Answer: Excellent question! Our FoodSaver® V1100 is compatible with all of our mason jar sealers. Simply remove the bottom liquid chamber of the unit to reveal a nozzle that fits with our jar sealer accessory.
Answer: THIS model (31161370) IS compatible with sealing mason/kerr jars! The model FS1110 is the one that does not. I know this the hard way. When I read the other comments from Foodsaver Care I thought I ordered the wrong one. I was thinking I had to return it once I received it from Amazon. Went to Target and bought the FS1110. Turns out that's the one that does have the tip for the jar.
Answer: The circular sealer is made to fit the circular spot on the quart & gallon plastic Foodsaver bags. I don’t know how you could use it on a mason jar.
Answer: I use the vacuum sealer for foods that I freeze or put in the fridge which I absolutely love. Its fast never have freezer burn on any of my food and in the fridge it last longer. I like that I can open the bag and take out what I want and then reseal it again. I did canning for years and Mason jars take up room both when full or empty and are more work.

Answer: Not with the zip bags. It will pull the juices up and Interfere with sealing. But if you have mason jars & lids, also get the jar sealers. This works well with them as well as the food saver containers.
Answer: If you are using ZIP bags, you will have to clean the unit (soap and water with the removable part) and wipe the base unit clean (do not submerge the whole unit in any liquid). It can be a pain - however - the benefits far outweigh the little bit of cleanup. And much easier to use than the attachment on many of the larger Food Saver units.

Answer: Yes it works with the old containers - no adapter needed. The new shape is a circle, but is larger & completely fits over the old oval shape. I have had no problem using the new hand held with my old containers!
Answer: No it doesn’t. On the bottom of the unit is a round plastic adapter for the bags. Simply take that off and the port in the bottom of the unit works perfectly for most of my containers with the exception of the small cheese containers which does need the adapter in order to seal them.

Answer: After quite a number of uses, a bag may take in some air. I have assumed that such a bag has been damaged by use and discard it.
Answer: Over time - like any zipper bag - it may lose a little bit of the seal. I 'zip' mine up - then lay them on a hard surface and run my finger or a pan scraper I have over the zipper part to make sure there is a good seal. If you have one that 'kinda leaks' a little over time, check it every 3-4 days and redo. Not holding the vacuum - discard and get a new one.

Answer: The FoodSaver package of bags says "not intended for liquids or freezer". I specifically bought this bag sealer and bags for freezer use. Nowhere in advertising of these bags ANYWHERE (even on the FoodSaver site) can you find it stated not for freezer use. It's only AFTER you receive the bags and read it on the back of the package. I have used a lot of these bags (quart and gallon) for freezing meats so far and they have worked great! None of my seals have broken. I haven't reused any of the bags yet so don't know if they'll work a second time around.

Answer: I am not aware of the ability to replace the internal battery pack. Regarding battery life, I have been using mine on a regular basis for over 6 months and have charged it twice when it seemed to slow down a little. With a full charge - I get 2 to 2 1/2 months of use (probably 20-30 seals on bags, containers, marinator). As for replacing the battery - I suggest checking with FoodSaver Customer Service - or if you have a nearby Batteries and Bulbs - they might know.
Answer: There is no way to replace the battery, but the product does give instructions to only charge when needed, once every 6 months to maintain battery life. It also has a 1 year warranty.

Did you perhaps keep pressing after it got all the air out? I don't know if that would harm it in any way. But just a thought! When the sound on my changes to a deeper sound than when I start I know it's time to stop, or at least that's what I do and the bag is always completely sealed. Good luck!

Answer: The change in tone is my first clue then I disengage and test lid to verify jar is sealed. I enjoy that this little compact version fits in my travel canning bag to show friends how invaluable I find it. I no longer loan it, when a friend wants to borrow it, I generally get a good visit and free lunch!
Answer: The unit does not stop on it's own. That is a downside. You should be able to tell a difference in the sound of the vacuum and when the tone gets low, it should be done. Hope this helps.

Now I watch till it appears no more air can be removed and stop. It is powerful considering the size. Real issue is how the price for bags has greatly increased. Answer: I have not used mine yet but yes you do need to use special bags. the bags are resealable but have a little circle on them where you can use the vacuum sealer to remove the air. You can open the bag at the top, use however much you want, then reseal the bag for later.

Answer: You must make sure the strip at the top is entirely closed. Go over it a few times with your fingers. Sometimes the little round plastic piece at the vacuum point becomes defective over time, especially when the bag is reused several times. Those bags won't last forever.
Answer: Perhaps the zip lock bag isn't zipped tight? I've found out that you can't have any liquid/food residue where you zip it closed. I've not had that problem ... it works just as they say for me.

Answer: I was told that the bags you use could be washed and reused; they are pricy. I washed a couple and used beef with beef and chicken with chicken. When I used the beef a second time the Food Saver sucked in liquid from the steak into the Food Saver itself. I eventually got it drained out and now I use the bags just the one time. I think the hole the Saver makes in the bag is the problem. That's okay, I use only once and it works well. I did turn this problem into the mfgr and Amazon but got no results or responses. I'm still using with no problems so far.

Answer: Well the answer is a qualified yes or no. It will if the canister is configured to receive this vacuum pump directly. If not then you have to be creative. For instance, the bottom portion of the device is removable revealing a small round inlet to the vacuum pump . It you take a standard Foodsaver vacuum hose and remove one end the hose will fit over the vacuum inlet. Then it can be used to pull a vacuum in those containers. This same technique will work for the Foodsaver adapter for pulling vacuum on standard canning jars.

Answer: You go online and buy another food saver hose. When you receive it takeoff one end. Then you can thread that end over the vacuum inlet.
Answer: No hose is needed. The bottom of this is like the hosed attachment on your unit. This has its own built in vacuum pump. Very handy. I have the older unit which is much bigger. Both work well on the resealable vac bags.

Help! Humid here & dehydrated fruit gets moldy if not refrigerated: what's best FoodSaver for long-term pantry storage of dehydrated fruit & tomatoes?
Answer: I'm not sure just starting my expirence with 31161370 foodsaver, so far it seals great, i'm also using oxygen absorbers, and i am using with the wide mouth and small mouth FoodSaver Vacuum Sealer FCARWJAH-000 Wide-Mouth Jar Kit . The only thing I noticed is that make sure jars lids are clean, and wipe the mouth of the jars clean with distilled vinegar. As I had some of my seals pop open after being sealed, and the rim of my jar had gotton some of jar content on it an interupted a good seal.
Answer: This works with the canning jars lid adapters. The jars will prevent crushing your dehydrated fruit. The best part is that it all is reusable. No single use plastics at all.
Answer: The counter top models and cut-to-size bags make the best long term storage options. Depending on what "long-term" storage means, the cut and seal work best but if you plan to use go in and out of the bags, the handheld unit, zip lock reusable or plastic contains work best

Answer: It doesn't indicate mAh on the unit. It is made by Intertek Model FS1110. 4.0Vdc 0.8A. It's charging base provides continuous charging. I have vac sealed 3-4 quart bags with no problem. This unit is smaller & appears to be more powerful than a previous hand held unit I have.

Answer: This sealer works with FoodSaver vacuum zipper bags, which only come in quart and gallon sizes. If you buy a standard size sealer, you can make bags to whatever size you need. I had one for over a year but found I only used these pre-made zipper bags, so I got rid of the big machine and use this small sealer instead. I see non-FoodSaver brand zipper bags, but I don't see any options for smaller than a quart.

Answer: I haven’t seen any smaller bags. You can also use Ziplock vacuum bags, as well as the FoodSaver. Ziplock bags have a round spot where you place the vacuum, plus they are available at Walmart and less expensive.
Answer: I bought this to vacuum pack jars. Whatever bags you buy have to have that specialty made vacuum port, which I will never buy. So good luck finding them.

Works as intended, hopefully it will continue to work for a long time. I only regret that the battery is not replaceable once it no longer takes charge. I dislike products that have to go to the landfill after their rechargeable batteries no longer charge, for this reason I have taken off one star. Why don't manufacturers use AA rechargeable batteries on their device? To save one dollar?

I didn't know if I would like this vacuum but so many of my friends said how great a product this was, so I tried it. I like it...! The bags are a bit pricy but you can wash them out and use again. I write on the front so when I reuse I only put meat with meat and fish with fish and I wash very well. This small hand held is also easier to store.

This has got to be the easiest tool to use. The bags are reusable so after you open the bag to take out food....you just reseal the bag closed and remove the air with the tool. You can do this as many times as you need to until you are finished with the bag .

I purchased this product back in November of 2029 with the quart and gallon bags with it. Not only the bags don't keep it's seal even after pressing out not most of the sir before sealing I would run my fingers through the zipper three times on both ends before sealing to make sure it was securely closed. I have done this with the cheese and cereal before I left on my trip. I came back home to open my refrigerator with moldy and stale cereal. The be age looked like it was never vacuum sealed. Now for this product I had it off the charger because I didn't want to overcharge it while I was away and when I came home to use it I put it on the charger with the green light indicating it was being charged. I went shopping a few hours later it wasn't working. So I let it charge a couple more hours and still nothing. I'm upset that it's not working for only he having it for about five months and waste of money. ***Buyers beware***

I have a big Foodsaver machine and it works just fine but I wanted something small that I could easy get out for small sealing jobs. My daughter showed me hers and I ended up buying 2, one for home and one for the camper. You do have to use the special Foodsaver bags with the zipper top but for the ease of use and the small space it takes up, it is perfect for what I needed. I especially like it for liquids - zip the top closed and it doesn't spill nor does it come out when using the sealer but it removes the air and seals the bag. I use this often with leftovers. It is very handy and I would prefer using this sealer rather than the big one except for having to use the more expensive specialized bags and being able to cut bags to length needed.

When this product worked it was very easy to use and did great..with some exceptions. If the bag had any liquid in it (at all... no, not soup or anything, just some bacon) then the machine would attempt to suck the liquid through the vaccuum hole and would not suck the rest of the air out. The reason this gets a 1 star review is for 2 reasons. Even when the product worked the battery life is abysmal;however after 2 weeks and only 10 uses this thing is dead. It shows a green light when charging but it does activate suction whatsoever when attempting to use. There is a wires handheld version, so I am thinking I will try that one now that I'm stuck with a pile of vaccum bags that have no use at the moment. Very disappointed in the life of this product! Buyer beware this product will not last.

We genuinely loved using this product, as we do with all Foodsaver products. We have had several. However, this one only lasted ten months before the motor just stopped. I contacted Foodsaver through their website in the middle of December 2020. I finally received a return email, asking me for more information two weeks later. I responded immediately and at least two other emails. I have yet to receive any contact since then.

I had the choice of this newer model or a third of the old model. Thought I would give this one a try. It has plenty of power, does the same job as the older, larger model. One thing I do miss is light going off, or green, when it is fully charged. Plug it in to charge it and the light will stay on forever. We use it a good bit and it has never acted like the battery needed charging, but I charge it once in a while any way. Over all it is a great little vacuum, works on all the resealable Food Saver bags. Takes up a lot less counter space over the old models.

Looks like I made it 3 months. Lights up green as if charging but otherwise dead. It never had GREAT suction but it was fine for the job without taking up a lot of space.

I was looking into getting the big vaccuum sealers but I really didn't want to add another big counter taker over gadget to my pantry shelf. This things does the job so we'll for such a tiny thing. And I love that the bags are ziploc and reusable and I don't have to throw them away.

To use this with the vacuum lids, take off the clear plastic thing on the bottom, and stick the vacuum port directly into the vacuum lid. The tubing does not fit on this piece and is not needed. Listen to the sound to know when to remove the sealer. I let it go high pitched and as soon as the sound starts to lower I stop. Haven't had any troubles with either the large or small lids unless the lid was dented. Very happy with my purchase!

Bought this because the auxiliary function of my full size FoodSaver sealer stopped working. The initial charge took a long time, but it's also lasted a long time since, so I consider that wash. The unit and charger and very compact and easily fit in my kitchen junk drawer. Does a great job of sealing bags and it's nice that it came with some to boot. My only complaint is that I wish it came with a light or some kind of indicator to let you know that the bags were fully sealed, like the full size versions do.
Determiner of all Things : Works well with canning jars!
There was conflicting information about whether this product can seal a canning jar lid on a Ball or Kerr brand mason jar, but I purchased it anyway since I couldn't find the older style in stock anywhere. It DOES work to seal the canning jar lids, as long as you have the correct size attachment (small mouth or wide mouth) that fits over the flat lid on the jar. These can be purchased on Amazon if you search for "FoodSaver Regular Sealer and Accessory Hose Wide-Mouth Jar Kit." Before I purchased this, I was hauling out my foodsaver (off brand), attaching the plastic hose on the foodsaver at one end and the jar attachment cover at the other end and using the dry "vacuum and seal" button, which was a pain. Now I keep the cordless vacuum sealer in the charger and grab it with the lid attachment and take them to where my jar is. After removing the bottom plastic portion of the sealer, the round tab fits directly into the jar lid attachment. It's so much simpler and saves me time and hassle! I haven't used up a full charge yet.

I bought this to be able to use while hunting/fishing since it can easily be charged with an inverter in your vehicle outlet. Thus far it has worked with smaller games after cleaning and damping the meat dry. Now just have to hit the waters to see how it does with fish.

I wanted a vacuum sealer for a while but did not have the counter-space for one. This was the perfect solution. I keep it in a drawer and when i need it i use it. It does a great job getting all the air out which makes storing things much easier and saves space.

Most of what I use this for is to reseal block cheese; and for that use it gets 5 stars. It's necessary to squeeze out a lot of air before you start using it or it'll take a long while. Unless you freeze wet items before you seal you'll have a mess around the seal.
I haven't gotten it to work on any of the hard storage containers so I've given up trying. I'm happy enough with just saving pounds of cheese. I do wish I'd purchased the one with the little plug-in charger cable instead of the counter top charger.

This product is great. It takes up so little counter space and is super useful! I have a small kitchen and a small child. We eat a lot of fruit and veggies in my household and before I started using this any unused portions of veggies I would try to save for later would go to waste. I use this Foodsaver almost everyday with the Foodsaver zipper bags to keep the unused portion of my fruits and veggies fresh for DAYS!! And because I wrap most foods in plastic wrap before I put them in the bag I can just rinse and reuse the bags. Its such a money saver! Get one!

Delivery was as promised and in good packaging. This is a gift, so I have no review on this newer style. I have had the older style of vacuum sealer and love it. I understand from video reviews on youtube that this newer sealer is quieter. Unlike the older version, this new one has a stand that allows it to sit on the counter easily.

Yes, you do need the special baggies so you want to decide which items require this. For me, it's those items like celery, ham, etc. that I will be using over the next week or so and don't want to freeze. Especially for those items that do not freeze well. I also use the Foodsaver freezer bags for the larger machines. I have been very happy with the Foodsaver products. I have used other competitor products but have needed to throw them away because they did not work well. So yes, I definitely recommend this product.

Either pay $14 to replace the same fragile item that didn't work well, or spend a little more money for this handheld. If it lasts it will be money well spent. I can't see how it would work with my FS marinator, but for size, convenience, and relative speed I think this is going to be great.
Without this or the broken connector hose, all my FS containers are worthless. Back in business again. ; - D

I know there are several uses for this handheld food saver but I will mainly use it to seal the lids onto canning jars using the jar sealer attachment. I have used it on several already and it works great.
