfish. Could be used probably for small bluegill and perch. Wouldn't do much bigger.
Answer: Yes, depends on the fish. Kept 6 1 pound trout alive till I was ready to fillet them.
Answer: Depends on their side. Baitfish yes large fish no.
Answer: Small fish yes. I'm using it for crafish
Answer: I would say yes, but it's only a 5 gallon bucket so it's not going to hold a lot of decent sized fish.
Answer: I would imagine it depends on how long they are actually in your container, but we were crabbing for about 6 hours and had no dead loss when we took them out to cook them.
Answer: no
Q:
You know walmart has these for $14.96. Right?
Answer: Yes they are cheaper at walmart. But youll be lucky to find one Since covid.
Answer: do they sell just the lid and bubbler?? I wish I would have known the bucket was not included as the picture implies
Q:
How long does this run on one set of batteries?
Answer: I have this bubble box and use it for ice fishing as well as keeping shrimp alive when fishing from the beach in florida I have used it for years and have never changed the batteries
Answer: Days and days!!
Q:
Does lid fit yeti 5 gallon?
Answer: This lid fits any 5 gallon bucket you find at Lowe's, Home Depot, Ace hardware, or any hardware store. Bass Pro and Cabela's carry the same or similar lid for a higher price than you find at Amazon.
Answer: I tried it at dicks, it did not fit the yeti bucket.
Answer: I do not have this lid.
Q:
Is it easy to detach the lid once it's on the bucket?
Answer: Yes very easy. Keep in mind it is only the lid it does not come with the bucket but I got a bucket at Academy for $4
Answer: It's a tight seal. Not sure about easy to detach. But a good buy in my eyes.
Answer: It's not real easy, which is good because it well not fly off going the road. After you take it off several times you get the idea how it works and is not any trouble at all.
Answer: Yes it's easy.
Answer: Not a problem!!
Answer: Yes it is
Q:
Will this run on rechargeable batteries?
Answer: Yes
Q:
Ok for saltwater?
Answer: Yes, just don't get the pump wet. Saltwater will corrode it and make it useless.
Answer: Yes, that is what I use mine for. You dont want to submerge it, but it can get splashed.
Q:
Does this come with the pump and the bucket?1
Answer: First line in the description says "bucket not included" further in the description it says the aerator is attached to the lid.
Answer: No bucket just pump and lid
Answer: It is only the lid and pump.
Answer: yes
Q:
What batteries do you use
Answer: 2 D size, still using the first Duracell batteries after about 16 hours of use. I always take the batteries out when not in use. I use to keep bait overnight (fish before bait shop opens). Also used when I had 4 men fishing (only 1 bait bucket built into my boat)
Answer: 2 D batteries
Answer: 2 double D
Q:
Could it keep 1 or two bunker alive?
Answer: I have only used it with shrimp and smaller mullet. 1 or 2 menhaden should be fine, they are sensitive baits, but I think so.
Answer: Its my opinion that if it will fit in the bucket and stay under water it will survive
Q:
I’m moving and have 2 parrot fish, I think this would be safe for the 2-3 hour transport?
Answer: It keeps other fish alive much longer, so I believe it would.
Answer: I concur, I think it would be a perfect choice.
Answer: as long you have battery power forever
Q:
Can this be use for saltwater?
Answer: Yes, works great with saltwater. I’d recommend cleaning it after every use.
Q:
What is max amount of minnows you are comfortable keeping alive (weight or dozens) ?
Answer: 2 - 3 dozen depending on the size. Change the water frequently and keep out of direct sunlight and they will last longer.
Q:
What is the little hook looking thing with it
Answer: Not sure what you’re referring to, it if it’s the tube running into the lid, that’s the aerator hose...attaches to the portable battery operated aerator on one end and air stone on the inside.
Q:
The description says the bubbler is attached to the lid, can you seperate them?
Answer: yes, also you can buy a bucket from walmart for $5 and its a snug fit. I've used the lid once already for pier fishing with no problems
Answer: Yes you can seperate the two, the bubbler hangs on by a metal clip
Answer: yes they are two units, the bubbler has batterys in it.
Answer: Yes you can. It just has a clip that you can unhook. The hose goes through a hole on top
Q:
Does the tubbing and stone clme with the bubbler
Answer: Yes. I believe it was packaged inside the bubbler case where you insert the D size batteries
Answer: Yes..useless without it
Q:
What is the diameter size?
Answer: I dunno. It’s the standard 5gal bucket diameter. Like the ones you get at Lowe’s or Home Depot. It will snap right on them.
Answer: 12”
Q:
What color is the bucket?
Answer: Buy your own bucket, most hardware or home improvement stores. If you use a used bucket, it must be clean so you do not kill the minnows
Answer: that's the problem--there was no bucket the picture lied- false advertising!!! Wish they would have specified that there was no bucket
Answer: It's mostly white with their logo on it . I have used this bucket for 20 years and they do as advertised.
Answer: You can use your own bucket.
Answer: Bucket is not included
Answer: Blue white lid
Q:
How loud is this aerator?
Answer: Not loud at all. I did not measure in dB, but you notice it is there but the noise won't bother you.
Answer: working good
Q:
Any way to plug this into a wall so I skip the batteries when I'm not on the water?
Answer: Yes... but it'll require a little (or a lot of) ingenuity. If you still want to use it with batteries then make a "dummy" battery that contacts the + and - terminals and then hooks into a 1.5v power adapter (Try a Trisonic) and plug it into the wall.
Answer: Have to buy a separate air pump for wall outlet use. Look for one used for aquariums. Aside from having to have two different pumps it would be easy to switch back and forth between pumps when needed.
Answer: Nope. Just batteries. I mainly use mine in the winter for ice fishing. I have a bubbler in the garage that I switch it over to when I get home. Duracell's last about a week doing that in the cold. I'll be buying a second one cause my kids always take mine.
Answer: No the whole unit is operated by batteries
Answer: No, it's battery operated.
Answer: no
Answer: No.
Q:
Does this lid fit a yeti 5 gal bucket?
Answer: I don't have a Yeti so I couldn't tell you
Q:
I had a little piece of metal hardware come with the package .. what’s it for ?
Answer: It is to be used to hang the Bubble Box from a loop on the edge of the lid.
Answer: to hook the pump to the side
Q:
Will this work to keep my pet betta and clown pleco alive during a 5 hour car trip?
Answer: I couldn’t reliably answer your question because I haven’t put a pet betta or clown pleco to keep alive in my bubble box aerator. Sorry
Answer: We were able to run the aerator pump for almost 24 hours straight on the batteries so yes it would work for your fish.
Answer: It kept my discus, pleco, and catfish alive for about 19 hours driving from Texas to Florida.
Answer: Guessing no as a bucket of minnows died in less than an hour
Answer: Yes I am sure it will.
Q:
Do you sell the lid alone w/o aerator?
Answer: No, at least at the time of my purchase a year ago.
Q:
What size hose and airstone do you need?
Answer: It comes complete with both an air pump and stone.
Q:
Is the bucket insulated
Answer: There is no bucket its just a lid and bubbler
Answer: You are only buying the lid and "bubble box" NOT the bucket. I use a 5 gallon bucket from Home Depot and the lid fits perfectly!
Answer: This is a lid and aerator, doesn't come with bucket
Answer: no
Q:
I am interested in how sturdy the opening in the lid is after you've reached into it numerous times. Do the hinge and snap closure remain strong?
Answer: We haven’t used it that often but so far the hinges are holding strong
Answer: After 2 years, still going strong
Answer: We have used ours and it remains like new.
Q:
It’s the air pump rechargeable
Answer: Nope. It uses AA batteries, you can buy rechargable AAs.
Answer: It’s battery operated. You have to place them in. One recommendation though; if using it for salt water, wash what you can down with fresh water, not salted.
Answer: No, just change your batteries.
Answer: Change batteries
Answer: No
Q:
Is The bubble box removable?
Answer: Yes the bubble box is removable
Answer: Yes , you can use it in any bucket or what ever you are using to hold your bait. It works best on the bucket it came with because that is what it was designed for.
Answer: I don’t think so
Answer: Yes
Answer: Yes
Q:
Does this leak from the minnow opening when transporting or rocking on a boat?
Answer: Yes, it's not like a really good seal. Lid is for it just to stop like minnows or shrimp jumping out .
Answer: It plashes out some... depends on how full of water and how rough the ride.
Q:
Does the unit screw on or snap on the bucket?
Answer: It snaps on to the bucket.
Q:
does this include the air pump?
Answer: Yes. It does comes with air pump, but no battery included.
Answer: Yes, it comes with the lid and air pump. All you need is a bucket to add it to.
Answer: Yes! and it 's great at keeping your bait alive.
Answer: yes
Answer: Yes
Q:
It come with lid and air pump right all I will need is the bucket
Answer: Correct! Just need the bucket.
Answer: Yes that is correct just a regular bucket, it fit perfectly on a 5 gallon bucket.
Answer: right
Answer: Hey Spencer, that is correct.
Q:
What is the difference in 1-pack and 2-pack?
Answer: ask vendor
Q:
What is the coiled lead wire supposed to be used for? It was inside the battery compartment next to the stone.
Answer: The air stone tends to float to the top. You can attach a weight to the lead wire and hold the air stone to the bottom of the bucket.
Answer: It is a weight to help keep stone sitting at the bottom of the bucket! - ReelHooked Co.
Answer: A weight to keep the stone at he bottom of bucket
Answer: on problems works well
Q:
Would it work for BlueGill
Answer: Yes, this will work. Change the water frequently, keep out of direct sunlight and don’t overload the bucket with too much live bait.
Answer: No reason why it shouldn’t, but don’t overcrowd it...and that’s true for any kind of fish.
Answer: I would say yes but not too many.
Q:
is the bubble box water proof? Or does it come with some kind of water resistant protector?
Answer: Appears to be. It's all plastic and all electrical is inside box. You probably should not submerge.
Product reviews of Marine Metal 5Gal Lid with Bubble Box Aerator Lb-11

As described
mendell b hickman : Five Stars
Works great and easy to use
iggy : works great!
I use this bubble box to thaw meat in my sink. I don't have/use a microwave in my kitchen. I fill the sink up with cold water and put the bubbler in the bottom, meat thaws in a very short time, and it doesn't get cooked at all. A safe way to thaw chicken. With chicken sometimes I add ice, when the ice is melted, the chicken is close to being thawed out.
Lynn H : Works great with a 5 gallon bucket
We used this aerator on top of a 5 gallon bucket to keep our bait fresh and alive. Works great. Lasts a long time on batteries. I recommend.

Nathan N : Works great, perfect fit.
Got this lid and aerator to put onto a small 2-gallon bucket and it fit like a glove. I love that it has the ability to attach accessories to it, like a small fish net to get the bait fish, pliers, and whatever else you may readily need.
I've had the bubbler running every day ~20 hours a day, for 2 weeks, and it is still going strong. I didn't expect that out of a cheap bubbler like this, but it is still working!
Vincent Smith (BABABOOEY) : Needs thicker plastic
Great but needs to be a little thicker. Can Crack it easy if not care
Will : Light weight and works perfectly.
Wife's review: This really works. I like to catch small fishes like sunfish and rainbow trout for our son to look at and release. They stay really energized and strong. I used Lowes 5 gallon food grade bucket and it fits perfectly.

Justina Rodriguez : EXACT SAME Cheaper at Walmart WITH bucket!
What a waste! I found this exact same thing at Walmart for 10$ AND it came with the bucket. This lid does not fit a standard size 5 gallon bucket. Disappointed!
Robert D. : Excellent Live Well for Minnows
Fantastic product! With some fish food and daily water changes I kept minnows alive for a week in a five gallon bucket. I did have two of these running simultaneously. After four days I changed the batteries even though it was still going just because I assumed they were about to die... Maybe not? Lid is very functional with slots to hold the bubblers and net.
debra walker : just the lid. don't be deceived
The picture was deceiving I thought I was getting the bucket too. just the lid. I should have taken that trip to Walmart so I can see what I am getting. Had to go anyway to get a bucket!
Amy K. Amos : Great for moving fish!
We bought this for moving our cichlids five hours away to our new home. It worked perfectly! We had no loss of life during the long trip.
Marvo : Get 1
Works good. Keeps fish alive for days !
Ty : Great but optional power sources would be nicer
Great so far. A lot of options, 1 or 2 batterie, loops for minow nets, large hinged top with holes for aerator tubing and changing water without losing bait. Wish there was multiple power options., ie /cigarette lighter, ac and battery option. This would extend battery life (that I found to be about 48 hours as stated ).ie boat, campsite etc.
Lynn H : Works great with a 5 gallon bucket
We used this aerator on top of a 5 gallon bucket to keep our bait fresh and alive. Works great. Lasts a long time on batteries. I recommend.
Gary D2 : Fits on a 5 gallon bucket nice and tight.
Works great. Wish it came with batteries. But I bought my own.

Bella : Love the bubble top!
I love this product! I love to fish and I keep my live shrimp in here and they literally can last a couple days running nonstop with this bubble top. I just by a 5 gallon bucket from Walmart and add this as a top. Works awesome! Recently we moved and I took my fish from my aquarium and transported them with this! My fish were so happy! Great product for fishing and moving!
Jack C. Sr. : Great bubbler and lid
The bubbler is awesome. The only small drawback is the lid is very stiff and a bit hard to install. Maybe that will be better when it warms up outdoors. Great price, much cheaper than at sporting goods store. Great buy..

I was moving across several states and did not want to give my fish away. A friend of mine recommended one of these as he used it for live bait. I put my gold fish in here and over two days they were supplied with enough air to survive. I also ran it non stop over the course of about 48 hours.

They make a water resistant model of this exact air pump... buy that one instead. This one works, but one good rain and it’s shot. IT’S ENTIRE PURPOSE IS RELATED TO WATER!! WHY WOULDNT THEY ALL BE WATER RESISTANT?!?
