Does anyone know what size screws I need to get? Judging from all the reviews it looks like I need to go to a hardware store to get the correct size.

What is the measurement of the base Length x Width ( the part with the two holes ) ?

Answer: l 1.5 in x W 1 in

I need to order a replacement tip. Help!

Answer: I checked as best I could when I bought mine and could not find replacement tips. My guess is you have to buy a whole new latch.

Answer: Yes. Any smoker door. They are adjustable too. Center punch your drill hole locations and have at it.

Can I use jb weld to attach these to a smoker?

Answer: The standard JB Weld is only good for 300 degrees max. That’s too low for me, especially if smoking hot and fast. They make an extreme heat version that is good to 2400 degrees. I installed these on my smoker using nuts and bolts.

Answer: If jb can hold up to the temps, possibly. I drilled small holes and used the hardware, it was quick and easy.

Answer: I don't believe so. The latches hold pretty darn tight when drilled in. I've never had an issue with smoke leaking through them if thats what your worried about.

How long is the latch

Answer: The rubber bar portion is 3 inches long and it works well for what it is meant to accomplish, which is help seal the door as long as you have the heat resistant rubber seal.

Answer: 4 1/2 inches it says in the description end on any barbecue mod site as well if you do not buy the gasket there’s no sense in buying a set of lashes you might as well go ahead and buy all of the accessories that you need to mod your smoker A one time note Amazon does not sell tuning plates

How do you install these?

Answer: Each latch has 4 holes. I used 4 nuts, lock washers, and bolts per latch.

Do these open all the way to 100 degrees?

Answer: Yes they open all the way

Do the rubber tips melt when the lid gets hot?

Answer: I bought mine because the tips are neoprene rubber and should be more heat resistant than regular rubber. Mine are installed on a Cuisinart charcoal smoker, and I have had no problem with them melting. As long as you don’t expose them to extremely high heat , which you should not when smoking food, I don’t think they would melt.

Here’s the deal, these things get the job done but it’s kind of a pain to get them installed. The holes are not piloted correctly and need to be drilled out to 1/4 inch. Then the holes that are right next to the hinge need to be drilled out almost as an oval in order to get the bolts to pass through. That’s why I’m giving it a 3; they work well after install but there’s definitely more work on my end that didn’t need to happen.

This, coupled with the gasket tape, has been amazing!

Just make sure you read up on how to drill through metal. Start on the smallest bit and work your way up.

Normal thickness of the Highland would be fine, but the lip welded to the inside makes it too think for the screws provided. Also, the adjustable hold down clamp is two pieces that spread apart when the nuts are tightened. See pics. I added a couple lock washers but regular washers might help better. This should be one piece, not two.

so my boyfriend loves lava lock products for his smokers and he wanted this for his new OK Joes Highland. But Like the reviews state, they did ship him the wrong hardware, oversized screws so tomorrow we have to head to Lowes to get new hardware. Just added headache for no reason.. still amazing product, but no reason for that headache, could have just NOT included the screws

If you have a smoker which leaks smoke, these bad boys will help seal things up. Other than having to drill through the walls of my smoker, these were a breeze to install.

While it says it is intended for Oklahoma Joe Longhorn smoker, it installed easily in my custom smoker with 1/4" walls. I was concerned the provided screws would be too short, but they were perfect. My only ding is that the red rubber handle covers slide off the latch very easily. I might add some glue to it. This wasn't enough to lower the rating though.

The latch is strong enough to secure my warped smoker cover.

I would buy again.

Lewy : Bolt size do not match the hole size.

They (clamps) work fine, however the included bolts are not sized for the clamp mounting holes. I had to drill them out to 1/4 thread size.
