Does anyone know what size screws I need to get? Judging from all the reviews it looks like I need to go to a hardware store to get the correct size.

Answer: I checked as best I could when I bought mine and could not find replacement tips. My guess is you have to buy a whole new latch.

Answer: Yes. Any smoker door. They are adjustable too. Center punch your drill hole locations and have at it.

Can I use jb weld to attach these to a smoker?

Answer: The standard JB Weld is only good for 300 degrees max. That’s too low for me, especially if smoking hot and fast. They make an extreme heat version that is good to 2400 degrees. I installed these on my smoker using nuts and bolts.

Answer: If jb can hold up to the temps, possibly. I drilled small holes and used the hardware, it was quick and easy.

Answer: I don't believe so. The latches hold pretty darn tight when drilled in. I've never had an issue with smoke leaking through them if thats what your worried about.

How long is the latch

Answer: The rubber bar portion is 3 inches long and it works well for what it is meant to accomplish, which is help seal the door as long as you have the heat resistant rubber seal.

Answer: 4 1/2 inches it says in the description end on any barbecue mod site as well if you do not buy the gasket there’s no sense in buying a set of lashes you might as well go ahead and buy all of the accessories that you need to mod your smoker A one time note Amazon does not sell tuning plates

Answer: Each latch has 4 holes. I used 4 nuts, lock washers, and bolts per latch.

Do the rubber tips melt when the lid gets hot?

Answer: I bought mine because the tips are neoprene rubber and should be more heat resistant than regular rubber. Mine are installed on a Cuisinart charcoal smoker, and I have had no problem with them melting. As long as you don’t expose them to extremely high heat , which you should not when smoking food, I don’t think they would melt.

Answer: No, there has been no detrimental impact to the rubber tips from the heat

This works fantastic. DO NOT LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE COMPLAINING. The ones who are saying “it melted” or “it doesn’t work” are full of bs. There are directions you need to follow I have no experience prior to this purchase smoking. However I have had this on my smoker for over a year now and i have had zero issues. Make sure you only apply this outside the smoker and wait the appropriate amount of time for it to cure.

Assume they will work well, would be nice however if they provided the right screws to mount it. The hole does not line up at all as the heads come too close to the lever. The holes are also small as if they gave me a metric screw vs a standard holewhere the screw is slightly bigger then the hole. I could drill it but again the head of the nut and the bolt but so close you can't line the hole. Thought of lining the nut outside but off enough where I would then need to drill a bigger hole.

Pete : Worked with my custom smoker

While it says it is intended for Oklahoma Joe Longhorn smoker, it installed easily in my custom smoker with 1/4" walls. I was concerned the provided screws would be too short, but they were perfect. My only ding is that the red rubber handle covers slide off the latch very easily. I might add some glue to it. This wasn't enough to lower the rating though.

The latch is strong enough to secure my warped smoker cover.

I would buy again.

I installed a set of these on a Charbroiler offset smoker. The smoker is great but needed better air flow control. Without these latches it's difficult to ensure that air flow is minimized through the lid closure. These work especially well with the sealer strips.

bolts were to big for the holes, bolt head gets in the way of the hinge, had to grind down the bolt head to fit. after one use the rubber boots disintegrated.

They (clamps) work fine, however the included bolts are not sized for the clamp mounting holes. I had to drill them out to 1/4 thread size.

These LavaLock clamps are a must-modification for any Oklahoma Joe Highlander/Longhorn Smoker. They are a tremendous accessory that goes far in leak-proofing your new smoker. I lined the clamp up with the top part of the handle bracket. Then using a silver tipped marker, I marked the four holes. After center punching the marks, I drilled a 1/8" hole followed up with a 3/16" drill bit. The included hardware is 10x32x1/2" bolts and they fit perfectly. The only thing to keep in mind, check the back side for the weld spot. You will need to shift the clamp a bit so it doesn't fall on the weld bumps.

These LavaLock clamps really work and one of the must have mods to do. I highly recommend them.

The latches are not the best design. The do the job, bit takes a bit of effort the get the smoker to seal. Ended up taking them off and putting Big Green Egg style latches on. That is the way to go.

so my boyfriend loves lava lock products for his smokers and he wanted this for his new OK Joes Highland. But Like the reviews state, they did ship him the wrong hardware, oversized screws so tomorrow we have to head to Lowes to get new hardware. Just added headache for no reason.. still amazing product, but no reason for that headache, could have just NOT included the screws

Just make sure you read up on how to drill through metal. Start on the smallest bit and work your way up.

Product works great. Can’t give it 5 stars due to the fact that the bolts that came with the clamps were too big, and wouldn’t fit. I had to put everything away and go get the correct bolts to continue the project. Not too big of a deal, but a major inconvenience.

Great way to make sure your smoker stays shut tightly once you install the gasket material!! Must have for the backyard aficionado.

Easy enough to install with no instructions. Clamps cheaply put together. After installed one of the latches wouldn't stay closed during the fitting process to measure out the distance needed to place the plunger, the arm ended up bowing out and bending allowing the plunger to fall out. After using vise grips and washers it finally worked somewhat like the other one. Probably could have gotten the parts at lowes cheaper and it be stronger. But it was $20 and I didn't have to deal with timmy in a red vest up my ass asking to help me, when he doesn't even know the difference between a standard and metric, just because I'm thinking do I just need to hold the lid down tight enough or do I need to hold the lid down so tight I can use my smoker while driving down the freeway..... what other parts will I need to do that.

The hardware that came with did not fit the screws and nut were too big. Would have been nice to figure out before I drilled the holes
to fit the screws. Had to drill out the hardware to fit a d front screws could not go in. BEWARE
