how long is this knife? just wanna make sure before making decision.

Answer: Blade-8 3/4",handle-4 7/8",tot-13 1/2", blade is measured straight handle to tip (if measured along radius of curve it would be 9" of edge. One more thing, I know you didn't ask about this but: this is the best designed sheath for a filet knife in the world.

Answer: The blade is 9" long rather than 7" long. It is a good knife to use when filleting bigger fish.

I put several coats of tung oil on the handle to help preserve it, No it's not a custom or higher dollar fillet knive with a steel that stays sharper longer. For the bucks a nice knife. I've had the smaller version for years. You do need to rinse and wipe the blade with mineral or other oil after use as this knife will rust.

Answer: The sheath is rawhide leather. It should hold up just as well is a leather belt. I have been having one since 1980 and still in good shape and been through The Weather. The shop no holds up very well. Ceramic doesn't hardly wear out.

Answer: I have 4" skinning knife made by them and it came from Finland. I have this knife and they are identical except for length.

Answer: I believe it is made in Finland. I have had one for over 30 years that my Dad had. I bought my own, and gave one to each of my sons. What a knife!

I've been using the wooden handled Rapala 9" fillet knife for almost 25 years now on insulation (fiberglass and rubber). Never had one break and I can keep them sharp till it's lost 2/3rds of it's width. Can be razor sharp.

I found the rubber handled ones get stuck in the sheath right at the base of handle.

This knife is great. When you catch large fish it enables you to easily fillet them because of the lenghth of the blade.

I bought this knife to replace the one that walked away. I use this to filet out large salmon or other saltwater fish. It stays sharper that other knives, is very flexible so you can follow the backbone and the skin. It comes with a sharpener that works well. Spend a few dollars more for the quality.

Looks like the same quality as the ones I grew up with since the 70's. Classic style, great blade that sharpens well, top quality sheath. I have many rapala knives and they have all served me well. I know how to sharpen properly, so that helps.

There is a reason why this is my third size purchase of this knife model. The knife is sharp our of the package, versatile enough to use it on more than just on fish and has become the most essential tool in my kitchen.
I decided to purchase this size because I needed something that would allow me to fillet big blue catfish. The knife is light, sharp and balanced. The wooden handle fits well in the hand. My only critique would be the wooden handle is not the best material to hold when wet. With that being said I have not had any issues when wet.
I also use the knife to trim brisket when I bbq. The knife cuts through the hard fat cap easily. The knife slices cooked meat well as well as ribs.
This knife has become an essential tool in my arsenal whether it be in the kitchen or out in the field. I'm sure you will feel the same.

I have used Rapala knives for filleting fish for over 50 years now. They seem to have just the right flexibility for skinning especially with soft skinned fish like sea trout. I have used other brands occasionally over the years but always count on Rapala.

i have had a rapala 7 inch knife for yoars not as sharp any more but useable taught i would get a new one when i got it package was a little crunched but opened up plastic cover removed the knife only to see there was no tip cover on knife and very end of tip was bent as this part is important when you filet fish or meat as i use the tip to remove the fat and tough parts of my wifes steak as i had to cut plastic that it was shipped in i guess i am stuck with damaged knife
