How long does the handle telescope to ?

Answer: It telescopes an additional 10 inches, taking the overall length of the net from 33" to 43".

Answer: There is a 5 onch cord to which you can attach the d-ring of a net release.

Answer: The attachment point on the handle is cord and makes about a 4 inch loop. I tied a knot in the cord and attached it to a magnetic release myself and it works really well

If I'm looking at trout fishing, what size? I want to the large but i think it may be overkill. Opinions?

Answer: I use the largest size for trout because it is handy when landing large fish because the handle extends out further especially in a water craft. And they are very light

Answer: Depends mostley on the type of fishing you will be using this net for. For boat you may want a longer reach but for stream fishing the small will be easier to hang from the back of your vest.

Answer: Have both a medium & large & both have their place,the medium is a good all around carry on the river net,the large has an extending handle which I like when I'm using my pontoon boat,if I had 1 choice I'd go with the large rubber,can be used for both situations,hope this helps.

Does the medium net have rudder netting? Description after you select size says nylon netting

Answer: The net is nylon, but is covered in a rubberized material. I have had an on-going issue with hooks getting caught in the net requiring snipping with scissors. After a few fishing trips, I now have several small holes in my net. Not a big fan of this product and have returned to a fully rubber mesh net. Not going back!

Ama-Purchaser : Keep Them Wet!

I've been trying a lot harder to protect the health of trout I catch and release. As far as nets go this seems to be of average construction and quality. I can't remember now if it floats or not, I think it doesn't so that would be a minus one star if it doesn't. If it does then I'd give it another star. The net has a zipper so you can keep the frame and replace that part if needed. So far I have used the measuring guide a few times and I like it. When you catch a nice sized fish and want to measure it or take a pic you can keep the fish in the net, draw it out of the water, wait a few seconds for it to calm down, get a quick measurement, "8+7=15" and bam back in the water. No more holding that poor fish out of the water for a minute giving it brain damage just to get that "trophy shot" or squeezing its internal organs causing it to die later on. Keep them Wet!

Rich R : No dark strip for good reason.

I read some other reviews stating that the numbers are more difficult to read than the original design due to the lack of dark strip down the center. I do agree that it is a bit more difficult to read the numbers, but after speaking to the creator of the net, I found out why. The dark strip was nylon which makes it difficult to remove your hook and release fish. I would love to see a design that looks like the old version with the dark strip, but still stays 100% rubber, but until then, this will certainly do the job.

Item is not as pictured. There is no dark center black strip in the center of the net. The numbers are painted on the net mesh itself. Not easy to read the numbers and they will probably become harder to read over time. Very dissapointed. Had to return item.

I fly fish, barbless hooks, catch and release, rivers, lakes (float tube & Hobie Outback Kayak). I have used a name brand wooden net for years, (see picture) fell off the magnetic zip cord from age and wooden handle not holding a screw. I purchased the SMALL measure net ("measures 20" fish") on an outing to a lake (float tube) and large river. Overall really like it. Fish friendly with rubber net, nice size on my vest, hook and line didn't get caught in net, floats, easy to read and measure fish length, without taking the fish out of the water. The two biggest fish of the the outing; I retrieved a 18 inch cut throat from the lake, and had a 16 inch rainbow on the river (with my buddies net, I had left mine in the car:(. I found the small net difficult to get the 18 inch lake trout in the net. A 14" and 12" much easier. The short handle and small opening, missed twice on the 18", and feared the fish was going to get off. I don't know if I could have gotten the 16" river trout in with the small net. From this experience I am going to buy the medium net for waters I think there is the possibility of catching fish larger than 14 inches, and keep the small net for water (rivers especially as so nice on the vest) where I expect to catch 10 to 14 inches. While the small measures a 20" fish, getting it in the next with a barbless hook is a challenge, at least for me.
Small net has size opening approximate: length of 12" /width 8", width at the top of but narrows towards handle and at 9" from top becomes 5". Tough for me to net that 18 inch cut throat. I gave durability 5 stars, but really can't say with only about 6 fish in the net. But no wear from that.
